    I love that you are so free with your speech! My story is I was about 13/14 years old we were at a revival conference at a church in Georgia, they call all the youth up and have parents stand behind them, then a man came speaking in tongues and said “Fire” as he placed his hands on the youth, most of the children fell in the floor, and some were speaking in tongues, I on the other hand was like what is going on, so the man comes to me and says “Fire”(spitting as he says it) nothing happens, so then he puts his hands on my stomach and says burn Holy Spirit, nothing happens, then he puts his hands on my head again and I can feel the pressure of him trying to push me back, I hold my ground, so he says let this one marinate on the Spirit then moved on, A female comes up to me and takes me to a back room in the church and tries to teach me how to speak in tongues, “Repeat after me stuff” after about what seemed like eternity (30/45 mins) of me not doing as she says and questioning her, we come out of that room and I go back to my seat, thinking what a bunch of lunatics, this is not God, so started my journey for truth. I am thankful for the experience so I can tell my story, but the manipulation was crazy.

    I had a "Prophetess" tell me publicly I was GOING to speak in tongues to receive my healing. When I asked in a more private whisper, in front of a congregation of 200 or more, "what if the Spirit doesn't lead me to speak in tongues?", her response was to lean in to my ear and say, "Just fake it, they'll never know!" I leaned into her microphone and shouted, "GET BEHIND ME SATAN!" She was never allowed back to our church.

      Yes, the devil can speak in tongues. The devil can enter churches. More than anything, being able to speak in tongues means after we have the gift, we show fruit in our lives. If you want to know if tongues are real, trust in the Holy Spirit and ask Him.

      Yup, it's soooo WICKED! Speaking in tongues has NEVER been part of the Gospel of SALVATION, as WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE, THROUGH FAITH. Only people, like to twist the Scriptures to make that a NECESSITY for being saved (NOT!), causing much CONFUSION, DOUBT & GUILT, in people! :/ GOD is soooo NOT the author of confusion but we KNOW who is...(the father of LIES) :(
      THIS is what the Word/Truth of GOD says about receiving SALVATION & what happens directly AFTER we receive salvation (Scripture below). So, I'd like to know where it says we receive the gift and/or ability to speak in tongues upon receiving salvation or else we have not really been saved ???
      Note Ephesians 1:13 does NOT include/mention being able to speak in tongues upon receiving salvation OR the Holy Spirit. We are SEALED by the Holy Spirit as one of GOD'S born again & baptized, in the Spirit of GOD children (via our SPIRITUAL RE-BIRTH/BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST) & sealed until the day of redemption. We are adopted into the family of GOD at that time, as well. The WORD/TRUTH of GOD says NOTHING about receiving or speaking in tongues or as a REQUIREMENT to be able to receive salvation... Smh
      Note: Romans 8:16 says this...16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God [saved]: (NOT SPEAKING IN TONGUES). [brackets mine]
      Note: 1 John 4:13 says this...13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. (NOT BECAUSE WE CAN SPEAK IN TONGUES)... be not deceived about this, my friends! :/
      (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
      KJV
      15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
      2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
      3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
      4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
      (Romans 10:8-11)
      KJV
      8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
      9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
      10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
      11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
      (2 Corinthians 7:10)
      KJV
      10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
      (Ephesians 1:12-14)
      KJV
      12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
      13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
      14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
      (Romans 8:16-17)
      KJV
      16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
      17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

      @Forg1ven S1nner Not true: the gifts of the Spirit are still at work today. Just not everyone has the gift of tongues.

    • @nancyflores843
      @nancyflores843 3 роки тому

      @Forg1ven S1nner Scripture says there is no difference now. Because we are all one in Christ Jesus.. The only differences are the local customs of the various parts of the world. All gifts are given by the same Spirit. But not all have the same gifts. Sadly, there are many who put on a form of godliness, but deny the power of God. Now, many will claim to be Christian without ever receiving God. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to God but by Him.. Why? Because He is the one who makes possible for the curse of sin and death to be made void. He is the Spirit of Life, and is the Gateway into the Kingdom of God. Only by the filling of the Holy Ghost, He went to prepare a place for us, and came back again in the substance of the Holy Ghost: that where He is, His people may be also.. It is not that hard to understand, that He gathers His people unto Himself by the filling of the Holy Ghost.. Now, there are many bodies of believers, but only one body of Christ. As scripture says; " In my Father's house, are many mansions." So each body of believers, or church family, is one mansion. God is our Teacher, and our King.

