Bro, those were some really cool facts on Silver. I loved the fact that Silver was supposed to have a spinoff series. That honestly would have been cool to see.
I am glad some people realize Silver was used pretty well in 06, he's such a joke in the other games or a dumbass like in the rivals games and people say that somehow he was dumb in this game when he had no other choice but to trust Mephiles, Either way that or fighting Iblis until he'd die of old age.

Although Silver isn't one of my favorite characters in the series, I think he has a lot of potential for him to do a stand alone game.
Also, this might be a little bit out topic but Silver is my mother's favorite Sonic character, I remember the very first time that she saw Silver she told me and my brother that he looked "Handsome" and on mothers day me and my brother gave her a little Silver keychain, and since then she has been carrying that Silver keychain that we gave her.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who loves Silver the most.
I love how they really were like: He's the Trunks of the sonic universe.
Which is probably why both of them are my favorite Characters from thier specific franchise.
I've already heard that Silver with his telekinesis powers was supposed to be a character able to manipulate physics following the steps of Gordon Freeman from HL2 and Nick Skryer from Psy-Ops. But didn't know that there was an actual FPS game that served as a basis for him.
We need more Silver content in the world.

Since "It's no use!" is "Mudada!" in the Japanese version of 06, Jotaro saying Muda is a thing.

I really like silver he’s my favorite character in the series and imo is pretty underrated I mean in the comics he’s been treated very well even getting his own spin off in the Archie days. I wish certain things from silvers concept designs and origin transferred over to the final like his powers coming from the emeralds and his quills being slicked back and spiking up when using his powers. I hope in future games silver comes back as a playable character especially since he’s gotten a rise in popularity and the hate for Hume has died down a bit.
Honestly I think silver has the coolest design out of the other hedgehog's. I always loved his gloves and spikes, I even remember the first time I saw his design, I just thought: wow! I love him 😌
Favorite Sonic character right here. I am so sad they didn't do more with him, but at least they gave him some spotlight in the comics.
Always makes me happy to find videos like this giving Silver justice, cause yeah, out of all the Sonic characters, he has been treated the most unfairly, and didn't really deserve it.
At least now, Sega/Sonic Team are starting to realize that people DO love this character, since he's been getting included more recently.
This was so cool! Funny thing, my youngest brother just turned 7 and for his birthday I bought him the Jakks Pacific toy of Silver. He totally loves it.
It’s so unfortunate that SEGA had to cancel that awesome concept of an FPS game, can’t imagine why. I still haven’t played Sonic 06, but my other brother recently dowloaded P-06 which I didn’t even know about until today, LOL.
Sliver’s design history is probably the thing I find most interesting about him. He actually breaks the conventions of Sonic character design in that unlike the other male hedgehogs, who have 6 bundles of spines, Silver has 2 large ones on the back of his head and the “weed leaf” on his forehead. Which reminds me, maybe I should do a video about those design conventions.

I thought it would be interesting to add. At 9:27 his ring cuff things opening and closing actually happens in '06. They open when Silver uses his powers although I think we rarely see them closed, at 16:57 you actually show a cutscene that shows them closed. I kinda learned about that a few days ago on Twitter. I guess they thought of that even when designing the character.
15 years later and there's still so much interesting things about 06's development I never knew about!

Silver is such a amazing character
Silver is the only Twink rep in media to get it right.
I know Trunks gets thrown alot for Silver, but I do also feel there's a bit of Kyle Reese in there from Terminator, being sent through to time to save the future. Especially when Silver is admiring the beautiful present compared to his ruined future, when put against a deleted scene from the original Terminator movie.
Also it would be cool to see Silver playable again, or just any of Sonic's friends playable again in a mainline game, given it has been 15 years since 06 came out. Plus I do believe we've more than exhausted things from both a gameplay and narrative stance, where Sonic is the only person who can do anything. It's like going to a friends house who has a selection of toys, but they only let play with the one action figure and refuse to share the other with you, despite the fact they did before.

