I was going to look it up after I was done with the video because it sounded suspect, I'm thankful I decided to check the comments first. You're a true hero, Yeety Petey 599.
I had no idea he played chess (as in played it well, everyone knows the rules...) His principles were very good, even if the AI was absolute trash tier. It was like a 800 elo player lol. But considering how quickly and naturally the moves came still, I really wanna know what his actual rating is. No way of telling from that game, but at least 1400 I’d say. I’d give so much for him to play a match with me.
"We're doing blitz strategies, okay? Prepare yourself." "I have the white pieces, I'll be doing E4." "Alright, you know what, if you like an open game, I like an open game. That doesn't afear me." "Now we get a little bit of tempo cuz we can move our queen knight side out to force their queen to d-- hat are you doing?" " *What are you doing?!* " Not sure why, but this part of the video kinda killed me, especially that dramatic break into "what are you doing?" lol
I remember seeing this game on the eshop and I laughed and laughed at the price. I'm glad you covered this because it delivers a lot more than I expected. Too bad you didn't check out online in the end, but hopefully we'll see it on the NLSS. This subverted my expectations to an incredible degree.
As someone who loves shogi, go and riichi mahjong, this game has been such a treat for me. There really are no good ways to play those in multiplayer without having to deal with wonky webpages (or in mahjongs case, dealing with tenhou and its user interface.) or playing against computer in Yakuza games. :D
This would be pogs for a nlss I always wanted to see you guys just do an array of simple board games for a nlss segment but i imagine that would be a cluster of a headache to do in something like table top sim.
It's been a long time but legitimately I knew what I was doing in chess when I was younger. I had a 1750 PERF at some point, I think my ELO was around 1500 (in tournament play, not online blitz)
"What's something you really want?" There were so many good memes, "To be tall" "Great pitch" "Six pack abs" "A clever mind" the jokes just keep writing themselves.
NL, a legit concern before you buy this for the crew, I heard this game in true Nintendo fashion has iffy online. Not only laggy play, but a lot of games are limited to 2 players when you would want more, like bowling and stuff.
You only need one purchased copy of the game to play with your friends, they just need to download free supplemental software! It's actually 0 risk to try it out. I really hope to see this pop up in the NLSS provided the online isn't trash edit: I looked it up and I believe I was mistaken, it's only local free multiplayer unfortunately.
cookiebandit18 I remember he talked about it while playing wreckfest before nick left that he gave nick all his twitch ad revenue. No idea bout the other members but I like to imagine NL makes sure his friends are able to sustain themselves
@@cookiebandit18 i believe what he mentioned in terms of payment was more about buying the game for them so that the guests don't have to sink $50 into a possibly one-time thing
I think what surprised me most about this title, even given the price tag, was the level of polish and charm to the game designs. The toy games, although simple, are adorable and unique. And as NL mentioned several times, "they didn't have to go so hard on the soundtrack"!
@@Naxvarus Normally I'm not huge into burns, but I have to admit that was really funny, and probably would have been even if I was on the receiving end. The visual there is just so... I can't even. I can't.
lets gooooo, 42 All Time Classics was one of the absolute best DS games and taught me a lot of games when I was a kid. Hanafuda was definitely my favourite, so much so that I later bought a deck from Japan so I could play it irl. Akayoroshi is a great app for it on Android. For the record the game is actually called Koi Koi; Hanafuda is the name of the deck of cards so idk why its called that but it was that way on DS too. It's especially weird since Nintendo as a company used to sell Hanafuda decks lol
God damn, this is the quintessential family game night game! It even has a little educational benefit as it teaches you about games from around the world. This is a top tier find egg, thank you.
I feel like I could just make a multiplayer game with Golf, Bowling and Curling in it and charge 1000 dollars and NL would pay me for it and buy copies for Team Unity
I'm super pogged up for this game. Just bought it myself, I love having smaller, more mindless minigames to pay while I listen to something or eat to pass the time. Can't wait to see it on the NLSS!
This game could be something we watch you and the crew play all the time and we wouldn't mind it due to its insane variety and stupid clean look and design (overall polish)
As an avid board gamer, I’ll pick this up on clearance just so I could learn some worldly games I’ve been interested in, like Shogi, Mahjong, Backgammon, and Go. But if you actually want to play board games with friends, I’d suggest for a real copy of Ticket to Ride, Splendor, or Catan.
Hey NL, I had a few games you should check out! -Gunfire Reborn -Star Fetchers -ITTA -Door in the Woods Hope this helps! Really excited to see you check these out
Yooo hanafuda. Being half-Japanese growing up in Hawaii, that was a hella household staple. I've also seen Nintendo-branded hanafuda tiles/cards, so I really shouldn't be surprised.
been pogged out of my gourd since this game got announced, been loving being able to play Mancala and Yacht Dice (Yahtzee) online, and finally used this as an excuse to start learning Hanafuda. There are some questionable design decisions with some of the games (the poker implementation kinda sucks), but overall the pack is wonderful and absolutely worth the money if you're trying to play some of the relatively more obscure board games included.
'Ryan in France' He's probably got some weird French last name like Letourneau or something.
honestly this game being a segment on a duo nlss someday would make it an S tier docket
I just want NL and Rob to play this for 3 hours.

Legit, if he started making shit up on the spot during the NLSS and nobody called him up on it, I would fall for it 90% of the time
That chess performance got me so pogged
i desperately want him to get back into chess
He absolutely bodied that AI. So pogged
NL liked my comment, I can die in peace now.

The sass on 'Chess NL', I love it! XD
I'm surprised impressed with the overall presentation, the variety of ways to play it with others without multiple purchases is also sweet

would love to see a golden goblet of all 51 games! pipe dream but still putting it out there!
Still one of my favorite NL clips of all time is him reacting to the music at the very start of the video. He's transfixed immediately!

I feel like there's just something so fitting about NL with his shiny head playing a lot of a game with shiny balls
NL utterly dominating that computer in chess was probably the most excited I've been all week.
