I had pretty good weather for the most part with many days of glorious sunshine but hit rain for the last 2 hours of the final day. Put rather a damper.... excuse the pun... on my finish but ALL DAY wet stuff would have made your finale rather miserable. 8:14 Aye that's Ben Nevis alright. So you made it to the bitter end. Well, well, done. No mean feat, Dixie, with restricted lung capacity. Another really lovely video. Filming, editing, just great.
I enjoyed your “Hi y’all Dixie here” equipment reviews but seeing you on trail makes for the best videos on this channel. Looking forward to more of them. BTW: The best of everything to you and hubby.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this Scotland series. We spent an incredible 11 days in Scotland back in 2019 & my biggest take away, other than the fabulous memories, was how incredibly kind and welcoming the Scottish people are and I seriously did not want to go home! I totally got it when you expressed the same sentiments!! Thrilled you conquered Ben Nevis too!!
Congratulations! Thanks, as always, for taking us along for the journey. It is appreciated. You are Amazing. Congrats!!! to the 'first thru hiker' as well.
Congratulations Dixie, Rodney and Baby on the thru hike of the West Highland Way !!! Thank you for allowing me to enjoy this trail with you! Rodney, you rock! Dixie, you are amazing! Baby, you have amazing parents!
One of the best series of videos I've watched of the WHW, the music was perfectly placed, especially loved hearing Highland Cathedral as you made your way to the finish. Congratulations 👏
That visual tribute to Scotland starting at ~ 11:42 and culminating with the crescendo of "Highland Cathedral" brought me to tears. What you said on Patreon was right ... Aaron knocked it out of the park with his editing, built of course on great camera work by Dixie+1.5. Also congratulations Rodney on completing your first thru-hike!
Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 What a journey! Made me so long to be back in the highlands. I think when you visit Scotland it’s hard not to leave a piece of your heart there forever.
An absolutely spectacular adventure and gorgeous videos! Possibly your best yet. I loved the music choices so much! Thank you for taking us on the journey with you. It brought me such joy to follow along. I’ve been wanting to do this trail for a while. You’ve definitely inspired me to keep after it!
Thanks for this serries Dixie. A year ago we spent 3 weeks in Scotland and a lot of that time was spent walking in the mountains. These videos are making me want to go back again very soon! Thank you!
Scotland is a magical place with so much history, verdant green grass and happy, smiling people. Jessica, your choice of music just makes everything a thousand times better. Thanks for taking us along on this wonderful journey.
Such a great view of what it's like to walk the West Highland Way. It's on my maybe list just because there are so many wonderful walks and getting to Europe from Australia is a leap! Lovely to see you two + one tackle and complete the walk. Thanks so much!!
Love it! You know, you've really opened my eyes to how much natural beauty there is beyond the barren tops of hills and bracken that I remember seeing from the train in the West Highlands. I would love to do this hike!
Retired ER nurse here. Congratulations on completing the West Highland Way. Thanks for filming the main drag in Ft William and the statue. It brings back memories from a couple of years ago. We agree with you about the Scottish people. They are wonderful people. So friendly! Stay safe.
fabulous series, dixie! much love, safe travel to all three of you as yiu journey home, and thank you for bringing us along woth you. it may be the only journey to my mother country i'll ever see, but i still hope to follow in your footsteps one day before i'm planted in this good earth. god bless 💗
"Are you scared.... That makes one of us" 😂 I'm sure you experienced roundabouts during your drive; that's a special kind of terror right there 🙃🙃 Thanks for sharing your adventure. Makes me want to go back to Scotland even more!!
Such a beautiful hike, thanks for taking us along! I was stationed in England (Lakenheath) my first two years in the Air Force. I was Security Police, guarding the planes (and shhhh other things), working nights. I wasn't wild about the amount of night, as you noted. When I started seeing sunrise, my body said "yay, I'm getting off soon", then to look at my watch and say "dang, it's 0330, still two a half hours to go"! I only got to Scotland once, to the Isle of Skye where one of our planes crashed. I was so awestruck by the beauty up there, and what amazed me was how much of my sense of distance was thrown off. I'm retiring soon, I need to return there (I'm half Scottish).
Loved your journey! I’ve watched you for a few years. You and the movie “Wild” have unwittingly inspired and pushed me to get out there. I have now completed several multi day hikes and I’m just about to embark on one of Australia’s most amazing hikes, the Larapinta Trail in my 50th year. Thanks for sharing your adventure’s gorgeous girl!
Awesome, congratulations to you both! I'm off to hike it with my son (a first time backer) in August and your videos are making it all very real. Thanks so much for sharing, it's been wonderful to follow along 😊 (right from when you hiked the AT!)
I love your sense of humor, at the beginning of the video when the sheep was eating, you were chanting bubble gum. I thought that was so funny. You are quite the videographer and very good at selecting the music to go with the footage.
Thank you for taking us along. Loved your videography and music. You’ve inspired me to do the WHW. Did the Camino Portuguese in October and the Cotswolds Way in May. Love these walking vacations. All the best on your upcoming birth. Kudos for doing this while being pregnant.
I haven't done WHW, the first time I went to Scotland I knew I wanted to come back though, Definitely a magical place, you two did it justice for sure.
