►A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician, on the road at age 17-19, then went part-time ever since, holding 'day-careers' like chef (red seal papers), spiritual health care while raising a family. As a producer I've made hundreds of my own songs for media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, playing International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I like to explore grunge, pop rock and alternative, alt-folk / acoustic fingerstyle guitar, ambient electronic and classical as well. Recently i 'discovered' shoegaze and lo-fi. I have a home studio that is ramping up for lots more music so stay tuned.

If you do react to a whole album of Death I think their next and final album ‘The sound of perseverance’ would be the best choice. It’s their most progressive and their best imo.

I agree, harsh vocals are closer to rap than to clean vocals for me. I see harsh vocals as a rhythm instrument that gives texture and rhythm and I see rap as a rhythm instrument as well while I see clean vocals more as a melodic instrument instead. Btw the drummer on this album is Gene Hoglan, who is widely regarded as a great metal drummer and has worked with a lot of bands over the years. Wikipedia says that his nicknames are "The Atomic Clock" and "The Human Drum Machine" which is pretty high praise for a drummer if you ask me.

I'm a heavy metal fan, my son is a hip-hop fan. We listen many of his favourite songs very often. Mostly it is modern hip-hop, quite dark beats and all those distorted, modulated mumbling vocals. I always tell him that those songs sound very similar to heavy metal songs to me.

As you stated, the drummer is really good. His symbalic (pun) work is awesome. This album is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg. Still one of the best but it only becomes more and more interesting from here. You should definitely keep diving into Tech Death! I think itd be right up your ally