High hopes for Silver to appear in Sonic Frontiers. Obviously, I want him playable, but it will be nice to at least see him participating in some of the action like he did in Sonic Forces.
Very interesting that the idea of Silver's gameplay (Kind of) originated in another Sega game. Makes me think if Silver (or Venice) would of been any different if Fifth Phantom Saga was released or not, or if he would of been a completely different character at first.

Due to Sonic '06 being a game that literally reboots itself, with even an attempt to explain how Blaze ends up in Rush with her being sent to another dimension, I imagine Sonic Awakening might have had a similar premise, but with Silver: rebooting him and refusing him as a rival to the blue blur, but in a different scenario. Since that was scrapped, Silver now seems to be stuck as "the guy with the messed up future".
Also, regarding his initial backstory, while I would have preferred his powers having a connection to the Emeralds 8which would also tie in better with his affinity to Chaos Power just like Sonic and Shadow), the rest would have been pretty much unacceptable: if Silver is regarded as a Future Trunks ripoff now, just imagine the public's reaction if he had an even more similar role and personality like in that draft.
Awesome, very interesting video, I only knew a little bit when it came to Sliver, did not know he has such a deep history.
Sliver is one of my favorite characters next to Shadow, I really want his character to shine in his own game or the current ones.
Plus a lot of the cast can have their own spinoff games, especially Sliver, it's just that Sega needs to improve on that side of things.
Imagine a world where we have Mighty The Armadillo, Terios The Hedgehog and Venice The Mink.

I agree! Although IDW seems to treat him pretty well, he’s underutilized and often forgotten in most other Sonic games and shows. He deserves another chance.

Great video Eldarin! I think the idea you mentioned at 9:56 would've great to see with that concept design. I actually like how his quills look slicked back, and think it could've looked awesome seeing them stand up when he uses his powers. Sonic Prime should totally visit that concept with a version of Silver.

Yeah Silver really has been underutilized as of late. However izuka stated back in 2018 SXSW that Silver has a lot of fans in many countries and would love to do something for him in the future.
Along with a recent interview when someone asked Izuka that if there's any plans for a spinoff game for characters, he stated that he would personally love to do spinoffs but is too busy with Sonic atm.
Silver used to be my most hated Sonic character because when I was a little kid, I'd drew and created my own Sonic FC around 2005 his name was Storm the Hedgehog... His design looked similar to Silver, so as a dumb little kid I've assumed Sega stole my design for Silver.
Despite the fact that I'd never shown him off to anyone but myself.

I think Silver has tons of missed potential, him in 06 was bassically just Knuckles but worse. His fight in Generations was the closest we got to something cool being done with him. I'd love to see a story that gives him justice.

I miss the 3 hedgehogs dynamic but nowadays they made silver a beta male, sonic super unattractive, and shadow "perfect" because everyone loves him more then the main freaking character.

Silver’s story is my favorite out of the three hedgehogs in Sonic 06 I love his cool design, his ability to attack enemies with his psychokinesis abilities, his kind nature helping others in need and his friendship with my favorite female character Blaze the Cat and Pete Capella is my favorite voice actor for the character and his Super Form is really awesome too thanks for sharing this great video looking at the development of my favorite futuristic hedgehog 👍🤍🦔

I had to work on a redesign for him which took me months.
I thought that he needed to do what hedgehogs normally do (especially spinball).
I had to work on his shoes, face and spines.
Man, it was no easy work but it's all use.
i really like silvers concept art, its just got this floofyness/frillyness to it lmao. plus the fact he was inspired by DBZ is like,,,, i mean i dont know what i expected, i love it.

Holy shit, I remember a fanfic I read some time ago used Venice as the name for an Anti-Silver. Now I know where that came from XD I wonder if some of the unused concepts for Sonic: Awakening were used for the Rivals games?
Imagine a timeline where Sega did do a sequel to '06, and the characters got back their memories of the previous game, including Silver and Blaze. Instead both goth pushed to the background and Silver only really got to thrive in the comics :(
