- The two mornings prior to Egg #3's arrival, Shadow met Jackie at the Lookout Snag tree with sweet morning chortles. He then flew off to the nest to give Jackie a break from incubating through the night. They have set up a very smooth routine! Shadow seems to always enjoy his Daddy duty, sometimes so much he waits as long as he can to get up off the eggs! Jackie finally gives him a soft feather nibble, a little bump or some sweet talk to tell him his time is up. He's such a great Dad!
They must have somehow anticipated another egg on the way as they both brought in more fluff deliveries this week. The nest is looking quite cozy now for their little trio of eggs. It was nice that Nature allowed Jackie to lay Egg #3 in the calm of last evening and just before the storm today. She's a trooper and very strong! She's weathered many storms, teaching us the meaning of patience and perseverance.
Jackie and Shadow are running a smooth well-organized household for their new "party of five" and their switcheroos have been totally in sync. This is super important now as they could have three little newly hatched chicks scurrying around the nest in just about a month or so!
Shadow has brought in some special fish gifts this week just for Jackie. These gifts are extra and not something the male normally does prior to chicks hatching. This is one reason why Shadow is such a perfect mate to Jackie and just another reason we all love him so much!
When there's a break in the weather and Shadow comes in to take over, this also allows Jackie a nice break to stretch her wings and get a bite to eat. If full, their crop (like an expandable to-go box) can hold enough food for a few days so no worries, Jackie's doing just fine. During inclement weather, eagles fly less and stay perched out of the elements. While incubating, we may also notice them laying very still like Jackie has been, which is to conserve energy.
Of course, the highlight of the last few days was the laying of the third egg last evening. Mating vocals were heard early Wednesday morning and they continued with regular stick and fluff deliveries throughout the day. Jackie prefers to stay in the nest and incubate overnight while Shadow will have his time during the day.
Shadow landed under the nest this morning and was seen later flying off. It's only a matter of time now when he will get to see their third egg. We are in some exciting times eagle family and so glad you are here to experience it with us!
🦅🎉🦅 Today, February 1st, we are also celebrating Jackie & Shadow's annual “Hatch Day!” Since neither are banded, we don't know their exact ages but their age was determined by plumage when they first came to the nest. Jackie is now 12 years and Shadow is 10 years old!
If you happen to miss something, please take a moment to bookmark and follow our Daily Recap to see what's happening at the nest!

Thank you. I didn't pay attention🤦
Why's it titled"party of 5"?
What happened to the 3rd egg? 🤷♀️
This video was taken yesterday morning, before egg 3 was laid at 6:00pm yesterday evening.
This makes me so happy for them 🦅❤️🦅 they’ve tried so hard and been so diligent and sweet. I love them both and their beautiful little family.
❤️
❤️
❤
🧡🦅🦅🧡
Love to see these wonderful, loving parents Taki g such good care of their babies.
I know it snowed overnight. I wish they would lay eggs in March!!
I feel that they should be adding more fluff. Jackie went out to get more fluff, but Shadow is persistent with those sticks! From watching other eagle cams, I’ve noticed that the nest are well fluffed, opposed to this one. And we have seen in recent years how bad it can get with snow build up. I wish they would bring in more insulation! But that’s just my opinion...
Amazing how they work together. Jackie and Shadow. ❤
What’s happened to the third egg? I’m watching the video but only see two eggs now!
This video was taken yesterday morning, before the third egg was laid at 6:00pm yesterday evening.
@@FOBBVCAM thank you 🙂
Amazing !! Happy days are here again!
Watched Jackie and Shadow for a long time, my hubby and I truly think they’re very special and we love them ❤️🦅❤️🦅. ❤️ So beautiful and happy for them ❤️
This is EGGcellent news! TTE bc snow and wind are no match for their instinctive behaviors and the wonderful way they are made for the elements. Plus, they are experienced parents. Loving the front row here!
❤
This is so exciting!! ❤
So beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Jackie and Shadow are mature and at their most gorgeous IMO So happy they have 2 eggs which doubles their chance of success 🤞 💓💓
Late 1/31. Jackie had another egg, hence the title "Party of 5." 🎉🎉🎉
Where did the 3rd egg go???
@@hollyashbaugh8797 it wasn't there yet . She laid it late on the same day as this video was.
I gotta say, sitting there for more than a month I’d go absolutely crazy!
Not with a reliable trusty partner coming to relieve you like clockwork 😊
@@artimidz3451 somebody stick a tv up there!
If only humans followed their instincts rather than self-will....
On a branch 😂
gotta admit its a pretty sweet spot though
I didn’t allow myself to hope for a third egg, but I am so pleasantly surprised!! It couldn’t have happened at a better time or to a better couple. Here’s to hoping we see little eaglets this year
“Can never have too many sticks”…Shadow
Yay!!!🎉🎉🎉 🥳 🥳 🎂 🎉🎉🎉
Oh! Shadow was out gathering a big stick! Hope he goes fishing b4 it starts snowing😮
@ FOBBV The best description EVER 🎉 the crop is an expandable To Go box😂❤

Amen 🙏 ❤
Love these two wonderful eagle parents taking such good care of their babies.

