'Stunned by the details that make it into your work, Mr. Lemon.
I am soon going to be carving my second clay piece- a case for my tobacco pipe, featuring the head of a Haflinger. As I watch your videos, you seem to craft a nice mold for my understanding of working with clay. Thank you for these uploads.

Amazing work!
+Modelhorse studios Thank you
You are fantastic
That is looking bang on my friend.... superb work =)
Brilliant Sir....
I've always found that no matter how many pictures or whatever I have in front of me on the subject detailing what it looks like, I can never really get the art right until I know it thoroughly in my head. With the few brain cells I have left now, that's a tall order, ha ha.
Would love to see you sculpt some champion racehorses - Man O'War, Phar Lap, Citation, Seabiscuit, Secretariat etc All with jockeys' up and at full stretch. Lots of incredible muscle toning for you to highlight. Would have to be a bigger market for sculptured racehorses than Indians on horseback, I would think.
Could be right Daza.. I'm going on 69 years old.. may be a short time left.. to do all that.. haha
Daza Donno you must be a racist bitch
Great job
thats awesome i dig the hair making technique
Thank you Jared... My cousins name is Jared.. good name

AMAZING!
You make it look so easy... I can't for once do a horse head yet... I end in frustation and start all over again and again
I know I have to start from layers and start going out. but... when I dont like what I see I just...
but the key is dont give up and keep trying.
Thanks Lonnie
Sorry don't understand the question.. ..What do I do with my clays? I think your asking.. I take them to a foundry.. they make a mold of them.. then we go through the process of casting them into bronze.
Thx for that by the way what can i do with it you can do figures right what did you do back in the day with air dry clay?
You are fantastic x 10,000
Thank you so much for sharing your talent and instruction! I wonder do you ever make molds of your sculpting so you can make multiple pieces? If so, do you have any videos of you doing this?
Yes I do.. I don't make the molds though. I take the clays to a foundry and the molds are made by someone there.. then I go through the process of casting my work in Bronze...
I have a gallery online.. the pieces shown in clay haven't been cast into bronze yet.. the ones in bronze ... well that answers it'self... haha

Hi David just one question i have air dry terracota do you think i can do something smaller to sculpt with it or do you think its harder because its air dry clay?
yeah, I'm the same way
Wow super
Artiste.. Bravoux bonne travaux. 🍁 🍁 🍁 je respecte á toi mister 🍁 🍁
Eu uso uma argila plasticina chamado J-Mac. Eu uso a argila médio. Eu tenho um link para o site onde você pode comprar na minha descrição do vídeo.
awesome!
Muito bonito trabalho. Pergunta que tipo de material que trabalha para moldar obrigado.
Which clay u use
No David what i mean is what kind of things you did with air dry clay back in the day?
Horses of Basilica San Marco mean or Quadriga .i am interesting but i would like to know your advice the degree of difficulty
Thanks for sharing your process!
İ am very lucky i saw your scultures. Greetings...
( is Quadriga model diffucult ?)
Wow your work is so beautiful .tell me please where I can get started to learn how to do this . Would you teach a beginners workshop ? Thankyou Rebecca
I have 8 instructional DVDs on differing sculpting subjects.. Just watch this video on my last DVD I made and at the end of the video are instructions on how to purchase my DVDs. ua-cam.com/video/QZVivhejIpA/v-deo.html
I have been collecting Breyer horse models since the 90's and only just decided to try my hand at modeling. What are some tips you'd suggest for those just starting out? I have some modeling clay and tools on the way but haven't attempted anything like this before. :)
I have a DVD set that shows what you need to know. on creating Wire Armatures... as well as creating a Horse from Scratch.. You can find a preview of both these sets on this page.. adayinthelifeofalemon.blogspot.com/2019/03/nine-instructional-dvds-on-how-to.html
what type of material and this mass? I wish fazesse step by step
Agropecuária A I use a Plasticine clay ... It never hardens and can't be fired. I finish a clay and take it to a foundry where they make a mold of the original clay and then from the mold the foundry then makes a wax copy and then cast it into a bronze.
perfecto
good
Hi, can I ask if this type of clay doesn’t set why do you make them with this clay? Is it for casting? I’m self taught, still have a lot to learn, I do dogs and horses but would love to make them look as real as yours, you are amazing
Yes, I do have them molded at a foundry, where they become Bronze Castings...
Here is my gallery online.. where you can see some of my unfinished as well as my finished bronzes.. bronzesbydavidlemon.blogspot.com/
David ,may I ask you a question?
Do you use,by any chance, fibreglass moulds?.
And , could you share a video on how to cast a horse?.
I'm struggling in how to get the proper division of the piece.
Thanks in advance.
And keep it up. You are a truly Artist. Amazing job❤
I can't be much help to you.. the foundry makes the molds.. Laytex and plaster shell.. They cut up the clay in pieces and make molds of them and then in the bronze they weld those pieces on and grind the welds till they match the surfaces..
I made this video 11 years ago. A tour of the foundry
ua-cam.com/video/52FXK2czGos/v-deo.html
@@clayguy1 still ,David. Much appreciated 🤓
Wow
bubble and Bruno.. thanks Bruno, you english is fine.. lol
love watching you videos question what kind of clay do you use?
J-Mac medium grade clay... I mention it at the beginning of the video
I haven't worked with air dried clay since, 1965.. I don't think you can do what I do.. in that kind of clay.. but I could be wrong.. it would take extraordinary care and ability to do this in that kind of clay. Because it does dry... so not really sure Bruno.
Genial!
Soy de Chi... alguien me puede ayudar y decirme que material usa??? Es increíble
You can use a Pasticine Clay called Chavant. Do a Google search.
On their website they have a list of international distributors.. I used Chavan't NSP Soft clay.
I hope this helps you
*perfeito*
The specific material used to model what?
It's a plasticine clay.. Listed in the links below the video in the description...
David Lemon
Tank you.
Well I guess I can finish it now.. haha
Oh... well I made a vase with three naked scraggly witches.. all screaming.. with their heads up.. from mid thigh up.. and you could put a flower in each mouth.. lol
I did a figure of Adam being formed from the earth.. That dang thing was heavy.. a bust of a Moses style head with hair and beard.. stuff like that.
Is your reference for the horse a painting or drawing, or is it a photo of an actual horse? Also, is that a coyote fur hanging on the wall?
Drawing and yes... lol
¿Esas figuras después de hechas se cuecen? 😮😮😮
They are never fired.. it's plasticine and doesn't harden ever. I cast into bronze.
Does this dry like resin? Btw beautiful work. 😉
Never dries.. I take it to a foundry after I'm done and they make a mold of it and then cast it into bronze...
Oh. Ok! Thank you for telling me.
willowcreekfa If you watch the video for a couple.. you'll see I added links to DVDs on my sculpting as well as a supplemental DVD I put together showing the foundry process from delivering the clay to the finished bronze.. You might want to check that out.
I was wondering if you've ever thought about selling you're work? I think it's beautiful!
+katiewilson05 I do.. been selling them since 1977... My Gallery online... bronzesbydavidlemon.blogspot.com/

+David Lemon sorry I just found your channel :)
And thank you, I don't really do that anymore:)

+Japeth Deleon I talk about it right at the beginning of the video..
+David Lemon ah ok sir..coz im making my own sculptures out of mud clay..the problem is..when it dries its starting to crack..which is really frustrating..
Not sure what your asking..?
Obrigado pela resposta, como não falo inglês vendo os videos eu sigo seus ensinamentos, gosto da fedelidade anatômica que o sr da nas escultura , sou um auto didata e estou aprendendo.
