Good trip to downtown! I used to work in Brea, & took the Metrolink from Burbank to Union Station & the Amtrak to Fullerton. I recently took the Amtrak from Union Station to San Diego. I never get tired of the trains - they're a great way to see different parts of CA! Good video!
I paid the extra because I prefer the train and you can have a snack or a drink and it's just more comfortable however Fullerton to downtown is 30 minutes and is more economical, so it makes since.

I think if you buy an antrack ticket it works like a pass on metrolink and dash buses.
