Honestly it makes me really happy to see the cosplays. I have brown skin, not too dark but not white passing either, it’s similar to Bruno’s since I’m pretty pale from not going out much. It’s always upsetting since most characters you see in media are either lighter or darker than you, you never have a character you can relate to cultural wise (I’m Mexican but I recognized many of the foods and clothing and such). And I’ve always been interested in cosplaying too but was always kind of hesitant since I’m not the “right” skin color. But I don’t feel this way about this movie. It helps me a lot.
On the topic of wondering why everyone dislike Bruno when it wasn't his fault- I think that's the point. People wanted to scapegoat and when they grew up hearing that he was the creepy guy that no one liked who caused the bad things to happen, you start to believe it. I think the whole thing was them misunderstanding him and fearing the thing they misunderstand.
I always thought that they didn’t like him because they couldn’t really take advantage of his power since he could SEE the future but not CONTROL it. I mean Luisa was overworked because they kept making her do everything they could, seriously the movie showed that they had her move a church a little in one direction, reroute a goddamn river, and when they were going to the party they didn’t even park their own donkies or put the ones that escaped back themselves. They just kept telling to do more and more and more while they can see she was already doing a lot. That was my first impression.
Honestly, I really hope this movie gets a Disney+ show because there's so much to explore. Character insecurities, rooms, those sort of things. It would be a great opportunity to dive into other character's insecurities and other stuff that maybe would've been a bit too much for one movie. Something similar to the Tangled show, or something lol
I’m not a person that cries watching movies, never really have been. Didn’t even cry when Iron Man died even though I was really sad. However I cried so much while watching this movie it was unreal. The emotions that this movie goes into beyond the magic touched something inside I guess lol. Like how when Mira’s family takes a picture together after Antonio gets his gift and she’s left out I balled like a baby during that scene because that something that I can relate to, always the one either taking the pictures or left out of pictures with friends or family. Or when Mira find Bruno and realizes that he has been watching them eat together in the kitchen and has been watching them all grow up for years and they had no idea he was there. That part definitely broke me. Tbh I watched this movie because of the tiktok hype around the Bruno song, but holy shit I was so impressed and happily surprised by it
During the song “we don’t talk about Bruno” Isabella said that Bruno told her she’d have the life of her dreams and Isabella pointed that out during the song because she HATED the life of her dreams
Nah because Dolores low key defended him in her rap like “It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling” and I think it’s because she could hear him in the walls and how he stayed even though his family shunned him because “I’m Bruno and everyone always excepts the worse” and they think he CAUSES the future rather than seeing it.
No, they do know he only sees the future but he would see both the good and the bad. And for this family everything to be perfect, they don't want to hear bad news. Bruno was a messenger he can show them that their life is harmful and destructive and can lead to a dangerous path. However they don't want to hear it, so the family associates him with bad luck and shun him. they're literally shooting the messenger.
I don't think she defended nor attacked him, she basically stated facts her whole rap. It was a burden for bruno with his gift, and the family didn't know how to deal with his gift, she's just telling Mirabel what she wants to know about bruno tbh

Bruno talking deeply and detailed about his rat tv shows: they could never be Dolores listening: 😭😭 NOOOO THEY HAVE TO BE TOGETHER. I CANT TAKE THIS I NEED THEM TOGETHERR

