Do they host member-only videos, like patron?

I like Klee. She’s cute and funny. Just found your videos. Rafi, you’re nice too.

I have 4 Patreon members, and I cherish them dearly. But I just lost one, and this video helped me see the forest for the trees. So thank you for that! I just have to keep doing what I'm doing, and hope to build more community and find those who see value in what I'm doing. It's all an "art". I already have confidence I'm offering something unique, and love what I do. It's just a matter of finding the audience for it. But mostly just keep true to my visions.

I soft launched a patreon just to get my branding tag in there. There's one gal who basically does stationary and stickers. So with her patreon, there's two things. one level gets you a secret access password before her shop opens. The other level is one postcard & a sticker a month. The shop almost sells out as soon as she releases the password. (For curious people, I'm talking about Leigh Ellexson) Most of her audience is from UA-cam. I don't even come close to her following but I thought that was one smart way to use patreon.

Another perfectly timed talk - thank you! This is one of my collection of major issues, and the one I'm most desperate to get resolved so I can I can integrate outreach into my practice and then, y'know, get back to the practice. Right now, it's not integrated and it's acting as an interruption, not a working part. I've got to figure out how to use the tools on Patreon and other platforms to do what I need them to do, without pissing off the people who run the platforms, and without changing what I need to do into what they'd like me to do. I'm still in brainstorming mode.

I agree with a lot of what you say, having tried my hand at memberships, etc. and they bumped. But with Patreon I'm seeing a new alternative that I am witnessing with one of my art teachers. She is an artist and is focused on her art. However, she offers two things in Patreon that do not add too much in her plate but also capitalize on what she is already doing:
    1. She has a membership tier where we see step-by-step videos of she doing her commissions and work. We also get discount for special workshops she does every year. It's $25 a month, and I love it. I have learned so much because she is a really good communicator and teacher and she talks as she is painting, and she can also stay in her process, so it's sometimes like a meditation.
    2. She has a premium level where people get the basic process videos PLUS they can--after 6 months-- order a commissioned piece. This means that for $75 a month X 12 months= $900 you can get a commission that would cost you in the thousands$$, plus enjoy step-by-steps videos and everything else.
So if you can find a sweet spot where you can share what you do in a way that is useful and inspiring and maybe even relaxing to your members, then that's a good deal because it will be something extra (filming the videos) but it will not cut into your art creation.

Thanks for the insight guys! I created a patreon account and then just left it because I had NO idea what "special" things to offer. Still don't know if I want to follow through but you gave me some things to think about!

One VERY important point: get your audience from somewhere else than Patreon. They do a good job dealing with a lot of the stuff you (probably) don't want to have to deal with but they won't get you an audience. I run a Patreon and got all of my subscribers from outside of Patreon.

i've thought about opening a Patreon to try to create a community of like minded people wanting art advice, sometimes art, traditional or digital but I know I dont have the time for it lol maybe in the future (maybe)
