I'm black man and an avid cruiser from South Florida. I’ve sailed on both (9 Carnival and 5 Royal). This is not mentioning NCL, Princess, etc. And respectfully bro, it all boils down to what kind of experience you’re aiming for. If you want a more partyish and jumpin experience… then it’s Carnival. If you want more variety and diversity… then it’s Royal. Comedy, Clubbing, Live R&B bands, and more urban environment = Carnival. Karaoke, Food/eating venues, show type options, more mixed crowd = Royal. Both offer great family and kids options. Cabins are slightly larger on Carnival, but nicer on Royal. Carnival has more ports, but Royal has better ships (and no… Excel class carnival ships are still not on the same level as Oasis class for Royal). Carnival is mostly (not all) Caribbean destinations, and Royal is more worldwide. Carnival is less expensive, but service is not as good as Royal. Royal has better Wi-Fi. Carnival is better at themed nights (all white, dress up, 80s, etc.). Royal shuts down it’s venues a little earlier than Carnival but offers a more romantic and played back mood. Carnival draws on a younger crowd 30s average vs royal more 35s/40s. So it depends on what you expect to experience. Both lines also depend on the length of the cruise. 3day cruises draw the most noise, craziness and hood activity from guest. 7day cruises are more laid back and deeper in food and entertainment options. Regardless of which you choose… both are good.
You don't know what you're talking about as far as destinations. Royal has one Mass market brand it uses around the world. Not only have we taken Carnival to Japan, but we've also picked up Carnival in Australia And if I want to hop on the same class of ship as Mardi gras I can go on Iona, Smeralda. Carnival has NINE NEW XL ships and 11 on the way Americans are ignorant about the global industry. If you didn't already know that Carnival has nine brand new Excel class ships category that proves my point
Royals service is mediocre and the crew acts like their slaves. They barely even speak. On carnival the crew greets you nonstop and everybody who can know your name uses your name Not true on Royal where crew all act like they don't want to be there
@TravelYesOuiSi perhaps that's been your experience. But I've been on many Royal, Carnival, Norwegian, and Princess Cruises. Royal has never given me mediocre service, or barely speak. To me both offer great service and are no different. Now if you haven't been on many Royal cruises... then maybe you should try another one and compare again.
@TravelYesOuiSi This is your second time sending me a message. If you don’t agree then no problem period since you’re the guru at this… Then so be it. Obviously I like both cruise lines, but I’m referring to carnival having more destinations in the caribbean then royal. That’s just a fact. Royal has more across the world than carnival does if you're talking about the actual brand and not the subsidies. Either way it’s obvious you are pro carnival and don’t like royal. That’s fine. I’m not going to keep debating about this and you can go ahead and continue with carnival as you prefer.
@Jlyfe1969 We are Pinnacle on Royal. Diamond on Carnival. I will leave capping to others. Carnival is the biggest by far. Nothing to get emotional about. We don't cap..we cruise When you reach our level let me know You are confused about social media and you're confused about the fact that this isn't even your page
You have to listen to exactly what I said. Carnival has 3 boats that put ANY and EVERY Royal ships to shame. Not according to size of course because that’s meaningless. According to the overall experience!
The real issue people have with Carnival is that it’s more accessible to black folks and POCs🤷🏿♂️ there I said it…I’ve been on both and CARNIVAL is better
From reading the reviews on several channels, I’m seeing it’s a pattern between ppls vibes overall. If you like more chill settings -Royal, if you like more of a party atmosphere -Carnival, if you want more variety of food spots -Carnival, if you want to see more glitz & glam -Royal, If you are a fun person -Carnival, If you want more worldly travel ports -Royal Also if you want to avoid more chaos on board just book a longer cruise with either 6-7 days is fine
Carnival is for sure better. But I wouldn't say that is the reason people don't like Carnival necessarily. It depends on the person if that is how they truly feel or not. Most people have just believed the propaganda. Kinda how A LOT of suburban residents genuinely believe that if they go into the nearest big city after the sun goes down, they WILL be shot for sure.
I do not know what happened to my comment..... but I sail on both...and RC is much better to me! (I have actually sailed on 6 different lines) Better ships and more variety of entertainment! And Carnivals clientele is usually on another level, that is the nicest way for me to put it! 🤣
I agree. Every since The Excel class for Carnival Came out in 2021 There has been non stop comparisons between Excel class ship and Oasis/Quantum class ships. Carnival created something special in Excel class. There is nothing like it in any other Carnival ships. When Royal did it back on 2012 with Oasis of the Sea the world took notice and nobody hated. Why can't Royal lovers/loyalist except Carnival has done the same thing. Let us shine and stop hating.
Yes! Exactly! I believe with ALL my heart, that if Royal loyalists, tried the Mardi Gras, Celebration or the Jubilee, they’d be in love. And they would question their loyalty!
I've had several cruises on both and I would be happy on either cruise line. They are different but equivalent in the experience IMO. I usually take 4 day or 7 day cruises. I avoid the 3 day Weekend Cruises on either because sometimes there's a lot of Party People who can't, or don't drink alcohol responsibly. Not Judging, just observing.
The bigger shows r better on royals newer ships icon in there buffets have lobster tails crabs crab legs clams oysters different varieties of fish the food is way better on the newer royal ships plus icon has a Ferris wheel 2 steps from the ice cream machine
The food on Royal is great. The food on Carnival’s big 3 ships is better. Plain and simple. Things like the Ferris wheel and some of the other attractions are just them compensating for their lack.
First off, who is ‘Nico’ Secondly, be honest, you are NOT speaking from experience. Which makes your entire argument false. lol Lastly, Carnival is better. Simple as that!
@nikoforthepeople nico, Niko, Rico whatever..I guarantee I speak from more cruising experience than you. How do I know...CAUSE YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY CARNIVAL IS BETTER THAN ROYAL!!! but I guess you gotta speak about your tax bracket...COOKED!!
@@4daloveofcruising Just Niko. Simple lol You may have more cruising experience than I do. I'm not referring to overall cruising experience. Royal has better food but carnival knows how to have fun.
I much preferred the food on Carnival. JS!
@@HowardT1879 Royal food is pretty lousy TBH.

Did you sail on a new Carnival Ship? If not, your comment is largely irrelevant because I'm only referring to those sailings. Which I stated.
