Fun Fact: Sutekh is voiced by Gabriel Woolf, reprising the role from Pyramids of Mars. He also voiced the Beast in The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.
I’ve heard people say it’s about their “recent adventures”. Not sure exactly what that means, maybe unseen footage? Hopefully it is pyramids as that would be awesome!
This was the best reveal and build up to an old villain we’ve ever had. I just loved it. I can’t believe we’re gonna get Sutekh after almost 50 years voiced by the same person. Who had retired in 2015. So it’s such a great fine.
I love that the fan theories were all addressed in the cold open. LOL I wonder now if Mrs Flood is either Susan after opening a Chameleon Arch or will end up being the hero that saves things. Just because she was aware of Sutekh's plan doesn't mean she was a participant in it, just that she was waiting for her moment to strike.
First time the trickster has been mentioned since like 2010 in Miricle Day from Torchwood. I really hope this could mean the trickster could return he was such an amazing villain in Sarah Jane. And Sutekh coming back is sooo major I love that modern who is increasingly bringing back stories, villains and characters back from classic who it just makes the world feel more connected from the old to new stuff.
watched a lot of reacts and some podcast...in one of them the actress who plays Mel was asked to describe the finale in 3 words, and she said: epic, hartbreaking and i dont remember the 3`rd one, but whaaaat will happen? i think i wasnt so excited before one episode since season 4 episode 12( when david tennant fake regenerated at the end of episode).. anyway, without the last episode i can say thank you russell for coming back! :) btw, we still have a lot of unanwsered questions, and probably one eipsode is not enough to get an anwser to all of them, so lets goooo
It was my birthday today so it was nice to get this episode today. Saw some theories about it being sutehk returning glad it was the case definitely enjoyed this episode looking forward to the finale next week.
That cliffhanger was mind blowing. It said the trickster. Do you remember him. He was in The Sarah Jane Adventures. I got a feeling Ruby not human. Her mother was part of that and she try to get away from them but she had to leave Ruby behind to protect her from him and she was pointing at The Doctor because she was choosing him to look after her in the future.
I cant beleive they brought back Sutekh! Sutekh used to terrify me as a child, he has a more human like form btw, not just the creature you see here, and when he was unmasked in classic who, it used to give me nightmares lol. He is is the daddy of all baddies. One of the big big bads of all Doctor Who in terms of his power.
What a fantastic episode. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I thought Sutekh might be returning but I still felt the shock factor. I feel hugely empathetic towards Susan Triad; it seems that Sutekh completely used and possessed a very ordinary, very nice woman. Harriet's harbinger speech was bloody terrifying. Who is Mrs.Flood? She seemed evil here but there's just enough ambiguity, I think, to turn that around again. What if Flood is Susan and comes to save the day? But, only after letting her grandfather suffer with Sutekh a little bit for abandoning her!? She certainly seems to be a timelord since she spoke about "hiding away" in a way that mirrored the doctor's explanation of regeneration to Ruby. Sutekh has rubies in his head. I really hope for Ruby's sake that she's not Sutekh's child 😅
There's still a possibility that Jenny, the Doctor's cloned daughter from series 4 (played by David Tennant's wife and daughter of Peter Davison, Georgia Moffett) could end up being Susan's mother.
I felt similarly to you, I think. The episode was very good, and the way the tension built was great. That said, an awful lot now hinges on the finale, as this episode was essentially all about the reveal of Sutekh, and we didn't really get anything more on how it all fits together with the other mysteries of the season. Not an issue, but yeah, lots to fit into next week - I hope they pull it off. Couple of other things; I loved that moment between the Doctor and Kate when they have a little heart-to-heart, and the subsequent glare she gives him after Cheetham Hill is turned to dust where you can tell she might just be re-thinking her earlier comments slightly. I thought Millie Gibson knocked it out of the park in the time window scene, too.
Loved the hint of the Unit Rocks theme at the start of the episode. Still desperate to hear the Doctor’s theme with Ncuti - thought that chat about regeneration would be it 😢
Yes Sutekh is from classic who. The Pyramids of Mars. I would suggest that you watch it to learn the backstory. It's a fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane episode.
Agreed, this episode reminded me why I love Doctor Who. Not to say the others were bad. They’ve mostly been mid/fine to me. But this one was really good :)
Sutekh is regarded as one of the best Dr. Who villains of all time the last of the osiren race and the most poweful foe the Doctor has ever faced it is also voiced by the same actor from 1975 Gabriel Woolfe i look forward to seeing your reaction to "Pyramids of Mars" when you eventually get there it's one of the greats. However i am alittle concerned about how RTD and Disney are going to handle the character in next week's episode i just hope they don't ruin him like they did with Davros if RTD wants to ruin characters he should ruin his own characters and leave other peoples creations alone.
Hamza, I’m gonna say this. I would suggest you Watch the Pyramids of mars before ‘empire of death’. I know you’re watching the stories in order but to get a better understanding of Sutekh and what it is, watch the story. This is just an opinion, not trying to make it seem like I’m forcing you to 😊
@@HamzaReactz The details have just dropped - TotT on thursday is Pyramids of Mars but edited as a feature to lose 15 mins, remastered & new effects - just bear in mind there's the original edition.
Brilliant episode! Loved the way it started by leaning in to all the things we'd been drip fed over the series so far.....and then pulled the rug out from under us! Sutekh! My jaw literally dropped! I have found in the past that where there is a 2 part finale, the first part is often brilliant but then the second part is not so great, because it's job is to mop up all the mess - all the tension and big reveals really happen in Part 1. Best example of this (IMHO) is Sound of Drums/ Last of the Timelords. I'm predicting the same will be the case next week. I still don't buy into the Mrs Flood=Susan theories. My argument is that when the TARDIS first landed outside her house she didn't seem to know what it was. It was only when she saw it actually materialise that she realised it was a TARDIS. If she was Susan, she'd have known right from the start that it was specifically The Doctor's TARDIS.
I really thought it was satan from the satan pit and the impossible planet, i know it was the same voice actor but i i didnt actually expect it to be sutehk, my god i thought it was the flaming trickster before this episode 😂😂😂

I know some people have suggested waiting for tales of the tardis rather than watching pyramids in full but I don’t think there has been officially confirmation that it will be pyramids of mars and if it is it will be cutting bits to fit in so I would definitely suggest just watching the original four parter.

It will be interesting to see if the next series will stick to this idea or similar to Jodies era they go from one extreme to the next with a preferencr on old.

Try to make sense of that one out of context.