No one's talking about Camilo, he's so attractive and his personality is such a mood, and his voice matches him especially when he sings! He did sing in "We Don't Talk About Bruno" but I feel like there should of been more scenes with him talking, he's mostly just in the background. One of the only talking scenes with him is when the house crumbled and he was like "so we don't have a house, what is this, a house? It's a house?" Or something 🥰 Ya I'm simping for Camilo
It makes me so happy to see Isabella, a character on Disney who has the same side profile as me. My inner child felt so seen. 😭💜 to see characters that look like me and my family, it just brings tears to my eyes.
If people appreciated Bruno more, his gift would be extremely powerful. He can see the future (not fully certain sometimes though) and that would be extremely useful.
Just because some of the futures were ended bad doesn't mean his gift is bad, it's sad how people just sees the worst in him. I mean just look at the line he told Isabella, it's a good one!
@@Ririn_Sama0517 We also saw that with a small and basic effort you can learn how to change the future. follow the butterfly and you can learn the intervention needed to get a future of your choosing. If abuela had been a more competent matriarch she would have asked that and could have taken a massive load off the family by fixing problems before they got worse.
Dolores and camilo's verses I can hear over and over no problem, the rest is only if I decide to rewatch the movie(for a third time). But surface pressure is always welcome with me
Camilo and Pepa seem to have the same sort of emotional crisis which is why I think he is so good at comforting her. Camilo morphs into the people he is thinking about or into loads of different people sequentially and Pepa makes the weather go crazy when they can't regulate their emotions.
Luisa's powers were the only one that weakened because she emotionally broke, while the others were just suffering in silence at that stage. Isabela's powers got stronger because she finally started to accept herself. They are metaphors for the different ways the characters dealt with trauma. I could elaborate more on this, but I really don't feel like it, and I hope my point came across correctly with just the two sentences above.
@@hannekekooymans It was mentioned that Camilo has identity issues, so maybe due to the stress in the home, his problems exacerbated and he felt out of control, hence unable to control his gift. It's just a theory, of course. I don't want to look too into it, as that would mess with the magic of the film.
Here's the thing about Peppa: her power is to INFLUENCE WEATHER WITH HER MOOD not CONTROL IT. She has tried to CONTROL IT for her whole life because that's what Abuela told her she was supposed to do, resulting in stress and anxious thought and causing for instance the weather changes that she didn't want! We actually SAW the generational traumas in more than the two songs, or at least you can see it if you analyze it deeply. Bruno felt guilty for being the "unlucky prophet" who brought bad luck to others, Peppa was trying to control the weather by surpressing her own emotions, Camillo felt like he had to be funny imitating others, Luisa felt the pressure to always be strong and never let anything hurt her, Isabella was stricted in a perfect but more importantly FAKE version of herself to maintain a standard, Dolores always hears everything, even what she's not suppose to or things she can't understand and feels under pressure to not say the wrong thing in the wrong moment or to not reveal a secret unintentionally and, if it wasn't for Mirabel, Antonio would feel like he couldn't use his power to do nice little things like worming up seats for people (as Abuela says to him "I'm sure we'll find better ways to use your gift", and that's usually the first step to trauma, unrecognised kindness)... Maybe the only one who didn't suffer for something is Mirabel's Mother, because she's got the power to heal others through foods and never had to do anything different to accomplish Abuela's wishes, but I'm pretty sure she's got fear to not being able to cure someone and let them die... This film is much more curated than you think.
They didn't explore Mirabel's mother's gift much but I imagine her downside is that she feels the need to cook constantly because her food is supplied to everyone in town, and she's under pressure to have enough food to heal everyone.
@@gummibearfetish1 I thought that too, also being the oldest of the triplets maybe she's playing the fixer/healer of the family, she mediate between the parts when an argument comes up to bring up peace and feels like it's her own duty to keep and bring peace to all the family members!
@@gummibearfetish1 also, the pressure to cook everything WELL. Cuz while it's never established that it matters if the taste or quality of the food relates to his healing capability, I'd imagine she would still feel those pressures.
@@Sheriff_K yes, but let's remember she's a victime too. What she did was wrong and there's no excuse for it, but she was trying her best to preserve and protect her family at every cost because she lost everything in the past. First, she lost her home, saw as her own people destroyed everything she had built in a lifetime, and she was left with just some food to walk for miles and miles to escape the horrors of civil war with only the love of her children and her husband, then she lost her husband, her only and true love, remaining alone with three children to grow up and a community who looked up to her as their leader... She felt like it was her place to keep everything in place, to protect and preserve that little miracle she was given for her husband's sacrifice. To her, that's the only thing she has left in life and did whatever it takes to keep it alive, for her and her community.
Mirabel: represents the people who feel like the outcasts of the family and the people who struggle to find their purpose in the world. Could also represent the people who are constantly on the search for acceptance from others. Abuela: represents everyone who wants to protect their family, but has a hard time expressing her feelings to her family. Also the people who put strict circumstances onto others because they’re trying to protect them from something much greater than themselves. Julieta: similar to abuela but more motherly and open, also constantly worries about her children ( could also represent people who get attached and constantly feel like they have to protect and be there for them) also feel like if there was more backstory, this could lead to julieta also representing the “therapist” friends/family members (hence the constant scenes of julieta and maribel talking to each other about Mirabel) Isabela: represents the people who feel like they have to be perfect and can’t do anything for their own enjoyment or who have the pressure of marrying and having children (“he wants 5 babies”) Luisa: represents the people that struggle with holding family burdens, also feel like this could potentially lead to the people who have a hard time being bigger in stature/struggle with body image (whether that’s big boned, or struggle with weight) and just want to love themselves. Pepa: represents people who have a hard time controlling their emotions and if you notice multiple times in the movie, no one really tries to talk with her to calm her down, but instead tell her to get the clouds to leave or to get ahold of herself, which is a representation of situations where