    • @nancyflores843
      @nancyflores843 3 роки тому +1

      @Forg1ven S1nner Sorry for you: because you are mistaken.. The true Sabbath for those who receive God, begins when we receive Him. Then, we enter into His rest in that we are no longer in bondage to sin, and everyday is our great day of the Lord. The wedding garment is our righteousness, and the feast is now. The man found without the wedding garment is the carnal man. The world is for the man of flesh: that is his portion.. But when he gives God his world: God will give him a portion of His Kingdom.

    What I don't understand is people "speaking in tongues" during a worship service and then interpreting what they just said. Why didn't they just say it in English to begin with? Also, if the message was real, why was no one else in the congregation blessed with the gift of interpretation?

  • @Grace-xn2om
    @Grace-xn2om 3 роки тому +11

    Lol, I did the same thing when I was around 11 or 12. I belonged to an apostolic church back then, and we weren't allowed to do anything until we were determined to be saved by speaking in tongues. We couldn't sing in the choir, play the tambourine, lead a song, nothing! I wanted to do all those things and more, but after constant weekly tarrying services and not being able to speak in tongues, I thought I wasn't good enough to be saved and that something was wrong with me. I later faked it, and was shocked how everyone was so happy for me and didn't even realize I was faking. It was at that point that I actually started doubting religion and christianity, but I never gave up on it. However, sometime not too long after that experience, something unexplainable did come over me, and even though it felt beautiful, it scared the heck out of me! It only happened a handful of times after that, and I'm now overgrown, lol. So, I know that speaking in tongues is real, but I don't believe that it happens all the time or as often as christians try to act like it does.

  • @christineolivares5378

    This was awesome! I grew up Catholic and in the Charismatic movement. I was never forced like that to speak in tongues, but those people who laid hands on you were blasfeeming the Spirit, for sure. They only cared about tongues, nothing else, and that's horrible.
    Here is a story for you: Please note I'm visually impaired. I was going to a Pentecostal church for a while, and we were at a prayer meeting of sorts. This guy, who calls himself Apostle (name) was praying for everyone, and then of course he prayed over me for my vision to be restored. I had no issue with this because I believe in healing, and was prayed over all of my life. With this dude, I was half expecting him to pray over my eyes, which he did. However, he dug the palms/heals of his hands into my eyes, trying to push me backwards. Now, I was in a chair, so why he did that is beyond me. I was afraid he was going to pop my eyes out, and I have glaucoma as it is.
    Not only was he digging his almighty strength into my eyes, but he was also screaming at them to "Open in Jesus' Name!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Big huge "no-no" in my book. Now, I have no problem with people laying hands on my eyes, but for the love of God, is being gentle so difficult? Jesus certainly didn't do what this wacco did. Not only that, but screaming? Come on, dude, no amount of screaming, pushing, or exhorting will heal me. Ugh, I wanted to do the very thing to him to teach him a lesson. So there's my Pentecostal story. Oh, and someone else prayed that the demon of blindness would leave...🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😲😲

    I went to a church that asked who hasn't spoken in tongues. It was me and one other kid. They said for us to go up. I didn't. The kid did. All these youth were surrounding him, speaking in tongues. Someone gestured for me to go up. I shook my head.
    I was like, "what in the (literal) Hell is this?"
    Another was, I was a teen and I went to this Pentecostal church. They pushed everyone to go down. Got to me and I didn't. People moved in and two people stood by me. Since I wouldn't go down, they stated praying demons out of me.🤦
    My boyfriend, at the time, asked why I didn't just go down. I said, it's fake. I wasn't playing that game.
    All I wanted was prayer, not to be laid out on the floor.

