Mathew 23:9 refers to the godhead father , Only the one true God Is our father God, but reflect on verse 8 also. “Do not be called rabbi , for one is your teacher “, are we to literally call no one rabbi? Of course not , but we must not view any person as our ultimate teacher , the one true God Jesus Christ . Unless you got the shot with the specific desire to separate yourself from Christ and you hold that desire in your heart until death, you are not damned. Instead of preaching to them, let them see with their own eyes the change in you. Be patient, forgiving, humble, generous, serve them at every opportunity, be the first to say sorry after a disagreement, desire their happiness before your own, work hard; when they begin to glimpse these things, perhaps they will believe your words. Simply love them. When Christ is present in you, It will no longer be your words alone. God bless you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss Anna, especially under these circumstances.
You need to give yourself time and space to allow your grief to reveal itself. The shock of such a death does not always affect us immediately, or else the effects are only apparent with time.
Try not to make any big decisions in your life for a while, we can easily make mistakes when we are experiencing such intense loss.
If you find anger or other such feelings appearing, don’t fall into guilt or other complications, just accept what you are feeling for now. None of us follows the exact same pattern in grief, so don’t feel you have to follow any particular pattern of reaction.
In the midst of your pain, pray for your father. I know there will be those who only condemn the one who takes his own life, and it is a terrible sin, but trust in God’s mercy and have hope that God finds cause to save him. Your prayers will bring comfort and relief. Ask your priest to pray too, complete as many of the 40 days that are left, and then keep praying for him for the rest of your life. This way his situation will be helped, and you, while you are still on earth, may find comfort in being able to do something practical for him. If you are able, perform an act of charity on his behalf.
Suicide can attract all kinds of darkness, it affects us mentally, emotionally and spiritually. But if you put your hope in God’s mercy, you can prevent despair from taking hold of you.
Make your confession and receive Holy Communion - this will bring you strength.
By posting your comment here there will be many praying for you, God bless and hold you.

Instead, God would now steward His laws and precepts through all races of people who obeyed Him, and accepted the Messiah Jesus, under the New Covenant, which gave all believers circumcised hearts, made them priests, and made their bodies Temples. Israel still exist, but is no longer based on race, but rather on faith.

I am not Fr Spyridon, but I struggle to see any Orthodox clergyman condoning horror games or movies. Anything that stirs the senses towards sinful thoughts and desires is evil, horror games and movies increase our sense of morbidity and nihilism and decreases our distain towards violence and sadism, even senseless violence through entertainment is problematic as it influences our thoughts and emotions. There is no holiness to be found in this. Avoid this poison of the mind. ☦️

I would say it depends brother, if the horror games are satanic then it's obvious we shouldn't play it. If you feel convicted when you watch one or play one then it would be best not to do so. Romans 14:23 - But he who is uncertain [about eating a particular thing] is condemned if he eats, because he is not acting from faith. Whatever is not from faith is sin [whatever is done with doubt is sinful]. So if you doubt and think it may be sin then run from it, it is sin unto you.

Don't push yourself, you will fail. What worked for me was starting by saying the 3 last Psalms (148,149,150) every day: great Psalms of praise. Make a sacrifice of praise every morning! And tell your spiritual father your intentions and get his blessing. You will find then that you will want to pray more and you will recoil from darkness and things not of God's creation more and more........ so no need to ask the question about horror movies, over time you will lose your taste for them. Greetings from Orthodox Romania!

The devil was after me since I was born, my live was always pain and suffering like I've never belonged to the herd, I've never tasted the promised life (psalm 23).
How can I fully approach a new life due repentance with hellish pain not being taken away from me. After all, it was my choice but I repent.
If I were an angel without knowing, can it be forgiven too, is there hope? or do I need to suffer until the end? It breaks my body and spirit.
20 years are over now, thus I had the chance to remember the deal, but I won't give in. There's no way to escape but with God, but what do I need to do, and how to do it right?

the encounter with Christ that converts the humans heart, according to Paul , Paul and Jesus is the gospel via knowing God's Word:
"I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Rom 1:16)
How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? *_So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God._* (Rom 10:15-17)
    Peter confirms this:
"Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, *_by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever_*
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: *_but the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you._* (1Pt1:22-25)
The Lord said, "IF you continue in my Word *_THEN_* you are my disciple indeed and you will know the truth and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31-32) bc the Word of God is " able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
_*That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works*_. (2Tim3:15-17)

Considering how many people from different backgrounds are posting here I'll start off with a basic introduction then work from there. I am Eastern Orthodox Christian just like Fr. Spyridon here is, we are part of the church that goes directly back to Christ. So my answer is coming from the same perspective.
Those who have moved on from this world have already been judged. The Saints are in heaven praying for our souls constantly with the angels. In the book of Revelation they intercede offering up incense to the Lord which is the prayers of those on Earth (Ch. 5 and 8 if I recall correctly). In the book of Tobit the archangel Raphael says he is one of the angels that intercedes for us. If I also recall, Revelation also shows Mary interceding for us.
We don't pray to the saints, only God. We ask the saints to pray for us. Now the question is why do we do this? Answer we love those the Lord loves and as the Bible states, the prayers of the righteous avail much. Do you ask people to pray for you? Do you pray for others? That's intercession, you are praying for someone else's soul or asking someone to pray for yours. People who reject intercession by that logic reject praying for others or asking others to pray for them. How wonderful to have people praying for you and asking them to pray for you.

You are absolutely in the right to pray for others and ask them to pray for you. Where it gets questionable is invoking those who have died, declared saints or otherwise, to do so, and is thought by some to be a form of necromancy, a forbidden practice.@@florida5236

. Hi Michelle! When I venerate an Icon of a saint, my prayer is too thank God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, for giving us the saint who helped keep his words for us.
I understand your reluctance, I do not believe it is a Dogma that we must ' pray to ' saints, I have prayed to God for the gifts given to saints.
I think that 'worship' is inherent in our understanding of prayer, so I assume I do not know the ' proper way ' to ' pray to ' a saint.
It should not be a reason to avoid the Church, i humbly recommend avoiding these things you are not comfortable with, and when you feel ready, discuss with the priest. I still am not ready...
      Love to you!
      Michael

I don’t know about other denominations, but I know that orthodoxy is the apostolic church, the historical expression of Christianity. I can see this through simple historical facts as well as continuity in the church fathers. So I don’t worry about other denominations, because orthodoxy is authentic.

    • @bickboose9364

@@natcampo3 You will never get a definitive standard answer. Some will say protestants are doomed, others will say they are uncertain and that protestants can have glimpses of divinity, but not God's "full message" brought about via Orthodoxy. Basically, everyone views their denomination as the definitive way to serve God. Orthodoxy is no different in this regard and believes you _CANNOT_ have a *truly genuine* relationship with God outside it, only a glimpse of what it's like.
