NOTES:
- You can still make loops manually with shapes and layer switchers!
- The smoothness of the loop curve at some points in the video has been affected by an optimisation applied to all polygons which is currently a little heavy handed.
- When I "break apart" the loop, it converts it to basic terrain shapes and layer switchers for further customisation. You can also just construct things like this from scratch.
When will this project get released?
Looks good. Will there be a way to do things like the 4 leaf clover and 8 way loop in the editor, and how would that work? Is it really just a matter of sticking loops made with this tool together?
@@edwardperkins1225 You'd wanna avoid using the loop tool to make those, you'd use the normal polygon tools
@@SonicStudioProjI didn't know the regular tools handled the background to foreground switching that loops do so you can go through them. I guess they do.

I would legit get at least 30 minutes of entertainment just changing the loop sizes in the editor, just making it go wooooop

Something I would like to see in Sonic Studio is the option to change what abilities Sonic & co. can use in the level. For example: you could disable the dropdash and enable the super peel out. And maybe there should be some abilities that are commonly modded into Classic Sonic games, like re curling after bouncing off a spring or canceling Tails' flight.
true even S3 AIR has a way to do that with the Controls Unchained mod
Still need that pitch shifting for the spindash when continuously rev'ing.

It would be amazing if sega saw his project and made it official. Mania was basically a project made by sonic fans, and it turned out to be amazing!! There's some mad potential here

I think this is what Sega needs to fully revive interest in 2D Sonic. But they're probably stupid and won't touch this project.
i already KNOW this would be the best performing sonic game since mania if sega were to pick it up and get it released within the next 2-3 years or so

@@ATSTB It's not the new CSS. It achieves different goals than that one.
It's basically Classic Sonic Simulator's level creator but better. Now I want to play this game even more.

This shows the potential a Sonic Maker game similar to the Mario Maker games has. People would be so hyped for this if it were an actual Sonic game. Full $60 price tag and everything.
Okay I know Sega doesn’t usually jump in on stuff like this.. but this, this is impressive. I’m amazed and excited yet also worried.

Given they said they have no plans to make a sonic maker, the risk is low

Honestly, I feel like this project turns out to be better than any official piece of software could be.
Everything looks so easy that I feel like 7 year old me could do it - Really awesome footage so far!
When I was a kid…
I both liked hot wheels and sonic.
They can both go through loops
And in Sonic 4 ep1 and ep2 (the game I grew up with) The boosters looked like hot wheel boosters
We can still make loops manually, right? Either way I'm just glad that stupidly giant loop Cinossu posted in 2014 can finally become a reality (look up "Green Hill Zone Act 1.. with an addition" if you're not in the know)

I understand if your premise for this game is to create individual levels, perhaps, if the base game releases at any point, a second update would release allowing for more worldbuilding. Things such as stringing together multiple levels, cutscenes perhaps, but in my humble opinion, in my unrealistic imagination, custom blue spheres/half pipe chaos emerald stages. I’m absolutely amazed by the masterpiece of an editor you have created, and I eagerly await its release (whenever it’s completely ready.)

i really like the gradient look on the layer switchers, makes it more intuitive as a flat line than the solid boxes of the old visualization

Glad to see terrain is worked out pretty well in engine. It does make me wonder about objects and alternate zones though. It's up to you, but here's what I think would be worth adding if possible:
More from S3&K. Would love Angel Island (before set on fire), Ice Cap, Death Egg, ect. Hope we get these:
Level Mechanics
1. (Ice Cap) trampolines, crushers, and spindash swing up platforms.
2. (Death Egg) gravity reverse switches/elevators, moving conveyer belt platforms
3. (Chemical Plant) tubes with branching, and the option for it to automatically choose a direction and move forward if none is pressed before reaching the branch center. That's for if you want the flow unbroken and a challenge as I do.
Every Level Tools
A way of doing a custom path for a moving platforms is also something that could add a lot to levels.
Any plans for level creators to have the ability to string multiple levels into a game?
I was waiting for you to make the loop so big that a spindash wouldn't be enough speed to do it and you'd then demo the peel out. Still crossing my fingers!!

Wow this looks amazing! Can’t wait for more to come of this project but quick question, will this game have themes/styles like Mario Maker as in how you can make a level based on SMB1, SMB3, SMBW, etc. or are you going to let the community do some modding?
