More people should hear this album. Black metal isn't dead, it just takes a little more effort to find something this good.

I know this is an old comment but I wanted to add something. Years ago I would get on metal archives for hours and just hit the random button. What ever band popped up I'd head to UA-cam and listen to them. I found several amazing bands that way, including Gris. It's how I started getting into dsbm. If you're ever board get on that site and just shuffle randomly through bands.

yes, the same. best album ever written, though I don't listen to BM too much. But all the complexity, beauty and emotional range - there's nothing released like this.

Masterpiece is right, this is sheer musical brilliance. The multilayered instrumentation is stunning and the cry of the passionately desperate vocals are haunting and emotive. Wow, a must own.

Never would've thought that a piece of music could come out of the blue and hit me the way this album did. This music comes from raw emotion and touches the listener in that very way. For this I am grateful to Gris.

Merci du fond du coeur, vraiment. Votre musique a été pour moi une révélation, ça reste l'album que j'écoute qui me touche le plus, malgré de (très) nombreuses écoutes. Pour tout vous dire, vous m'avez même inspiré au point que j'ai créé un projet perso avec une "base" black, et vous avez été le déclic qui m'a fait écrire en Français uniquement.

What an absolutely outstanding wonderful band! I fell asleep into a beautiful slumber listening... My neighbour in the flat downstairs is a bully and has kept me sleep deprived for months. I haven't listened to this in years... an intense feeling of sorrowful love lights like a candle in my chest and its flame grows alongside L'aube. This album will be an eternal favourite.

+Chiral I loved this album, it is obviously a true masterpiece of athmospheric black metal, but i still believe than their previous one was a bit better, with more present vocals and magnificent texts
+Death Machine I'm not so familiar with Gris' lyrics, honestly, but I still prefer this one though. I find it more complex than their previous one, and I love that. But well, "Il Etait..." is a huge album as well!
I understand il etait une foret is clearly closer to classical black metal with distorded guitars and a very present screamed voice. This one is really more spiritual and really relies on the general ambiance it creates. Being a fan of old school black metal I prefer il etait une foret. But both albums are really excellent ones made by a talented band

Even after listening to this album since it came out, it always hits like a truck. Such a masterpiece. Check out their previous albums, as well as Miserere Luminis (contains members from Gris) and Sombre Forêts, if you haven't already!
Yeah, I listened to it like 10 times since I discovered the album one week ago. It is truely beautiful. I checked their album "Il était une forêt" but this album speaks more to my soul. Miserere Luminis and Sombres Forêts are two incredible bands too. I really love this wave of Quebec black metal. Thanks for your message anyway !
