They are a rock band, with elements of metal, punk, jazz, old school rock, etc. I grew up with the Beatles and Zep. These ladies can hold there own.
AC/DC, VH and RUSH. I agree 100%
Michael, same as you, Hendrix, Cream, Beatles, Zeppelin, etc and these ladies deserve to be added to rock's elites.
They even sprinkle some hip hop elements at times ;)

My favorite band ever.
If you wanna hear an even faster paced song, Different is their newest song which they made as an opener for an anime (and there are subtitles btw)
If you want a more "regular" rock song, Dice is a good one. It's the one that got me into them.
The two most popular ones which go over well with reactors are Domination and Freedom. Please, if you choose one of those, go with the live versions found on their YT channel from Feb 14th 2020. Trust me, you will be told constantly to watch them live instead of the MVs lol
Lastly, if you want something slower and more melodic, Daydreaming is the perfect one and is one of my all time favorite songs.

Check out "Domination"live or almost any of their other videos if you want to see their faces. One thing you will see besides their phenominal musicianship, they really enjoy what they are doing. They are a feel good band. If you want to hear them sing in English the whole way through then watch "The Dragon Cries" which David Bowie's producer worked with them on.
Band Maid is currently one of the best Hard Rock band in the World right know.
They are very technical as their songwriting and composition are genious.
If you are a technical musician you will be able to spot those technical compositions on all of their songs.

Thank you for Reaction BAND MAID. BAND MAID is a 5-member girls rock band. They are hard rock band and are now considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually perform 23 songs and 2 hours live. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara Tokyo and had the idea of playing hard rock with a maid costume. That's why the band was named Band-Maid. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, played 2 million times in two weeks and saved them from breaking up. At that time they were just around 20-23 years old. And then they have been doing LIVE overseas and increasing their fans. Now they are writing, composing and arranging all the songs. 31 songs have been released on their official UA-cam, all of which are killer songs.

Akane Hirose : Drummer, good at funny faces, She is a big eater. She loves anime. She has a lot of friends.
Misa : Bassist, stage drinks are liquor, play with bare feet. She is the most shy and reticent. good at cooking
Welcome aboard gents...so much fantastic music from this band. This collection of world-class musicians will quickly become one of your favorites; Thrill was their breakout MV, Different is their latest release. They don't show you their faces so you wont get distracted from the music. 😉

I have a feeling you’ll love the official MV for “Dice” and “Bubble”. If you want to see them live, “Domination” would be my best recommendation to start with.
All of them are available on their official youtube channel.
You'll get to see their faces in other videos, especially the live ones. One of my favorites is Akane the drummer who always has a huge grin on her face while she's beating her kit into submission.
Their base sound is kind 80s-90s rock with hybrid rock & j-pop vocals. Onto that they have pop-punk and metal influences. Their secondary influences are very eclectic, but they do have a signature sound of their own. They tend to make an impression very quickly. Get ready to rock. Give the "Dice" video a try than go for the live stuff. They have loads of good songs.

This group is better live than in their music videos. You need to listen to a well-mixed version of their live shows, though (not cell phone recordings). Look for the songs "Domination" and "Freedom" from their live show on Feb 14 2020 at Line Cube Shibuya. Your respect for their musicianship and stage performance will go way up.

To be fair, this is more Hard Rock rather than Metal. The official lives are amazing as they usually add some solos and stuff and the audio mixing is great (except that the lead guitar is a bit low in my opinion). But they are amazing live. And they have fun! They shine with joy when they're on stage!

5 ladies with more talent between them than all the rappers, hip hoppers and ganstas between them. The lead guitar, Kanami, writes all the songs, taught the rhythm guitarist to play, is a classical trained pianist and has a degree in economics. She can also sing.
They have more videos that show more of them. But this one was more of a challenge to emphasize the song on such a minimal set.
You really need to check out their live videos, they won't disappoint.