      BS. You're making it up, just like everyone else since after the Apostalic times, when tongues were actually used for jump-starting the spread of the Gospel. You're only lying to yourself by lying to the internet, because the internet doesn't care and won't hold you accountable. Only you and God know what you're actually doing. Just let go of your need to prove you have the Holy Spirit by jabbering on in front of other people, as if you somehow need to prove to man in person what can be proven to God in silence. God won't think any less of you for admitting you don't speak in tongues... it's such a tiny, insignificant part of our walk with Christ that if it truly *does* matter too much to you to let it go, then perhaps it's become your idol. CRAZY HOLY SPIRIT STORY
    so i was at this summer canp with my friend. Im just baptist, but this camp is a holiness church. And if youve ever heard those people pray, or preach... MAN THEY GET LOUD. So there was a prayer time and alter call. At my baptist church everyone prays quietly to themselves, but at that holiness camp..... if your prayer wasnt out loud then you weren’t praying. So i can barely hear myself think. Anyway, people started goin up to the alters and it seemed like EYERYONE in the camp went up. Well they prayed over many of the people individually. So we were already waaaay past the time it was supposed to be over. Anyway, after a majority of the people were finished praying, they started saying testimonies. Well, long story short, we were up till 12:30 because of that. The sermon started at like 9:00 to give ya some idea of the time. But i gotta give it to them. Everyone (including me) was so filled with the holy spirit we didnt even mind. This story was no where near as crazy as shamma’s, but i thought I would share 😉

    A few months ago I was at a prayer meeting at church and the leaders of the meeting asked for those who wanted the gift if speaking in tongues to come up to be prayed for. I was told to move my mouth and make sounds and it would happen and develop with practice. This sounded off, but I put my trust in the process and started to form words. It was me forming the words...the prayer leader encouraged me to continue and I explained that I didn't think it was the Holy Spirit and was met with a blank response.
    Several weeks later I was alone in my room praying for the gift, much like I was instructed at the prayer meeting however this time all I did was begin by making sounds like "ba-ba, da-da" and within a few moments the Holy Spirit came upon me and took over and I was speaking in a tongue unbeknownst to me. It came so quickly and I almost felt as though I couldn't keep up with the fast pace the words were rushing out of my mouth. There was no doubt in my mind that this was the Holy Spirit. I haven't been able to reproduce this experience. However, the other night again I was following a prayer and even before I could open my mouth to make a sound the Holy Spirit took over and words came from my mouth that I have never heard. I was shocked and doubt crept in and I stopped. I believe that these were the only 2 times I have spoken in tongues but I can't even say that it was I speaking in tongues because it wasn't me but the Holy Spirit. I don't know that this is the same experience as other folks but it was amazing and I pray and trust God will develop (or not) this gift in me for His glory.

    I have been a die hard Southern Baptist Christian for about 30 years. About a year and a half ago I started speaking the Holy Language while praying. There are many Baptists that have this gift but they don't tell anyone because it is taboo in the Baptist church. I also am a member of a non-denom church that encourages the Holy Language for a person's prayer life. It is not practiced in a group setting because that is not biblical. The pastor grew up Baptist as well. I used to not believe in it until it happened to me and it really has taken me to a whole new level in my walk with God. Our pastor explains it like this. When we get saved we get completely filled with the Spirit. He illustrates it like this, you are a bottle filled with water. Baptism of the Spirit with tongues is like throwing the bottle into a swimming pool so that you are not only filled to the top on the inside but you are completely submerged on the outside as well. I love my prayer language. I don't like to call it speaking in tongues because that has such a negative connotation. I prefer to call it my prayer language.

      Let me ask you... Why did you have to type that? Would the Holy Spirit not have heard you if you just said a prayer in your mind? Why the need to display your piety for others to see? You've gotten 10 "thumbs up" already... is it enough?
      The entire Pentecostal/Nazarene/Holiness cult idea revolves around the idolization of the ego... being *seen* as holy and pious by others, for all the earthly rewards of self-love and pride... like the Pharisee proclaiming to God loudly that he is not like the lowly tax collector, or the one dropping his many coins loudly into the offering box in front of many worshippers while the widow quietly places her two pennies. Jesus had a lot to say about such people, and called them many things... snakes... hypocrites... whitewashed tombs. Bright and glorious in appearance on the outside, but rotten and dead on the inside.
      Just read the book. Your relationship with God is about repentance and obedience, not faking holiness for the approval of others.

But I know deep down that God is all loving and he doesn’t want to hear my dumb apology that’s driven by false guilt. I can’t say for sure because I haven’t got there yet, but the further you walk in your christian journey the closer you get to understanding who God is and our relationship with him. It’s a father and son relationship, we laugh, he laughs with us, we sin, we wants nothing more then to forgive us. And what the other guy said about being self righteous, you are being honest not self righteous. All of us need help and the more honest you are, the more help you will get.

