I was traveling all over the country, just a grind of doing installations 100% travel and 15 hour days, but I loved it. I was Superman. my girlfriend was pregnant and I had no idea what to do. This song came up on the radio, I knew the answer after I heard it. I called girlfriend and said “honey, I’m leaving the road behind for good.” It’ll be 5 years come September. I still dream of the road and have the urge to go back on it, but I look at my kids now and realize I never missed a single moment.
Crying here in 2023 because we will never get this type of songs in this generation. 🥺❤️They were the OG of the industry
You got that right 😢
Beautiful song, great country singer
My eyes pooled I can't control thinking of my two grandchildren left behind by their mom for another man when they were only 2 and 4 years old respectively. I can't understand why some mothers leave their children for their own happiness. So I practically raised them as my children.
You have a kind heart ❤

They will remember and you will live in their hearts forever...I raised my amazing husbands two girls and their gift of love is immeasureable...I was the winner...He was the most amazing man I ever met to take on his girls - we have been so blessed.
So many country music legends all attending the same event. Glen Cambell, Waylon Jennings, and others looked on as Dan Seals delivered this beautiful rendition of a hauntingly sad song. This was country music's golden age.
Every time I hear this live version, I think to myself "How is it possible for anyone to be this perfect singing live?" I will always love this song.

As I’m getting older that line about Red stumbling and him not being able to let him go, hits hard. All the things I love are being put out to pasture. And me too some day not too far way.
Right they just don't make em like this anymore RIP TO THE LEGEND DAN SEALS
Yeah, me too on that line about Red stumbling. That touched home!

OK, I am 48 years old, and just as manly of a man as they come. But I have to say this: when you hear this great gentleman sing a song like this… And you don’t have to wipe away at least one tear… You have no heart whatsoever. May you rest in peace good sir. You so well deserve it. I so look forward to sitting around a campfire on the other side, playing guitar and singing songs with you my friend.

@@rebeccanelson4247 I'm doing good thanks for asking nice to meet you which country are you from.?
@@rebeccanelson4247 Hello dear
@@MarkHonest-ms3oq hi..
This cut is superior to even what was recorded in the studio. Dan Seals must be the most underrated country singer to date.
Apparently, the reason Dan Seals is not in the Country Music Hall of Fame is because he was always considered a cross-over artist from his pop years with England Dan and John Ford Coley. He has a ton of hit records, but did not get the votes from the Country Music establishment. Willie Nelson, Chrystal Gale, Glenn Cambell, Ronnie MIllsap, Waylen Jennings, were only a few of the headliners who were sitting-in on that show. Pretty impressive company.
Muito bom
The 2 Ralph Emery's Country Homecoming specials found on UA-cam are so special....no big crowds, no TV networks, no "Applause" prompting....just priceless reactions from their peers and incredible performances like Dan Seals. He was so moved at the end by their support and love.
I rank Dan Seals with Mark Willis, Gary Allan, and Clay Walker.
One of the greatest country music artistes in the history of America.Sadly, he never received the accolade he so well deserved.
You are so right. You can feel the great emotion as he sings.
He gone too soon..
So glad he continued into music from soft rock to country...
Loved it when he and John Ford coley were singing as my favorite soft rock duo in mid to late 1970s...
Fond memories...
Viva el rock !

The fact that Waylon's playing and singing along sure shows it got his seal of approval. Great, touching version.
Agreed, just sad he didn't even know the words and fake sang.
If you are referring to Waylon Jennings then you have no idea what you are talking about.
Willy and Waylon playing back up. Rodeo isn't a game
@@rgefd0210 The words were in big letters on a a billboard. Some read the words and sang, some knew the words and others were just listening, caught up in the moment and the performance. Nothing to knock anyone about at all.