The way this video was shot was a stylistic choice, almost all of their other videos will provide better show of each member. This track is a bit older and still plans a little towards their pop rock side. Newer tracks are harder and heavier. Recommend checking out live take to really see and hear what they can do, specifically: Domination, Freedom, and Play are really a great introduction to the band.

Once upon a time in Japan....
Miku (Who is a 300+ year old pigeon... long story) was in a short lived "idol" band in Japan and ended up working in a "Maid Cafe". She came up with idea to create a rocking band in maid costumes. A "Gap" as its called in appearance to action.
Miku found singer/songwriter Kaname (Lead Guitar and main Composer), who knew Akane - AKA "The Gorilla - she likes bananas a lot! (drums - Jazz and Classically Trained), who knew Misa - AKA the "Barefoot Assassin" (Bass, Jazz and Classically trained).
[Grab a post-it now and paste to your desk - Miku (B/U and Rhythm,) Kaname (Lead) Akane (Drums) Misu (Bass) Saiki (Vocals)]
Putting it together...
It became apparent Mikus voice wasn't really suited to the style and so they decided to go find Lead Vocals and brought in Saiki. This basically put Miku out of a job in the band she created, but instead she adapted and Kaname started teaching her guitar. That's right. She couldn't even play in the first video they did 6 years ago. Now she has a 70-80s style aggressive punk style attack on rhythm and Kaname is constantly expanding her guitar parts in challenging ways. All while singing backup.
Personally, I never could sing and play ha-ha
Their first actual song they wrote and recorded was "Alone". They have changed label since and have joined a new one now for the new album going into 2021. Their look, songs, style etc. are their own. Not studio directed.
Pretty cool these days.
Note: Miku is the main lyricist and writes in heavy metaphors that can be interpreted many ways and often confusing in translation. So, they often add parts that audiences of any language can sing along.

You guys should check out any of their Live performances from their Feb 14th 2020 show, directly on their official UA-cam channel. Freedom is a bit of their more traditional Rock performances, but it's well lit and can see their faces.

Band Maid, like many other Japanese bands, are so much better live. In my view their music videos are pretty poor with one or two exceptions. Miku, who plays rhythm guitar, use to work in a Maid Cafe´ in Japan and had the idea of cute maids playing rock. If you venture further into Band Maid, you will discover this is very true. It all started with their song called Thrill, which thanks to UA-cam, saved them from disbanding as the release of their first CD in Japan, did not sell particularly well. Welcome to Band-Maid. they do varying rock genres: pop rock, soft rock, rock ballads, punk rock, classic rock, hard rock, heavy metal. the coolest thing is, they are even BETTER LIVE!! I do however recommend go thru their music videos 1st so that you can experience it before your mind gets blown with the LIVE versions!

Actually you can only see the faces of the two vocalists. It will always be a blur for the Lead Guitar, Bass and Drums. It has always been that. If you want to see them clearly, watch the concert videos.

Stop begging for English on songs by artists that don’t speak English! Just enjoy the musicianship and artistry of these girls. Japanese people listen to a lot of Western music and they don’t complain about it not being in Japanese! This is why they are nicer than you. 😂
No matter how good you think you play a musical instrument, there is a Japanese Lady who plays it better! (paraphrased/stolen).
First Band Maid has been touring in the UK for several years. They write, arrange and produce their music. All are highly talented, professional musicians with experience as background/secession musicians. Last year they worked with producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T Rex) on a the song "The Dragon Cries".
It's not metal it is ROCK. The lighting for the MV was a director being artsy! Check their official live MV's. Domination is good start.

I'm a band-maid fan, but when it comes to metal, lovebites is probably no.1. I like the way band-maid sticks to their distinctive formula though.

Blooming isn’t probably the best song to introduce one to Band Maid, because there awesomeness cannot be fully appreciated. FYI, Band Maid is the best hard rock band going, in the entire world. Watch their very first video “Thrill” and expand from there. The live performance versions of “Moratorium”, “Play”, “Freedom”, & “Domination”. Their live versions are always better than the studio originals. Enjoy, mates !!!
