Great video & this is absolutely true. At 45 I was overweight & was diagnosed with heart disease, type 2 diabetes & hypertension. I was very ill, on a cocktail of medication & had given up on life. But at 46, I decided I didn't want to be like this anymore, so I went 100% plant based & started to exercise. Within a year I had lost 6 stone, reversed ALL my health problems & was able to come off my medication. I'm now 52, slim, toned & the fittest I've ever been, I regularly enjoying yoga, gym, running & I'm a keen mountain biker. People say I look younger than I did 15 years ago & I'm seeing a lovely guy who's twenty years younger than me. So I definitely believe with a positive attitude, getting older can be some of the best years of your life :)

Lovely video. I am so on board with this, lovely to have it affirmed, I let the positive outlook slip from time to time and fall into old habits of a negative narrative, not today though! Life begins here. Thanks James

I'll give you this James, that was brilliant. I turned 50 last year, lost 2 jobs and felt horrible. I've started running again, completed my first duathlon in 5 years with my 17 yr old daughter. I do have a young outlook on life - some people call me an immature tw-t but that's as I run past them in sketchers. I see friends on socials visiting national trusts whilst I'm grinding up hills and vomitting after TTs. I know where I'd rather be. I'm finding growing old horrible, especially as my kids grow up and away but I'm trying. Thanks for videos like this, the time and the research is fascinating.

Thanks mate - yep - there’s a bit of stereotype about what you should do in so many circumstances - and being here for a few years is no exception. We do visit National trust places though… but usually wearing a pair of Chucks… :-)

I'm one of those women who people are shocked to find out my age (currently 52). I laugh about lack of make up, soap skin routine and lack of foreign holidays. I don't drink or smoke, am vegetarian, but do have weight and mental health issues (medicated for 12 years side effects are weight gain, heart disease and diabetes - all clear so far). I am not old but some physical injuries have made me step out of sports I loved.
I'm back at the restoration phase, but not as bad as it could be and I have useful skills and knowledge.
Your important point is resonating, I can make a difference. And not become old.

Jesus will keep you young at heart. Yes it's good to push yourself responsibly, mind, body, soul and spirit but ultimately the person must ask the question where am I heading to?
The greatest freedom is to be free of the worrier self. Jesus has taken that old worry self and crucified it, and replaced with a new creation. Yet there is also a promise in Psalm 103. He renews my youth like the eagle. 😉
Best of both worlds. 🙌 All praise goes to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

@@daviocampi6951 I think that you misunderstand me. I was agreeing that life is what you make it and that although we all age that is no barrier to be continuously improving our lives and ourselves. I do not see my advancing years as a hindrance to my enjoyment of life. Quite the opposite. I have more scope for leisure and things that I enjoy.
The main reason that I am keen to make the most of my life is that I am an atheist. I know that when I am dead it is all over, so there is no time to be just treading water. To this end I seize every opportunity I get to live my life to the full, but thank k u you for your kind words.

      Bob McGowan.

      @@BobMcGowan-NotTheChairCircle Dear Bob,
You have chosen to be an atheist yet it doesn't mean that your choice is true.
I have been following Christ for 37 years and know that what He says is true after testing. The proof is in the pudding you have to taste it to see how good it is.
If it isn't true than even Saint Paul writing to the Corinthian church which he set up said: "If there is no resurrection than Christians are the most pitiful of people."
      1 Corinthians 15:13-19.
"Now if the rising of Christ from the dead is the very heart of our message, how can some of you deny that there is any resurrection? For if there is no such thing as the resurrection of the dead, then Christ was never raised. And if Christ was not raised then neither our preaching nor your faith has any meaning at all. Further it would mean that we are lying in our witness for God, for we have given our solemn testimony that he did raise up Christ-and that is utterly false if it should be true that the dead do not, in fact, rise again! For if the dead do not rise neither did Christ rise, and if Christ did not rise your faith is futile and your sins have never been forgiven. Moreover those who have died believing in Christ are utterly dead and gone. Truly, if our hope in Christ were limited to this life only we should, of all mankind be the most to be pitied!"
Christ has endured this long because He is true to His Word- the holy bible testifies.

You are supposing that I am taking this standpoint from a place of ignorance. I am not. I have read the Bible, cover to cover - from 'In the beginning' to 'Amen" - very carefully and I have also attended christian churches of differing denominations over several years. If it is a matter of faith then we are both right. My faith in the non-existence of supernatural beings is total. Logic would dictate, however, that one of us must be wrong.
Thank you again for your kind interest.
      Sincerely,
      Bob McGowan.

That Confucius saying is an absolute banger, I mustn't forget that in my woe is me old age (joking). 'Hip replacement' - top drawer 👏. My inspiration regarding the topic in the vid, easy, my mum. Now in her mid 80s she has always been almost unaware of her age, badminton classes in her 70s, wanting to help me in the studio even now. Only that evil bugger Alzheimers has slowed her a little. NEVER, ever say 'I can't, I'm too old' - of all saying this boilers my you know what the most. Keep up the good work, it's important. Cheers

The "mind your thoughts" is amazing! My wind wonders when I run (part of why I enjoy it - mentally sorting things in my head) but if I find negativity creating in, I notice now, stop it, and focus on something positive around me and the thought is gone 😊 (right...now to do that ftp test I've been putting off 😂)

Great upload. I am 63, one habit I have picked up. To stop making silly noises when I bend my knees etc, I breathe only through my nose. Ps, I also don’t touch alcohol. Why would I knowingly put poison in my body. Great upload, I’m hooked.

I can only agree about alcohol 563 days after managing to stop (who’s counting..?!) - but I can also very much see it from the other side in regard to habits and addictive behaviours - only too well. You’re a great example to us all - no silly noises, eh! Love it, man!
