He is criminally underrated. I’m With You, I’m Beside You and The Getaway have a lot of incredible songs, I really cherish a ton of their content during those years. I think being relatively young allows me to look objectively at their work with Josh Klinghoffer, I understand a lot of fans are biased towards John Frusciante, for obvious reasons. But if you look past that, the JK era was a period of a lot of growth and musical maturity from all of them, Anthony’s best vocals are there, and I’m With You is an extremely versatile album. I do wish him the best.

@@jaredmarshall9439 That’s really subjective. One thing is how technical a guitar player is, but another thing is who is better in anyone’s concept. John shares a common language with Flea, Anthony and Chad; he joined the band at 18, naturally he is a better match for the band, but Josh definitely gives him a run for his money, he never tried to mimic JF, he was always true to his own style and that made for a nice transition to the band, they explored different styles and genres and that’s always a plus.

I'm under the impression that John found his own replacement and probably had a verbal agreement about what would happen in the event of his return. Because of this I don't really see it as Josh being "tossed out like trash" and I would be willing to bet that Josh himself doesn't think that either. So once John decides that he's had enough (again) I'm betting the band will be no more. They'll call it a day. I mean, he made it into the greatest rock band to come out of the last few decades- a band that will definitely leave its legacy behind in decades to come. The band still rockin' on is awesome, but this is a sad situation. I hope Josh moves onward~ & finds happiness entering a new door that will definitely open for him.

Josh seems like a nice guy, really. Favourite songs with him: The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie, Monarchy of Roses, Dark Necessities and The Hunter. Thanks for that! First, I didn't accept him too much, but now that he's gone, I realize how much I had a bond with this new sound he brought to the band, actually.

Very bittersweet. I hope Josh goes on to have great critical and commercial success. And I hope RHCP puts out magic now that the core 4 are back together. Something very special tends to happen when those 4 get together, and I hope that continues. Thank you for your contributions to this historic group, Josh - you held your own, will always be a part of the RHCP legacy, and deserve all the respect and success that has (and hopefully will continue to) come your way!

While I'm happy about Frusciante returning, I honestly did not want it to be at Josh's expense. I really liked the guitar work on both records he did, especially The Getaway. I mean, there are songs on The Getaway that will literally not leave me until I die.The memories and emotional connection are there.
And I feel kind of upset about John coming back, in a way. Kind of like "You had your turn, do something else now. Start a band of your own.".
It's weird. It's like when you meet a friend again after a decade and you still like them but your lifestyles are different now and you know you can't go back to "the good old days", because you've grown old and possibly apart.
On the one hand, I learned how to play guitar to John's songs. On the other hand, I saw RHCP live with Josh and didn't get into RHCP properly until after John was out.
Also, it's 3:30 AM and I should probably go to bed. hahaha

He was playing with band already for long time, was clearly visible at concerts and he and John were friends. You know what upsets me about this, I’m John’s biggest fan and I love all his solo stuff especially.. him and josh collaborated so many times on stuff I just assumed they were friends. So why did John not come to Josh beforehand and say that he really wanted to rejoin the band? You would expect friends to be kind to one another but seems like they just used josh to me.
I mean honestly.. who would not love to have both John and Josh in the chillis? Was that not even an option? Seems like the chillis are full of ego now tbh, and that doesn’t sit right with me.

I guess in short they could've handled the situation better. Maybe give him more hints..speak to him before and after. Maybe tell John to speak with him. A weird way to dump..sometimes it leads towards devastating stuff like breakdown or suicide. I love that Frusciante is back. But I hope Josh is doing fine and the RHCP members are keeping track of his well being. Josh is handling it well in public.

They should have had John and Josh compete against each other in a playoff. Who ever wins gets to stay in the band. At least if Josh lost he would know he lost because he wasn't better than John but if Josh won at least John would know how far he's fallen and he's not worthy of returning.

People are people. Don't expect so much of them. And yes, the expectation that Josh AND John would be in the band together at the same time is unrealistic. Of course there's ego. These guys have lived in Hollywood the better part of their lives. Surprisingly enough, that changes a person.😂