I’ve been following you for a few years now and it’s been great to see you in my home country. I’ve hiked the West Highland Way several times and it is amazing. Done a couple of Caminos and Galicia reminds me of Scotland. At least the rain is warmer there. Congratulations to you and Rodney. It can’t have been easy with a baby on board.
I completed the WHW at the end of May (just missed you😊), and this brought back so many memories. Scotland and its people are wonderful. Congratulations and all the best with your new adventure being parents ❤
After the hundreds and hundreds of Dixie videos I have watched over the years, for some reason the end of this one got me in feels. Not that it hasn't happened before, but this one surprised me. Congrats to you both, not just on the hike, but on life in general. : )
Like you, I'm an American long-distance hiker who this summer got his first taste of the UK. I hiked the Coast to Coast Path in the north of England, and it was a life-altering event for me. I thought ahead of time I was gonna cry when I got to the finish line, but I didn't. But I ain't gonna lie; your finale here brought that all out for me and I had some happy tears reflecting on my experience. Thanks again for doing such a good, human job of documenting your experiences.=) And I'm already planning a 400-mile loop in Scotland for next summer!
Oh wow, Dixie. Just plain wow! This series is some of your best ever. Scotland and the WHW is so beautiful! I hope I get to go there sometime. You're filming, naration, and editing was truly awesome. You are definitely one of the best on UA-cam! Many thanks for all you do...
Great series! Thanks for taking me back to Scotland. We are headed to the Orkney Islands next month for our 2nd time to Scotland (last time we went to Skye). It really is a magical place full of wonderful people. Of all the places I have been around the world, this is one of the places I feel like I could come back to time and time again and not see all there is to see.
Awesome! I really LOVE that you came to Europe to hike this trail, I've been following your channel for the last 2 years now. It inspired me to hike a section of the AT last summer, after visiting a friend in the US. My youngest daughter (she's 11 y.o.) and I start our WHW-adventure next Friday, what a coincidence! We're also gonna climb Ben Nevis and - if there's still juice in the tank after that - hike the Great Glenn Way. Enjoy the baby-on-the-way, all the perks of being a new mom and the loving care and attention from those close to you. Looking fwd to seeing some of your first adventures with the little one!
Fantastic. As a Scot staying just South of Glasgow - so great to see you both in Scotland doing the 'West Highland Way'. Love your channel. All the best for your pregnancy. Hope you come back - or as the saying goes "Haste Ye Back" 😆
Thank you for filming this! I walked the WHW last May and was very lucky with the weather, just one day rain out of eight! Scotland and her people are beautiful and I was very sorry to not visited Scotland before, because it is about one hour flight from The Netherlands where I live... I will definitely be back again 🙂
Having hiked the West Highland Way over 35 years ago with backpacks that weighed an absolute ton, has been lovely to follow your hike. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me to pay it a return visit!
So glad you enjoyed the experience in our neck of the woods. Maybe someday you'll come back for the Cape Wrath Trail and see what the real wilderness areas have to offer. Meanwhile, best wishes for your next big adventure, becoming a mommy!
Well done! Good job! The West Highland Way last year was the beginning of my love for Scotland - with the highlight so far being the Isle of Skye Trail this year.
Terrific journey with you both. Prayers for all three of you as the magic day approaches. A lot of Scottish blood in me, but unlikely to get there. Thanks for your good natured sharing.
Well done for making the huge effort to come to Scotland- such a long way from home for you both! I did WHW in Jan 20, in 4 days, camping, during a winter hurricane- brutal but I felt as hard as nails after ; ) Scotland is ‘not for wooses’.
Oh my, that would have been a tough final day. In my photos of the last day of ourJune ‘23, WHW I found one that matches your video at the 8:00 min mark. The weather was the complete opposite. The sky is almost cloudless and we are in t-shirts and shorts. We had to stop numerous times at creeks to cool off. Such is the Scottish Highland weather. But you are tenacious and strong as years of through hiking has shown. Thank you again for sharing your journey.
At last you got the type of weather that I was expecting you to get at some stage. I always appreciate the time and effort that you and other UA-camrs that get out and about, put into making the the outing so much more realistic, with many of the camera shots.
Haha. The building where you said, "If walls could talk." was my dream home for a long time. I dreamt of fixing it up as a cottage and warming hut for walkers. I even eventually called the owners and asked if they would ever sell. They said no, and that they had plans for it. In the meantime it crumbles more every year. 💔 The estate system in Scotland is nutty, but it has helped keep some places like this wild. So beautiful.
Another great adventure, Dixie. You keep this up, by the time you retire there will be nowhere to go that you haven't already been. Lol... Thank you Aaron for the expert videography.
Meal do naidheachd! 🎉🙌🏼 Pity you had a soggy end to your WHW hike, but tbh you were quite lucky with the weather compared to what we've had this 'summer'. That was special. Great to see you and your husband enjoy the hike so much. The film quality as usual is outstanding.
Loved loved loved this hike vlog. So satisfying in many ways.
“It Hurts!” I agree very accurately described. Congratulations on the first thru hike.
I enjoyed your “Hi y’all Dixie here” equipment reviews but seeing you on trail makes for the best videos on this channel. Looking forward to more of them.

