For what it's worth, these stand as the most pained vocals there are. without all the edgy nooses and blood splattered covers. Masterpiece.

This is like... Beyond a masterpiece. It's not simply music, it's way more than that. It really manages to reach waaaay deep into me, where I didn't even think music could lead me, and that's something truly extraordinary.

@@neonwitch1449 10 years ago, xasthur was the band brought me into dsbm. I can still relive the feeling of myself discovering the song "Instrumental". The same boy back then still alone in his own room now.

This 2007 album "Il était une forêt..." by #Gris is one of the best #depressiveblackmetal albums ever! The vocals by Icare are just stunning.

THE best dsbm album ever, bar none... in my humble opinion. In fact, I dislike most of dsbm as 99% of it is either an early Burzum rippof or just whiney adolescent emo garbage. Exceptions: Xasthur, Leviathan, Gris and some of Silencer. This is just gold, though! Love the vox!

Silencer is early to mid Burzum [read: s/t - Filosofem] in its instrumental background [slow, melodic, repetitive syth, mixed with cleaner-than-average guitar], and with Bethlehem's vocals [which, in themselves were based off of Burzum].

Guys, their logo IS actually a ballsack... but so what? Is it not the thing that perfectly represents life and it's cycle? Among other things yes, but still, their logo is inspiring and should be taken as a model for every creative, imaginative and sensitive person in the world.

I don't see black metal as almost always poetic, Many bands lyrics aren't even worth noticing.
Not at all Anton Ojeda and clairelenoir. Gris it does somehow sounds "prettier" than other BM bands. But hell, most of BM bands sing about murder, impaling, satanism, sadomasochism, etc. and are limited to a bunch of agressive words combined with very primite riffs; which well made can also be astonishingly good, but sometimes is very stupid and lame. Anyway, "poetic", raw, sadomasochistic, blasphemous, etc. is irrelevant, BM it is indeed a great metal genre with some very talented musicians (Neptune and Icare ar good examples), there is no doubt about that, but deffinetely BM is not almost always is poetic at all.
This did not age well but still the fact that y'all took my comment so literal is more depressing than this entire album. Hope that speaks volume to y'all.