peoples emotions aren’t being considered or are being ignored. Antonio: represents people who have a hard time communicating with others. There’s also a common theme of people who have a hard time communicating ( such as people with autism or other similar conditions) being drawn to having pets so he has animal friends and can talk with them. Could also be the reason why he only really connects with Mirabel Camilo: represents people who have a hard time identifying with themselves or feel like they have to put on a different face around other people Dolores: represents people who feel like they’re constantly out of reach of something that everyone else has and also has to keep secrets about everyone from everyone. Also could represent people who ave had trauma and are quiet about it, or people that are pressured into being quiet about things Bruno: similar to Julieta theory of being the therapist but instead represents the people who give the right answers that people don’t want to hear and therefor are bullied into an outcast or are ridiculed because of it. Also could respresent the people who are just being themselves and are outcast for it. These are all just from what I’ve seen in the movie and what other people have also said. Please feel free to tell me your theories on the characters as well😊😊
I think also with Camillo it mentioned that he tried to make people smile by changing his appearance so he might be trying to put on a happy face when it reality there’s pain behind that smile
Unpopular opinion: Pepa doesn't dislike Bruno. She miss him and try to justify him being kicked out of the family by remembering what he did and blemming him for that.
The one with Pepa's wedding was not Bruno's fault at ALL. Everyone just assumed the worst of him, so its Pepa's fault that there was a hurricane. It was her gift that caused the hurricane, not Bruno's.
it wasn’t really anyone’s fault, pepa was nervous (rightfully so, since it was her wedding) & bruno just happened to tell her a joke at the wrong time. another thing to take into count is that this was a madrigal wedding, meaning that alongside the fact that she was getting married, the pressure for it to be perfect got heavier due to her family status.
@@bens0nsccp it’s hard to suppress natural emotions though so it’s no ones fault really. Especially when she’s probably thinking about how if she doesn’t suppress them bad weather will happen which makes her even more stressed.
Adding another layer to Pepa’s wedding story. From “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”: Pepa: “Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin…” Felix: “Thunderrrr…” This implies that Pepa was already agitated by Bruno’s entrance. In other words, Bruno (Pepa’s brother) stresses Pepa out or irritates her, even when he does nothing wrong. Very brother-sister. Bruno commented on the thunder, probably just trying to make conversation, not making a joke. Bruno takes the blame, Pepa later tells her family the story, and those from Pepa’s side of the family proceed to gossip about him behind his back in We Don’t Talk about Bruno. In the song, when Felix pointed out the timing of the thunder, she retaliated because her intention was to make herself out as a victim. But, to be fair, her constantly frantic mental state is brought on by Abuela’s demands that she keep calm 24/7 - a pressure she’s lived with her whole life.
And the great thing about her husband is that he can calm her down so fast. He's so charming. Plus, he enjoyed the entire day of the wedding😊 the kind of husband every wife deserves♥️
I totally agree with you, but Bruno wasn't actually commenting on the thunder. It's revealed by Bruno in the final song that he said, "it looks like rain" because he could see that Pepa was sweating (probably, as you said, as she was nervous about his entrance). He was making a joke about it lol
What I love about this movie is that the main character stands up to her elder and not in a disrespectful way but in an honest and raw way, and the personal responsible *takes responsibility* that's the Disney ending I think I won't ever get 🤧
I liked the way this movie dealt with birth order behaviors. The middle children of both families, Luisa and Camilo, both do major middle-child things with their Gifts. Luisa feels like she has to be on top of everything all the time, the strong and dependable one, just to exist and be accepted within her family. Camilo is the ultimate theater kid, constantly entertaining everyone with his chameleon Gift; every time he's in the frame, his actions shout "NOTICE ME!"
OK, I kind of agree with the Bruno doing in Pepa's wedding, but not maliciously of course. He was just being a sarcastic sibling, making a joke maybe to lighten the mood of a very stressful day. But Pepa being Pepa...well....*thunder in the distance*
On the topic of affected powers, that's why Camilo kept shifting to a baby head, and Antonio has a moment with the toucan at the end where he looks like he can't understand it and is confused/scared, but mom and Pepa and Bruno never loose or seem to have theirs affected.
Well Bruno needs some sort of set up it looks like (which raises a LOT of questions when I think about it) and mom didnt really have a scenario to prove it
About Bruno, people just didn't understand the concept of his gift. They couldn't (or thry didn't want to) undertsand that he saw the future that's why ot happened later on. So when the prophecy came true they wanted to blame someone for the bad things that happened to them and they blamed the one who warned them. The shot the messenger
I didn`t know I had more than just simpathy for Bruno. But than I saw people claiming they love him and then I realized just how HAPPY I am for him. Because there are people who loves. And God knows he DESERVES it like no one else 🤧😭😭
The part where the grandfather died with the background music got me crying but it was so good. I am still gonna watch it again with tears rolling down my face. And sing We don't talk about Bruno.
Right? I also love how when we see Abuela telling the story to little Mirabel in the opening it's actually toned down so much. She wasn't going to tell her how awful it really was, but then when she's older and Abuela opens up about it fully the scene is so much more brutal and heart wrenching. I love that storytelling so much
i friggin bawled still too on a second viewing. it's such a good song. my nephew loves the bruno song i have a feeling he will be driving us nuts with months from now small children he loves watching certain movies more than 2 times. i mean i used to have sing a longs in car with my dad as a kid like little mermaid, beauty and the beast and aladdin. one song my sis and i used to drive mom nuts with was the song that doesn't end from lambchop. in the car was best of times lol. i can't imagine having powers like dolores imagine hearing things don't want to hear and ugh what if person is noise sensitive like does she even sleep?
No because the end song of Encanto made me cry because it’s about two caterpillars being together and going through life together until they have to create cocoons and separate from each other. They then have to learn to live without one another and grow apart. It resembles Abuela‘s story on how she lost the love of her life. Honestly this story was absolutely amazing.
SPOLIER: I think a scene that is overlooked is the scene at the end where abuela is talking about where she lost her husband and the actual pain from young abuela's face and movements struck home. I have never seen something so surreal like that in a disney movie.
