  • In this video, I will show you 2-3 things I do in early Spring to take care of my Japanese Maple bonsai trees and seedlings in various development stages. Enjoy!
    - Checking for wires to avoid scars
    - Pinch or not pinch based on your goal for each tree (Thicken the trunk/branch vs refinement with short internodes etc)
    - Remove unnecessary buds
    - Cover 1-2 year old seedlings with mesh screen to create natural movement

Your garden and trees are looking wonderful! I'm similar to you, I've just finished my last repot yesterday, I've been doing this for 5 weeks now! Currently pinching the trees that need it! Keep up the great work, all your hard work paying off 😊

Thank you! Lots of work with repotting trees but it feels incredibly satisfying to see them repotted and ready to grow!! 🔥

Everything looks great! Quick question though, why the steel washers on the trunks of some of the seedlings?

Thanks! Those washers will choke the trunk as they get thicker causing the trunk to swell and develop roots above the washer to form nice flat nebari. :)

Thanks for the Video! Do you fertilize the 1-year-old Seedlings? (or at what point do you start)

What is the reason to tear those sprouts away?