When you write a song so great, kind of as an outsider at that time, and you get the greatest of the great to sing along….. well, that’s why I write songs. For just one moment like that.
i'm from the northern Philippines and we LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC... especially oldies.. like, Don Williams, Dan seals, Merle Haggard, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Horton, etc....all the country singers.❤❤❤❤❤❤
They all had some really great songs!
We definitely produced some of the best singer/song writers the world will ever know
Some laugh when he hits them high notes their just jealous because their not that talented Dan Seals one of the best singers of all time and a good hearted person Joe Stampley a good hearted person and he's another great singer we need more people like that in this world it would be alot better place.
Country singers today just don't compare to the genuine sincerity of Dan Seals!
That’s what is lacking. Too many used car salesman singers nowadays. We need singing with soul.
@@rexoates4484 You hit the nail on the head, Rex. Soul is desperately needed and sorely missed these days. I also miss Harmony singing in both Country and Pop. The 60s and 70s had countless artists/ bands with excellent three/four part harmonies. Whatever happened to Harmony singing? Surely the record companies understands that and its a crowd pleaser too. Maybe there ain't artists out there today CAPABLE of singing tight harmonies? I love the warm Harmonic blend of England Dan and John Ford Coley. Midland is a blast of fresh air and their music is a mix of The Eagles and George Strait. Nice too see real talent finding massive success. The 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s had a well of superb artists but Country lost its sound in the 90s and don't get me started when discussing the Country music of 2000-2021.....I was born in 1980 and got introduced to the fine Pop music of the 1960s through my father. In the late 90s I discovered Country music and consider myself a massive fan and a serious record collector and I've been studying the entire American Country music history, from the late 1920s to the current times. I'm a Norwegian and a songwriter. My favourite pop bands include The Beatles, Beach Boys and Gilbert OSullivan and my favourite Country artists include Don Williams, Paul Overstreet, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and The Everly Brothers. Oh...and my All Time Gospel act is The Louvin Brothers!
true. Now a day's only few song's is really good to hear. Old song's still the best. Until now I still remember the old song's I might forget the tittle but the choros I can sing it.
@@flordelizapanhon3999 You've obviously got a great taste in music and older songs ARE better than newer songs! Dan Seals was half of the 70s Soft Rock duo England Dan and John Ford Coley and together they scored a string of hits between 1976 and 1980. If you're not familiar with that duo, please check em out on UA-cam, Spotify, CD, LP or whatever music outlet you use!

When songs had meaning ,words painted a picture and the story takes you on a journey. Kids this is how it is done.
This artistry of country music is gone. It now remains only an aquisition of memories....Today's present music is so psuedo...not even an imitation of what country music use to be..... What to happen to us?... humanity has spiraled to such a place where we are so divided into a sad state. I will keep holding on to music like this and wrap myelf in it for warmth and inspiration.

It's heartbreaking to see so many of these guys that are no longer with us. R. I. P. To the greats. There'll never be a replacement
this is absolutely amazing. What a talented voice when he can actually sound better acoustic than the actual studio recording.
Dan impressing a room full of country giants.....Thing is, Dan was probably the greatest of them all!
Amen!
Yes he was
I don't know...there was quite a lot of success all gathered together in that one room. The thing about music is: IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE COMPETITIVE. It was mean to be enjoyed together not to be a contest. It was the business people, the lawyers and the sales people who made the competition angle to try to push sales and make more money. Ask any of the artists and they'll all tell you they hate the idea of saying their song is better than someone else's song. While you may LIKE or PREFER one artist over all others, it doesn't necessarily make them better, just more to your taste. Whereas another may have a completely diffferent view. So to say any one in that room was better than all the rest is only a subjective view and probably none of the people there would agree with that. They're all different and their musical output is different - as it should be. In order to have any kind of fair competition, you have to remove all of the differences and make all exactly the same.
@@Rx_Bluegrass I wholeheartedly agree with you. Thats why I don't like music contests. It's not based on quality its based on popularity. The most popular song will always win and just like you I don't judge music that way. But there IS a case to be made for calling a particular artist greater than another. I mean, you HAVE to call Elton John greater than say, Justin Bieber in terms of musical quality! The same with the charts. It's just a popularity thing and that's fair enough but I've never thought of music like that. I miss music shows where they simply let musical artists appear and sing their songs without judges making their so called expert comments. No scores, no points, just let the music speak for itself! I'm definitely on your side but none of my friends who are into music agrees with me. I used to watch Eurovision Song Contest but I had to give it up because I knew there was no way to decide which song is "better" or " worse". It all comes to down to individual taste. The thing is, there are ballads, rockers, Jazz inflected songs, and other kinds of music in these contest and its useless to put these up against eachother. Of course saying Dan Seals probably was the greatest of them all is my subjective view. Trouble is, for many people they would call that absolutely objective! Ive talked to several people regarding music and how were judging artists and musical genres and they honestly believe THEIR favourite artist or song IS the best and how dare I even question their stand!😁
@@thomasmarthinussen8978 There is not doubt that as far as musical knowledge or instrument prowess there are going to be vast differences among different people. Case In Point: In the movie Amedeus, Court Composer Salieri (played by F. Murray Abraham) is always comparing his talent to Mozart's and can't quite hold up to the genius. So if it were a contest of who could write more songs, or who could pick more notes in a minute, there would be lesser and greater all across the board. But that's not the same as saying "this song is better". Just like you can't say that "Moonlight Sonata" is better than "Hey Jude". They're not in the same genre, not in the same century and not in the same country....but there will always be people who say: "Hey Jude" is the best of all time....or "There'll never be another song like "Layla". It's just human nature. What they really mean is THEY LIKE IT BETTER. But it's a character flaw just like when they say: "You make me so very angry" when in fact, it is they who make themselves angry because they don't like what you do.
Life is a beautiful ciranda,
that we are dancing according to the music,
some love the slow pace, others, however,
need agitation, after all, everything is choices...
Love is more than a sensitive four-letter word,
love is walking on clouds without even having wings.
Love is kissing the wind with a fairy sigh,
love is discovering the most beautiful of a rose...
Giving affection is touching with affection the life of the other,
is to do good, without asking for anything in return,
is to bring hope where there is despair...
Is to let love speak louder,
than any other feeling.
Giving affection is taking care of those you love...
Love is the most powerful force in the universe,
and when two people love each other,
Neither distance nor time can separate them...
Love is not made of looking at each other,
But if we look together in the same direction...