I saw that too, and then I realized how much loss she had to suffer, and was under the pain and pressure of not only maintaining the magic, but also to keep the traditions perfect. She didn't want to feel unworthy, or her family unworthy of their gifts and the magic be taken away.
Bruno getting the blame for his prophecies is really pretty typical for oracles. In just about any story you hear about people predicting the future it usually comes out two ways. Either they get blamed for it when the bad thing they warned about happened, or they are ignored and the bad thing they warned about happened because people didn't listen to them. So yeah, totally understandable and also totally unfair that Bruno got such a bad rap and felt like his gift was more of a curse. He would try to warn people about what he saw in their future, and all they did was get upset at him when it happened, as if he caused it. Bruno was the sweetest. As far as Pepa's part of 'We Don't Talk About Bruno', I really think we're dealing with writer's bias here. Pepa is emotional as all heck, and is constantly trying to stop storms happening around her in the movie. Yet she wants us to believe that on her wedding day she was cool as a cucumber and there were no clouds until Bruno said something? I'm gonna disbelieve that one. She claims Bruno came in with a 'mischievous grin'... Doesn't really jive with how we actually see him. More likely he saw Pepa on the verge of freaking out and tried to calm her with an awkward joke, as he said. And then Pepa did what she always does and freaked out, causing a storm. Then blamed the whole thing on Bruno. Even though as they said, despite the storm they saw it as a joyous day. And nobody in the family actually hated him. When they finally saw him again Everybody was overjoyed that he was back.
Did anyone else think that the "hey" after Camillo's verse in "We don't talk about Bruno" sounded like "pain", or was it just me? Also, I love how instead of talking about Bruno, they sing about him.
8:09 I don't think Dolores was actually creeper out by Bruno. She said she, "grew to live in fear of Bruno stumbling or stuttering," most likely meaning she was told to be wary of his predictions, because of what she says next, that the family was, "... grappling with prophesies they couldn't understand." This tells me she knew that Bruno's exile came from a misunderstanding of him and his abilities. Since she can still hear Bruno all the time in Casita's walls, she probably hears him, "muttering and mumbling," to himself about how he never wanted the things he saw to happen, or talking about how he misses being there with his family.
Honestly Camilo deserved so much more and if, no, WHEN they make a second movie I really hope he and Dolores (but mostly him he's my favorite :]) get a lot more screentime and we find out more about them
Honestly he's my favorite character! And he barely shows up. Also Its a little Wierd that Antonio is the youngest of the family but also the most mature?
Honestly, I would like a movie(or atleast small short shows) where they focus on each character, and how their life has played out until the ending of the current movie.
@@OHI3DS that's a cool idea for shorts after or in between movies, but honestly there's just too much potential for a new movie for disney not to make another
I REALLY want to see more choreos for we don't talk about bruno, so far I only found one on yt which is amazing! But I would like to see more people do it too :>
what made encanto so unique and loveable was aside from the obvious ones, they made the main character relatable. In fact they made two underdogs that there would not be a single person who’s never thought that ‘Oh why aren’t i good enough?’ Or ‘Why is everything i do not good enough’ They made characters w flaws but also they made characters like us. Times r changing and Cinderella era w pretty pink princesses r over like w saw that w coco but this movie is what i think is really going to make an impact like i no Cinderella and Snow White and sleeping beauty were early 1900’s but this is going to set a new standard and i love it.
i have a few disney films i am obsessed with and this may be one i only seen it twice so far but nephew is small still and has seen more and sure he would watch again with me. i got a Mirabel doll and some encanto books like novelization. you should see my Frozen collection
I have to say that the point of blaming Bruno being blamed by everyone is that he was just an easy scapegoat, he didn’t HAVE to do anything to be one. He stuck out due to his awkwardness and people found his gift unsettling so they blamed him for the prophecies he gave out. Its also a really common theme in stories with future-tellers for them to be blamed for their prophecies even though they didn’t cause it.
Actually, I prefer that they didn't include everything about the family all in one sitting since it could leave room for another movie. Plus it'd be so jammed pack with information thrown to the viewer if it had everything we wanted in the first movie.
Did you know that at Pepa and Felix’s wedding day, it wasn’t actually Bruno who told her that it looked like rain. It was Hernando. So stop blaming Bruno I know that it was Bruno this was meant to be a joke
6:28 THIS! i was fully expecting mirabelle to talk to every family member and was shocked to see her not, the ending also felt.. wrong? like, disney cant just give us a village being kept together by a fading candle and a magic family but SOLVE THE CONFLICT WITH A CONVERSATION?! edit: just saw somebody say this should have a tangled-style tie in show, i think that would work PERECTLY for this movie.
6:35 I brainstormed a couple ideas for possible themes from the other (magical) family members: Pepa- The Isabella to the triplets; was expected to constantly be happy for the sake of others, only being allowed to express sadness when other's needed rain. The constant repression of emotions caused her to have terrible anxiety and explosive anger. Is low-key jealous of---while also holding extreme pitty for---Isabella because with Isabella's plant magic, Pepa's powers are "no longer needed ." Julieta- Luisa of the triplets; Was at everyone's beck-and-call without a break. Rarely got a moment's break. Rarely left the kitchen as a teen/young adult because she was constantly cooking. May even low-key hate cooking now. Couldn't recount the number of times she had to eat her own cooking to fix the burns and cuts she received from rushing her cooking. Finally settled for making simple foods for others and only giving out the food on her time to save her sanity after Isabella was born. Dolores- Doesn't get much sleep at night because there is CONSTANT NOISE. Is afraid she'll miss something important (i.e., a family member being in danger) because she can't hear anything over the rest of the noise. Her bedroom has fabric, pillow, mattresses, etc., on every surface to try and cancel out some of the sounds. Camilo- Identity crisis. If he's expected to be everyone else, how can he be himself?... Does he even know who he is? Has a hard time looking at himself when he's not shapeshifted. Maybe even body dysmorphia. Dolores and Camilo would also both low-key hate their rooms. Disney confirmed the bedrooms were designed to ENHANCE one's gift---i.e., Luisa's room, which was cut from the final film, was full of exercise equipment-- so Dolores's room would be designed to enhance her hearing (maybe like a radio show echo chamber?). Camilo's room would be full of mirrors.

