Chancellor should be a Rear Admiral rank.
I fell in love with Holly's caracter in "ALWAYS". Always look forward to any project she is in.
Fun fact: Holly Hunter shot first at Han Solo.
Discuss.
You didn't mention Saving Grace. Great series and she was terrific!!
The Starfleet Academy idea has been around for over 30 years and none of us have been clamoring for it.
A Star Trek anthology-type thing would work.
This is great news! I had no idea! Holly Hunter: ❤❤❤❤ When? When? When??!
I love JJ Abrams Star Trek - the opening 30 minutes of Star Trek (2007) is practically my all time favorite scene.
I love Enterprise and Scott Bacula
I don't like Kurtzman
I don't like Discovery
TOS: Love
Next Gen: Love
Strange New Worlds: Love Hate - I've watched the best episodes ever and the worst cringe episodes.
Orville: Love
So there! Take that! Hahaha!
This is my first video of yours that I've seen. You made a hell of an impression! lol.
I too love Holly Hunter. She has lots of range and can be funny/silly (dry funny) but also has the gravitas to be a Captain. From Kate Mulgrew and Avery Brooks to classics, Stewart and Shatner, Captains have needed an air of confidence, power and control. For as much as I like The Orville, Seth doesn't make a good Captain. He delivers his lines with all the weight and seriousness of a waiter in a kids restaurant.
As far as P+, Kurtzman, you're spot on. Nothing since Enterprise is cannon. I don't care, it simply isn't. On behalf of the fans, we reject it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, buying a Botticelli does not make you Botticelli or even Picasso. These monsters currently in custody are simply abusing the IP for the time being. That fan made Axanar is more legit than Michael, the weird Klingons or the dystopian future of limitless abundance. Where people have replicators but steal. Where education and eloquence and meaningful communication which reigned have been replaced with swearing and grit.
What's funny is that, there are breakaway factions in the Trek Universe. But rather than create that slice of reality, they push to taint what we had. If you want Firefly, remake Firefly. If you can't/won't, at least make your own group like the Maquis. Or something completely new. These people can't add to the firmament but tear it down to rebuild in their inferior, Mode Du Jour.
TLDR: What you said. I'll watch, at least a little. I'll probably hate it because I hate the showrunner.
Loved Holly in The Piano
Could Holly play the highly anticipated Role of Nine of Nine ?
You mean the 2 of 44 character?
As long as Mary Wiseman is coming back as Tilly, I have hope for the show. She was the best character on Discovery and the main reason the series was even watchable. Since the end of Discovery established that the character goes on to become the longest tenured instructor at Starfleet Academy, leaving her out would be a grievous injustice to both the character and the series. I would still check it out because of my love for the Star Trek franchise, but I would have VERY low expectations of it without her.
The show nobody asked for.
I'm a long time Trekkie, but there really hasn't been anything good in the Trek universe since the end of Enterprise in the mid 2000's, and even that was rough. Strange New Worlds has it's moments, but the second season was a mess of ideas (half of which REALLY didn't land), and don't get me started on the dumpster fire that was Picard (3rd season was too little too late, honestly, even as good as it was) and the absolute atrocity that is Discovery (the quicker we can put that behind us the better). There is very little evidence any new Trek venture will be any different (look at all the people involved). Even IF Terry Matalas is involved, it's no guaranty he will be able to get HIS vision to screen. There are too many Goldsman's, Kurtzman's, Abram's, etc... etc... etc... in the way (ALL 3 of which have little to NO history watching the Trek franchise). Until we get REAL Trek fans (Matalas does seem like one, for sure) leading the charge, this franchise will continue to spin it's wheels in the mire of mediocrity.
I agree, I've been watching random clips from Enterprise on here and I can't help but wonder, what the hell went wrong after that?
As you said, Picard S1 and 2 were awful, Season 3, whilst yes it was better, was not only too late, but mostly a nostalgia trip for those who'd watched TNG.
There were a lot of things about S3 which to me just made no sense at all, prime example being, how the hell did the Borg queen get all the way to earth and park a huge cube in Jupiters cloud cover and no one notices?
I mean, hello? Jupiter has not only ship yards in orbit but at least one starbase!
It's just a waste of good acting talent, the story lines were shit, the only redeeming qualities about S2 and S3, were the appearances of the old cast and John Delancie as Q, of course.
As far as Discovery goes.....lol, well, how that show has any appeal to anyone is beyond me, it's all about emotions and interpersonal drama, it's about as far from Trek as possible in my opinion.
The last season which I'm pushing myself to watch is a culmination of all the emotional BS from the previous seasons, all rolled into one.
It's a shame they will never give Enterprise another season or two, I would've loved to have seen the Romulan war.
I also agree with you about Strange new worlds, season 1 I thought was brilliant, but season 2 is a real mixed bag, no way near as enjoyable
I tried to like the musical episode, but couldn't, it was just too stupid
I also tried lower decks, I really hated the over the topness in the first two episodes, so stopped watching, but I Gave it a go a year later and now I love it lol
It takes a few episodes to draw you in, but it's bloody good fun.
I'm not a trekkie at all but totally agree with you. Little to no hope of any improvement. Just more quadrupled down woke atrocities. The next series prediction Starship Enterpride NCC 69X69
@@davidr3857 Haha, or USS I'mCryingAgain.
They just cast paul giamati as the main villain.
I seen on UA-cam that show is on and off... I hope it happens
WERK!
I love Holly Hunter. But I hate everything about Star Trek ever since the Jar Jar Abrams movies. The last show I accept as legit Trek is "Enterprise". I said what I said.
Is the series retelling the game of the same name, or are they just abusing an existing name to yet again push their own "original" content with a thin veiling of a known name to snare fans?
That being said, I don't really remember the story of the game anymore, so I would have to replay it. The gameplay was nice though.
I do remember the story of Klingon Academy however, which improved on it's predecessor in pretty much every way. I wish they'd bring that to steam too, like they did with Star Fleet Academy... Klingon Academy makes you feel like a DJ with the five (I think) disks it comes on, due to the (for the time) high-res real-filmed cutscenes with actual actors.
It also slots really well into the TNG movie era and works well as a prequel to Undiscovered Country.
I hate to say it but they could cast the whole show with A list Actors and Actresses and I STILL wouldn't be interested in ST Academy
I'll wait & watch it some before making any judgements.
Let me guess. She is going to be a lesbian in charge.
If so I will boycott it
Used to like HH. But like several women linked to the Coen Bros (great directors) they have gone woke-i-tee woke HH is a bit cringe now. Marge from Fargo too. Good character actress but loopey these days.
The problem with Star Trek is they are no longer making anything close to the original series. Holly Hunter is fine. Heck, even Helen Hunt woulda been hot ;-) I’m tired of the ‘strong female lead’ especially in interstellar conflicts that decide the fate of mankind.
Another star trek not going for strange new worlds? I wish they would get back to the original idea of exploration and finding new planets and people. It sounds like another political and lower decks type show.
does any fan know anyone who asked for star trek 90210. honestly if there is people out there that want to see this then they would actually be a small amount. i can see this acadamy series being canceled after a season or 2 due to low ratings because no one will bother to watch it. I know i will not be watching and i have watched every starterk series and movie but this new piece of garbage i will not watch.
That show actually happened: it was called Enterprise. The show didn't use Star Trek in its title.
Next!
Just another Star Trek re-tread. The Captain Pike series was supposed to be fantastic too. Until the dynamic, daring Captain Kirk style lead comes along, Star Trek will continue to be boring!
I'd rather see a Star Trek show pull back the curtain on how the future Socialism/Communist society actually works. (And all the horrors that will entail)