    It’s not really a funny story, but it’s a cool one.
    So this summer my youth group went to a camp in Glorietta and the very first night there was a power outage at worship. It was right in the middle of a really good worship song so everyone was kinda confused and bummed. There was a thunder storm outside, so that’s what caused it partly. The leader of the band that was playing, Brett Land, stopped everyone and got it completely silent and we started singing without any music and a single spotlight, How Great Thou Art. We got to the part that says “I see the stars. I hear the rolling thunder...” and the thunder was so loud, it could be heard inside. Brett just kept saying “God is so amazing.” Everyone could feel the Holy Spirit.
    It wasn’t Satan that caused the power outage to stop us from praising God. It was the Holy Spirit because God wanted the hearts of His people without all the sounds and lights. It was awesome.

Some.of my buddies and I noticed a church in town that was offering a free meal every Sunday evening, all we had to do was come to the church service.
    I had never been in a Pentecostal church before, I figured it would be some.organ music and a short sermon.
    Those people were rockin and rollin right from the start! The preacher was making this weird growl/hiss at the end of every sentence, "AND THE LORT SAID COME UNTO ME, HAAAAAA!!! Then he got wild and came down the aisle while someone in the back was writhing around on the floor. I remember my mom talking about Holy Rollers and now I could see it in action.

Or I would try to speak in tongues and it was just mimicking. Makes me despise it all now. So sad and manipulative. I hate that. I am SO thankful that God allowed me to find my non denominational, biblical church. It’s changed my life. No more weird distractions, flags, dancers for attention, people praying false prophecies over me, spying on spirit, financial manipulation with zero practical biblical teaching. Obsessed with healing and prophecies and tongues. So awful. My mom is still in that and always blames her “lack of faith” bc she isn’t healed. I hate it terribly. It infuriates me. I attended a Pentecostal church once, and a similar scenario ensued:. Major pressure for everyone to speak in tongues. This is not biblical and since I was already a Christian indwelt by the Holy Spirit (and did not feel prompted by the pressure to speak in tongues) I simply stood there praying in English, my native language. This did not go unnoticed, and soon I was surrounded by people laying hands on me and pretty much demanding I speak in tongues. I was annoyed at the unbiblical behaviour, but kept quiet until one lady told me to look upwards - she was prescribing how I should pray, as though there was a formula I must follow to receive the gift of tongues. I had in fact been enjoying a time of prayer, with my head down, and I thought to myself how awful & off-putting this experience would be for a non-believer. So I shrugged the people off, telling them i was already filled by the Spirit and please to leave me alone. To anyone confused about speaking in tongues, who has been told it is an essential part of being filled with the Holy Spirit, I encourage you to read the book of Acts and see for yourselves that this doctrine is false. I'm not saying speaking in tongues is always wrong, I'm saying it's not always right.

    This was funny as hell. Don't feel bad, everyone fakes speaking in tongues. It's not real. It's something people learn from others. The bible does not back up this practice. I invite to check for yourself. Speaking in tongues in the bible means speaking other languages, not speaking nonsense. Beware my brother.

    • @christineolivares5378
      @christineolivares5378 6 років тому +6

      Yes, it is. But you are correct in a way. There are two types of speaking in tongues: glossolalia and zenoglossy. Glossolalia is found in 1 Corinth. 14, and this is the speaking in tongues via a prayer language. There is also the speaking in tongues where people understand you when you don't try, and that is called Zenoglossi. That is found in Acts 2 when Pentecost happened. It can get very confusing for sure.

    I had to take it once. We were visiting a church in DC and my parents were highly respected ministers in that circle of churches. Of course 12 year old me had to prove that I had the evidence and was well scripted in speaking in tongues. I got one sentence out that kinda sounded cool and kept rolling with that. From that day forward, I haven’t forgotten the word that rolled off of my tongue. Besides that time, my parents have never heard me say those words again and I’ve never had to prove myself in front of the church again I won!!!