Yes same and I've watched a lot since doing the hike myself earlier in the year.
Congratulations 🎉. Loved following along. The West Highland way has been on my bucket list for years, just so beautiful ❤️
Such a great series! Well done you two! 🥳🥳
What a lovely series of videos, I really enjoyed watching them, thank you.
Very beautiful place. I really enjoyed this series, Dixie and Rodney. Congrats on your first thru-hike, Rodney ! I'm glad Jessica fell for you. ❤
Actually, it was Rodney falling for her in the video she did about her hammock. 😁
Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 What a journey! Made me so long to be back in the highlands. I think when you visit Scotland it’s hard not to leave a piece of your heart there forever.

Awesome trip! I'd love to go see Loch Ness for myself... and I see you got the lake monster on camera.. nice! 😉
Thanks for the video
Wow what an experience.
So beautiful.
Dixie you are such a cute person. Always love it when you talk to the animals. No matter how small.=)
Congratulations on a successful finish! Looking forward to a Ben Nevis video... 😊
Congratulations, your portrayal of my homeland and the West Highland way has been wonderful to watch, thank you.
Babys first through hike too.😃😃😃

Nice Nessie spotting! Congratulations!!
😉
Congratulations. The series went quickly. I have enjoyed it so much. The scenery was amazing. I'm glad to see you spotted Nessie!
Congratulations you two! Awesome job! 🥳🎉
You nailed it! It was exactly as I remembered from 2 years ago. I thought the daily deluge of rain only added to the ambiance.
About 11 min, "Mountain Cathedral" one of my favorite Bagpipe pieces., Thank you Aaron!
After the hundreds and hundreds of Dixie videos I have watched over the years, for some reason the end of this one got me in feels. Not that it hasn't happened before, but this one surprised me. Congrats to you both, not just on the hike, but on life in general. : )
Superb music choice of the massed band and choir at 12’.
Well done all.
Fantastic , Well Done .! .. you even found Nessie.

I’ve been to Scotland and Highlands three times. Everybody loves Scotland. I don’t think it has any enemies in the world.

So happy for you guys, thanks for sharing.
Absolutely magical. I now have a new place on my bucket list
Really enjoyed this series. Next time you are in the UK try Wainrights Coast to Coast - absolute classic,
Terrific journey with you both. Prayers for all three of you as the magic day approaches. A lot of Scottish blood in me, but unlikely to get there. Thanks for your good natured sharing.

Scotland is ‘not for wooses’.
Glad y'all had the chance to go and experience it together.
Beautiful video - congrats!
Scotland is gorgeous! Congrats. And a perfect finish with music from the one and only Amy MacDonald, a great end of a wonderful WHW vlog.
Thx a lot

Not me at work on my lunchbreak, tearing up watching the finale montage 😭
This was such a special series- thank you for sharing. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Great job. My son and I walked the WHW last September. You really captured the trip.
Wonderful videos, thanks for bringing us along.
Congratulations you two, on your thru hike….and Baby makes three. Thank you for allowing us alongside. Scotland is magically beautiful! ✌️🙂💚
Congratulations on completing the hike... I have to confess to choking up a bit with homesickness.
Another great adventure, Dixie. You keep this up, by the time you retire there will be nowhere to go that you haven't already been. Lol... Thank you Aaron for the expert videography.
Meal do naidheachd! 🎉🙌🏼
Pity you had a soggy end to your WHW hike, but tbh you were quite lucky with the weather compared to what we've had this 'summer'.
Fun Fact: The Scottish Highlands, the Appalachians, and the Atlas are the same mountain range, once connected as the Central Pangean Mountains - which were taller than Everest!
