      I really enjoyed this particular Home Friday. Mr Foust loves nothing more than to mix it up with the fans in the audience. He gets really sarcastic sometimes and the fans just encourage him. They seem to love him more for it. They all know he has a loving heart.

    Another great collaboration between these 2 guys. Love the contrast in their voices but they blend nicely. And always love it when Tim hits those low bass notes. Tim is one of the few people who can do justice to a Josh Turner song. Hard to believe it is just 2 voices supplying all the sounds. Chris is very good at arranging & layering the music he does. The song is meant to be somber. Josh Turner who wrote it said the train was a physical metaphor for resisting temptation & deciding whether or not to go on this train. I saw the behind the scenes of making this & it was done live not with a green screen.

      Did NOT mean that as a criticism of Chris about religion. No,no,no.

  • @justkaron
    @justkaron 7 місяців тому +24

    This is an old gospel song. There is a part of the lyric saying "cling to the Father and his holy name." Chris is very religious, I think. The long black train will ride you to sin and perdition. And, both of the guys said it was not a green screen. They were on railroad tracks.

    I understand what you mean about Chris. His voice is great and he does a wonderful job, but in the midst of Home Free his voice was overshadowed. I’ve listened to some of his solo work and I really like his version of Poor Wayfaring Stranger. They were using actual railroad tracks, after checking with the railroad about where and when it was safe to film (Thus the warning at the beginning -- they didn't want to encourage dangerous behavior).
    Chris did most of their early arrangements, so you can largely blame it on him that he didn't feature himself more. When the arrangement was by Austin or Tim or Adam, he was more likely to be featured. But the baritone is the part that's most likely to get lost in the mix, so that didn't help.

    Chris was one of the founders of Home Free. He did the arangement and layering of this song. It was done on active train rails in open air nature. Chris has a video of how this was made on his music channel. He was the one that wore the cowboy hat so mush of the time on Home Free before he left in 2016. And Adam Chance took his place.

    1. Not a green screen. It was filmed on the tracks. Pretty sure Chris did a filming of video for this. 2. The notice at the beginning about railroad accidents was there because they actually filmed on tracks and they put that notice in for public safety. 3. This song was written by country singer Josh Turner (another baritone/bass singer) and Tim is excellent at singing Josh Turner songs. The song, according to Josh Turner, is about resisting the temptation. That even though the train looks awesome and seems to be going somewhere, it is going no where. Chris did a great job with this arrangement. Chris does a solid mix of things, both acapella and with instruments. He is an excellent piano player btw. He was part of his sister's acapella group, 7th Ave. and now sings with a group of friends in "Cypress Fyre" which they are working on an album (with instruments) He also has his own stuff ranging from just religious to hilarious (check out his cover of "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie Movie! He has done some originals, some collabs and toss in some competitive swing dancing and actual producing and you pretty much have Chris in a nutshell. He just loves all aspects of music.

    There are reactors who listen to a song twice. First round is just to listen, the second is to hear and understand, if you get what I mean. I wouldn't be at all upset if after listening to a song that you feel you need to watch it again to pick up on what you missed before. It may make the video longer, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just don't overwork yourself! We wouldn't want you to burn out from doing too much.

    The higher harmony sounded more like Chris' 2nd tenor characteristics than Tim's tenor. This song was more of a cautionary tale about choices in life. More than the tragedy of accidental deaths as choosing the type of life that leads to following Satan and winding up in Perdition's void. It was good to hear Chris and Tim blending again. Thanks for doing this son. I'm off to see what the "thing" (think Adams Family) is in you guy's first HF of the day. ☺

    The lyrics may not be especially important in some genres of music, but they are ABSOLUTELY VITAL in country music. The message... the story... is what country songs are all about.
    If you can't catch everything on a first listen, at least listen for the lyrics first in country songs. If you don't hear the message in the song you might as well have not listened to it at all.

    Lyrics can be taken literally, but these are metaphorical -- the devil owns the rails to hell, stay off that long black train. I believe it is an old gospel song. Chris was, and is, known for amazing arrangements, and while I don't know it for a fact, I don't think he sought the spotlight during his years with Home Free. He certainly left his style signature behind, even as he is taking it farther on his own. His voice is beautiful, too -- I love it when he leads.

    I'm pretty sure this was not green screen. I think there's a behind the scenes on Chris' channel. Chris does lots of solo a cappella stuff, but he does often use piano or guitar, too. As for walking through lyrics, I have to say that I, personally, absolutely hate people "mansplaining" lyrics to me. For whatever that's worth. But you do you. I can always just not watch those.

      Thanks, @kmwwrench! I (Jillian) 100% understand where you are coming from on the "mansplaining". My sense is we'd be more speculating / pontificating vs. explaining, and the interpretations are what could potentially be entertaining. Not convinced entirely on the lyric breakdown just yet...think it really will be dependent on the song and how we deliver. Appreciate your honestly and hope to see you soon! ❤️🥷🏻

    This is about the people who don't know Jesus and are lost souls who are down and out considering ending it all or going into the depths of hell. They are saying get to know Jesus and don't go down the wrong road and riding with the devil as a lost soul on the long black train. Chris is into Gospel music and starting his own a cappella group.