    I remember feeling the pressure to speak in tongues when I was a kid! I don’t have that much of a crazy story, more like just a few memories here and there. Once I was in a prayer circle with my family and they were all speaking in tongues. I think they were all adults and I was the youngest. No one asked me or demanded that I spoke in tongues but I didn’t want to feel left out so I faked it. I was maybe 5-7.
    There was another time where someone asked the youth if they wanted to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues and I didn’t get up to get prayed for. I remember regretting it because the few kids who did get up did start speaking in tongues (though looking back I hope it was real!).
    The gift of speaking in tongues had been such a mysterious thing to me for a long time, which at first scared me, then later excited me. I was curious and as a teen, I wanted to know more. So I sought Him out, went to altar calls at church camp and the like, and the response I got was “the Holy Spirit is already working in you. Just keep going.” No tongues! Looking back I think that was a crucial time for me, as it showed me that I didn’t need to speak in tongues to have the Holy Spirit living within me. Eventually my curiosity and yearning for the gift of tongues dwindled. I figured if God wanted me to have the gift He would give it to me, I didn’t need to feel a pressure to have it.
    Low and behold, in college I’m in a small group meeting and the small group leader asks if anyone wants to stay behind and be baptized in the Holy Spirit. I figured she was referring to the gift of tongues. I was skeptical, but stayed back anyway because I was genuinely curious and figured there was nothing to lose. The small group leader put on music and told us to just pray. If we didn’t know what to pray, we could just give thanks to God for everything He’s done in our lives. I did. I prayed in Spanish. “Gracias, Gracias, Gracias…” that’s when I felt this warmth within my body and in my hands, and they started buzzing. I began uncontrollably speaking what to me sounded like gibberish, but I couldn’t stop even if I tried! I would say “Gra…” and the Holy Spirit would take over and tongues just came flowing out! It’s been over a year since then, and now I speak in tongues as part of my prayer almost every day.
    It is not something that can be forced, nor do I believe it’s a gift God has for everyone. If it is for you, He will give it to you according to His perfect timing :)

    my youth group 5 years ago went to a giant conference in Tennessee where we were surrounded by about 5,000 other teenagers. I was asked by my friend to go down to the center to pray, where my girlfriend was also praying. My girlfriend started speaking in tongues, and so did my friend. then they both started praying for me to speak in tongues, and i panicked, so I faked speaking in tongues. thankfully, it was super loud with the thousands of kids in there, so it was hard to hear. they were so happy for me though. I felt terrible! But I guess it worked out, because her and I are getting married in 3 weeks, and we both run the student ministry at our church! hahahaha.

      Hey Cesar, I used to believe like that too. Now I know that God was talking to the Jews about blasphemy being unforgiveable. We are now in the dispensation of grace. The Bible says Jesus gave Paul the mystery gospel which is 1 corinthians 1-4. There is no unforgiveable sin. ALL our sins were forgiven at the cross. Our only part is believing in the finished cross work. Doing works proves that we don't have faith that what Jesus did on the cross for us was enough.

I did and she was praying "Receive it" and I was trying but it won't working so then I was just speaking quietly and confused like "I am talking, I ain't suppose to be talking" and it was so quiet that she taught it was tongues and was like "yes come on" and in my head I was like "what are you talking about I'm just talking, I don't think tongues is just talking" end of the story she thought I had tongues and told my parents and they was happy but I was like "hehehe yeah I guess"

    For me, when I read the bible I separate the 3 times when christians miraculously spoke in different languages in Acts which were signs of different groups receiving the Holy Spirit from 1 Corinthians. Acts talks about Jews, then Gentiles, then those who had the baptism of John being filled with the spirit and talking to people in their own languages. Acts I believe talks about the use of everyday languages in a multi-lingual church. Speaking in tongues or languages therefore is the enabling of people to accurately put the word of God across in another language. It takes the work of the Holy Spirit to convey the true meaning of scripture in another language and also takes a good theological foundation of the believer to know how to put certain concepts over in a way that the true meaning is understood. It also takes the work of the Holy Spirit to enable people to translate biblical text into another language. This I believe is the true gift of tongues...and those who have a good biblical foundation should seek to learn other languages in order to accurately speak the word of God when they speak to others in those languages.

    When I was in youth group I was crying about not being a great Christian at the front of the church. The pastor and multiple adults were yelling in tongues around me and I kept 'feeling the holy spirit' tryin to over come me. I peeked and it was actually adult hands. I just stopped trying to fight being put on the floor by 'the holy spirit' and they were all so happy when I fell to the ground. I remember just sitting there thinking how none of them know that I in that moment thought they were all crazy. I just laid there and they were all so happy that Jesus had entered me. That was one of the last times I went to church.
