    When I was very young I rode on the L's to and from Chester, then on K's and LD's to and from school in Calday. I will always love Crosville.

    Crosville was created in 1906 by George Crossland-Taylor and Gerard De Ville to develop a car business, which turned into charabancs then buses. It was one of the biggest Tilling group companies that became, and were dismantled into, the National Bus Group. Sad;

    Back in the days when bus driving was actually a good job. I am a bus driver and sadly I've now got to the point where I dislike the job. Nowadays I spend most of my time sat in traffic and car drivers are so rude. If I could do it all again, there is no way I'd be a bus driver now.

    I don't think that the white Leyland PD1 (DED 797) on its way to Waenfawr ever belong to Crosville. As far as I can find out it belong to Warrington Corporation and was later purchase by Whiteways, which would explain the white livery. See ( www.flickr.com/photos/apt358/9435188898).

      Crosville operated mainly in North and Central Wales, plus also the Wirral peninsular (South of Liverpool) and Cheshire. Sadly Crosville was split up into its English and Welsh operations and sold on to First Bus and Arriva. Crosville buses were all diesel buses using mainly Gardner engines, but hybrid buses are now coming into use.

    Has any one out there know how the name Crosville came about.I got told years ago that it was formed in 1920s by Mr Cross and Mrs De Ville.This may only be a rumour,but a Inspector know as "Timex" at Mann Island (Liverpool) told me.! Pease Confirm.

      Apparently the bus operation was started 1909 by a Yorkshireman called George Crosland Taylor and a Frenchman called Georges de Ville.
