Group members were studying at Western Michigan University, so that likely removed them from the day-to-day activity at Motown. But they came back in the 1980s with lots of live performances. I saw them two times when I was in grad school at Eastern Michigan. They also played a date at the Henry Ford Museum around the same time. Cal Street autographed my program after the Motown Historical Marker dedication ceremony in 1987.

I would have loved to have seen them live in performance. I've always felt that if I was going to have a career in music, I would not mind one like the Velvelettes enjoyed; while they didn't become Motown Superstars of the day, they did enjoy being part of one of the most popular record labels of all time, while also not losing sight of continuing their education. The group didn't put all their eggs in one basket, so to speak, so they were able to avoid becoming one of those examples of artists doggedly pursuing stardom, only to find disappointment when it didn't happen.
I also admire how they kept their strong family bond. Then, later in life, they returned to performing - for the sheer joy and fun of it, again, not trying to chase stardom but enjoying entertaining their fans (and picking up new ones along the way!)