“When they talk about Bruno comes with a mischievous Grin” but that’s literally Hernando

yo jorge got less screen time my guy jorge bucket head
@@tando2484 Jorge needed the whole movie like✨Jorge and spackle adventures✨
Nah because Dolores low key defended him in her rap like “It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling” and I think it’s because she could hear him in the walls and how he stayed even though his family shunned him because “I’m Bruno and everyone always excepts the worse” and they think he CAUSES the future rather than seeing it.
she also says “I can hear him now” and during her part of the song, you literally see Bruno jamming along in the background.
Yea but she said “Always left Abuela and the family fumbling.”
Hey if she just defended him why she switched her sides?🤔
and she was older when he “left” so she probably understood. If i’m not wrong she was 11-12?
I don't think she defended nor attacked him, she basically stated facts her whole rap. It was a burden for bruno with his gift, and the family didn't know how to deal with his gift, she's just telling Mirabel what she wants to know about bruno tbh

If people appreciated Bruno more, his gift would be extremely powerful. He can see the future (not fully certain sometimes though) and that would be extremely useful.
Exactally! Now he's lready 50 and the family waisted a lifetime of that.
Just because some of the futures were ended bad doesn't mean his gift is bad, it's sad how people just sees the worst in him. I mean just look at the line he told Isabella, it's a good one!