Hi Vicki
I really love Dan Seals, his 12 string guitar performance, his amazing vocals and falsetto, yodel intonations. I love everything about Mr. Seals, I loved his recordings during his active career, and I hope to hear some future work.
One of the best versions of one of the best songs ever written. I have to mention the guitar playing. He’s playing a right handed 12 string guitar left handed and never misses a note. That’s pure talent. Not bad for a West Texas boy from Big Lake, TX.
That's not difficult. Just work out how you want to play it, and then practice, practice, practice. Odd that he wanted to play it that way, but I'm sure he had his reasons. I've played guitar for decades, and I know that eventually it becomes instinctive.
You'll never see a room full of more talent, and beautiful human beings again in your life..

@@MR-cb7pe Priceless. Both Ralph Emery Country Homecoming specials on UA-cam are filled with emotion, love and classic country.
I love the way Dan used to keep his eyes closed while he was singing. It shows that every single word was coming right from his heart as opposed to the singers who read the words off the teleprompter or off the cue sheet. You know that he could actually SEE the picture that he was painting for us. That is the mark of a genuine singer/songwriter.
I had the chance to have breakfast with Dan back in the 1970s. It was when he was still with John Ford Coley and after a few really big top 40 hits. I was hanging out with a country band and the bass player was a childhood friend of Dans and used to practice with him in Dan's dad's garage. He got a bunch of us together and invited Dan to join us so we all crowded into the big corner booth at Sambo's Restaurant in Phoenix, AZ. I ended up sitting right next to Dan and we had a great conversation. I've had the fortune to meet many Country recording personalities but I can honestly say I don't think I ever met anyone that was nicer and more genuine down-to-earth - No glitz, No glitter, No Show...just honest sincerity and talent.
They did a song in their set that was a country flavored tune (Ramblin' Gamblin Man) and I remember telling him they should release that as a single and try to do more country tunes.....He said he'd like to but the label wouldn't let them, Had them locked into a format of making hits. I always wondered if I planted the seed that told him to go back to his country roots.....I'll never know because I never got to meet him agian, but I'm so glad he did go in that direction. I am sorry we lost him way too soon but what a treasure chest of material he left behind. Thank you Dan!
The pain of a breakup lingers on and on and on. This song reminds me of the song 'Whose Girl Are You' by the Old Man. The song is about the pain a man is experiencing in coming to terms with his ex-girlfriend being with someone else. He still loves and misses her and longs to be with her.
@Mark Honest I'm okay. I trust that you are well.
@Mark Honest I live in South Africa.
