The EF 85mm 1.4 is still the favorite lens in my kit. I’ve been on the RF system for the past few years with an EOS R6 and other RF lenses but this lens remains on my camera 75% of the time when it comes to paid portrait work.
Thanks for the review! I was wondering why Canon USA is starting to price gouge its loyal customer base on EF L lenses? I don't see similar increases with Sony's GM glass. Nor does Nikon appear to be price gouging on its premium glass.
The 1.4 doesn't weigh more than the 1.8 just because Imagine Stabilization. The optical formula is different has more elements which adds to the weight greatle. Notice how the RF 50mm 1.2 is way heavier than the EF 50mm 1.2. Both don't have stabilization.

This lens is so sharp, you can see even the smallest grain of the huge make-up powder layer on the model's face.

you forgot the Tamron 85mm 1.8 also has IS
They said this lens has CA issues
it's all relative it seems, yes it has them compared to for instance the Sigma or RF85, but still not extreme plus it corrects quite easy in LR.
Just got this lens and I was surprised how bad the CA was, but easily correctable in LR.
You seen overall price 6 out off 10 But final score you seen 7 out off 10. It's not fine. U see video again🙏