But Camilo’s powers weakened too right? He couldn’t transform well anymore (large body with a small baby face etc.)
Indeed, Abuela really did SERIOUS damage to the entire family's mentality..

Buzz be like: PUT ME DOWN BEFORE I CALL THE GALACTIC ALLIANCE-
Mirabel: represents the people who feel like the outcasts of the family and the people who struggle to find their purpose in the world. Could also represent the people who are constantly on the search for acceptance from others.
Abuela: represents everyone who wants to protect their family, but has a hard time expressing her feelings to her family. Also the people who put strict circumstances onto others because they’re trying to protect them from something much greater than themselves.
Julieta: similar to abuela but more motherly and open, also constantly worries about her children ( could also represent people who get attached and constantly feel like they have to protect and be there for them) also feel like if there was more backstory, this could lead to julieta also representing the “therapist” friends/family members (hence the constant scenes of julieta and maribel talking to each other about Mirabel)
Isabela: represents the people who feel like they have to be perfect and can’t do anything for their own enjoyment or who have the pressure of marrying and having children (“he wants 5 babies”)
Luisa: represents the people that struggle with holding family burdens, also feel like this could potentially lead to the people who have a hard time being bigger in stature/struggle with body image (whether that’s big boned, or struggle with weight) and just want to love themselves.
Could also be the reason why he only really connects with Mirabel
Camilo: represents people who have a hard time identifying with themselves or feel like they have to put on a different face around other people
Dolores: represents people who feel like they’re constantly out of reach of something that everyone else has and also has to keep secrets about everyone from everyone. Also could represent people who ave had trauma and are quiet about it, or people that are pressured into being quiet about things
Bruno: similar to Julieta theory of being the therapist but instead represents the people who give the right answers that people don’t want to hear and therefor are bullied into an outcast or are ridiculed because of it. Also could respresent the people who are just being themselves and are outcast for it.
These are all just from what I’ve seen in the movie and what other people have also said. Please feel free to tell me your theories on the characters as well😊😊

