I’ve just come across your videos and they’re very therapeutic! I’m new to Hastings and would like to get out there fishing this year. Did you find high tide was the best for mackerel? Thanks!
welcome to hastings, let me know if you need any help with equiptment most important advice I can give is that mackerel love clear calm water so you need to wait for a few days of calm wind before the water is good enough for mackerel to come in close and feed - a single day of 15mph winds is enough to cloud up the water again so it can get frustrating waiting for the right weather I don't think tide is very important but fishing a high tide at sunrise or sunset in august / september is the best rockanore seems to be the best spot but I haven't explored many other marks in hastings, I reckon the beaches east to the pier might be good at high tide and much quieter too wheras rockanore gets crowded with anglers
@@weaverflytyer thanks for the reply! Yeah I’ve fished for mackerel in my early teens but always on feathers not lures so wanted to ask for your advice on stage of tide to see if you found a difference. I have some decent lures I bought last year for both mackerel and bass to try my luck for this summer. I fished Rockanore using a black minnow last year but on a low tide walking over the rocks hoping for a bass, had one good take but nothing landed. Maybe I’ll see you out on the beach at some point this summer! Good luck!
@@JoshLucas247 to be honest the black minnow is a fantastic lure and can easily be the only lure you ever use, it will catch everything that chases fish and works brilliantly in all water depths even shallow sand - shame they are so expensive those rocks under the cliffs are a good spot I see a massive number of bass fishermen over there, never been myself personally as I am not too good on my feet and can't clamber over the rocks very well earliest i ever caught lure bass around here was in may, so there's no need to wait until summer if targeting bass
I hope you say "God save the queen" everytime you bonk one of them on the head. Oh and look into the Yo-Zuri 3D inshore twitchbait. Speckled trout go nuts for that thing when they are feeding shallow, and it is about the same size as the lures you are using.
thank you very much! This was right at sunrise so about 6am and back home gutting them at 8am I use 15lb j-braid x8, have not had any problems using it for seabass, attached using a double looped uni knot to a swivel which connects to the leader (15lb fluorocarbon) and the snap is a breakaway mini clip
your videos are much better than others who only really care about the gear. you keep it simple.
Those mackeril just love Ryuki lure !
Bare hooks work too.

Nice video. You should put a link to your gear in the description. What rod is that?
Thanks! It's a daiwa lexa rated 5-25g
Where are you fishing in the UK?
hey, what rod do you use ? it would be good if you could make video about your gear :)
I can't remember exactly, it's a diawa,... 5-25 grams, can cast pretty well.