Exactly!
it wasn’t really anyone’s fault, pepa was nervous (rightfully so, since it was her wedding) & bruno just happened to tell her a joke at the wrong time. another thing to take into count is that this was a madrigal wedding, meaning that alongside the fact that she was getting married, the pressure for it to be perfect got heavier due to her family status.
@@gorsens I see your point, but if Pepa didn't take it the wrong way, there would have been no hurricane at her wedding. So Pepa is at fault here.
@@bens0nsccp it’s hard to suppress natural emotions though so it’s no ones fault really. Especially when she’s probably thinking about how if she doesn’t suppress them bad weather will happen which makes her even more stressed.
@@bens0nsccp kinda sounding like abuela rn ngl
Adding another layer to Pepa’s wedding story. From “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”:
Pepa: “Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin…”
Felix: “Thunderrrr…”
This implies that Pepa was already agitated by Bruno’s entrance.
Also, superstition-wise, rain on a wedding day is good luck lol he was probably trying to make it sound like a good thing
I totally agree with you, but Bruno wasn't actually commenting on the thunder. It's revealed by Bruno in the final song that he said, "it looks like rain" because he could see that Pepa was sweating (probably, as you said, as she was nervous about his entrance). He was making a joke about it lol
Not to mention his joke about it raining, isn't really prophetic because given her stress it likely would have rained even if he didn't do anything.
He said, “it looks like rain.” And Pepa said “doing so he floods my brain.” So I know your right and then at the end she tried to be nice to Bruno.
I love the Luisa’s cosplays it’s so beautiful to see her portrayed irl
Felix melody is my favorite part... Plus, his characters love for his wife... Awesome.
The “We don’t talk about Bruno in any language” one just sounds like one whole language

Right? I also love how when we see Abuela telling the story to little Mirabel in the opening it's actually toned down so much. She wasn't going to tell her how awful it really was, but then when she's older and Abuela opens up about it fully the scene is so much more brutal and heart wrenching. I love that storytelling so much

SPOLIER: I think a scene that is overlooked is the scene at the end where abuela is talking about where she lost her husband and the actual pain from young abuela's face and movements struck home. I have never seen something so surreal like that in a disney movie.
That really stuck out to me too. It was powerful.

I don't think Dolores was actually creeper out by Bruno.

You know it's a good movie when you have to dig into the deepest hole (don't even) to find a negative feature.
Honestly, the problem with Antonio’s power is that if someone kills a roach,or eats animal,he is going to burst out in tears.
Actually, I prefer that they didn't include everything about the family all in one sitting since it could leave room for another movie.

Bruno's design and overall character is basically Sirius Black as a Disney character
i love encanto!!!!!!!!!!
6:35 I brainstormed a couple ideas for possible themes from the other (magical) family members:
Pepa- The Isabella to the triplets; was expected to constantly be happy for the sake of others, only being allowed to express sadness when other's needed rain. The constant repression of emotions caused her to have terrible anxiety and explosive anger. Is low-key jealous of---while also holding extreme pitty for---Isabella because with Isabella's plant magic, Pepa's powers are "no longer needed ."
Julieta- Luisa of the triplets; Was at everyone's beck-and-call without a break.