Shadow: 😦 HOW DARE YOU
Yes!!
🎉😘🥚🥚🥚🦅🦅🪺
Jackie, Shadow & Co. represent the beauty of this world. Thank you so much for the description box, very helpful for us noobies
I am soooo looking forward to seeing THREE fluffy chicks. Mom & Dad will be so busy keeping them fed.
One thing that has baffled me for months now is that with all the nest work they have done, that silly huge pinecone is still in there.
I can't imagine it is particularly comfy to sit on that. It would take but a moment to toss that out.
I was wondering the same thing?
RandyPam. It’s 32 there right now, Thursday, Feb. 1st , 6:40 pm
There’s one egg missing 🤔
This vid was before egg 3
So happy for Jackie and shadow. They really have been working so hard for their family ❤
So I am assuming that because she left another egg is on the way.
So fascinating to observe!
Thanks for all your information, just love Jackie and Shadow!
I must be missed county cause I only seen two eggs
This was before egg 3
I love how they push their beak into the sticks or snow, then wiggle their body to position over the eggs...their beaks act like a pivot..
❤
Someone stock that lake, there's a lot of mouths to feed soon. 🦅
Last year it was
Helo ❤❤❤😅
What awesome video of our sweet Eagle couple Jackie and Shadow coming in and out of the nest never missing a beat either.👏🏻👏🏻🥰🦅🦅❤️. I just love this Eagle couple so much and the soft sounds they were doing to each other were just so tender and quite loving too. I also loved when Jackie had given Shadow a soft tail nibble and Shadow was like, “ Don’t touch my feathers like that!”. Then I think she was trying to say “I love you sweetheart”.❤️🦅🦅. It is exciting to have found out that they now have three eggs which will be awesome but however, I do know that there’s snow or will be snow up in the mountains and I’m not too excited about that for them however, I know I have to “Trust the Eagles” cause they do truly know what they are doing. Thanks again for this awesome video of this precious and sweet loving couple Jackie and Shadow too. I pray for nothing but absolute success for them and their triplets too. Hugs! Sue M. Florida 🙏🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️☺️😘🦅🦅🥚🥚🥚🥳🥳❌⭕️❌⭕️
She had egg three on my birthday so im pretty sure he or she will be my favorite =)
I’m going to donate $5 on behalf of the ‘Party of 5!’ And I challenge everyone as excited as me to do the same. This is worth celebrating and we all want to keep enjoying the opportunity to watch our favorite family. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your generous support! It is greatly appreciated!
A flock of eagles 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
Great post
Shadow needs to get to work and put a roof on that nest!
Im so happy for this couple. Love it.
Thanks for an opportunity to witness this. Very happy I've found this channel.
Thanks so much for great video, update and info! 🎉❤
They want to be parents so bad this year. ❤️❤️🙏🙏
❤❤❤❤
Party of five? I only count 2 eggs
This was before egg 3
That branch was a perfect fit
Anyone know what would happen if shadow died or became ill/injured? Would jakie have to give up on the eggs? I guess she would, these ones anyway. Would she try to find another mate, and if so, when?
Hi there...Jackie would continue to incubate. If something did happen to Shadow, she would most likely take another mate moving forward.
@@FOBBVCAM thank you. Fascinating channel and topic. Bald eagles were always very mysterious to me. It’s amazing to get to know them so intimately.
You are very welcome!@@Ryan-mq2mi
Can someone please put a fleece up there for them to keep them warm and roof? They are cold 😢
Thankfully, Bald Eagles have 7,000 interlocking feathers that keep out all moisture and serve as a better fleece than anything humans could buy! Even when covered in snow, Jackie remains a toasty 105 degrees Fahrenheit!
@@FOBBVCAM oh thank you for telling me that. I was so sad and thinking she was cold. Thank you
Yeah, but from watching other eagle cams, I’ve noticed that Shadow and Jackie don’t fluff (insulate) their nest quite as well as others do. I believe that Jackie has the wherewithal to know she needs more fluff, because she actually made a special trip to try and collect some more fluff while she’s multitasking... And Shadow is just obsessed with sticks! Jackie might be 105 degrees, and keeping the top of the eggs warm, but what about the bottom? Insulation appears to be pretty thin on this nest.
Was Jackie looking for Shadow in their
other nesting trees? Has he seen the 3rd egg yet?
Shadow has since seen the third egg this morning and actually took over nesting duties from Jackie while she stretched her wings!
I thought there were 3 eggs?! Why a. I only seeing 2? Am l missing something?
This video was taken yesterday morning, before egg 3 was laid at 6:00pm yesterday evening.
@FOBBVCAM the reason l asked is it said 6 hours ago and the egg 3 said 23 hrs ago. Hence, my confusion. Anyways, l saw 3 on the latest, so all is good. Thanks again.
Crikey, that wind! Don't they worry a chick could get blown off the nest?
Good birdies.
They KNEW the weather was about to turn bad!!! God gave them and us our instincts and common sense....thing is...they use what they were given.
That incoming at 3:55 was quite comical. Someone's got the morning wobbles.
Aww they made two baby easy🦅🦅yeaya congratulations shadow and Jackie. We love you.💙👼🌱🐶😇🦅💋🌲
Jackie laid 3 🥚🥚🥚's💗❕ I don't think this 🎥 shows it💁 I dunno but hope nothing happened to 1 of the 🥚's

What happened to the 3rd egg?
This video was taken yesterday morning, before egg 3 was laid at 6:00pm yesterday evening.
And perfect timing for a snowstorm. I don’t know why they have these eggs in the dead of winter.
There's an explanation in the reading materials FOBBV provides on the bitly. 😃
Egg laying season differs depending on the geographic location of the nest. It’s driven by the amount of daylight hours (photoperiod) birds are exposed to. The further south, the earlier the eggs are laid. For Jackie & Shadow egg laying season has been January through March with January being Jackie’s favorite month. party of five? i can only see 2 eggs?
This video was taken yesterday morning, before egg 3 was laid at 6:00pm yesterday evening.
@@FOBBVCAM ah, thank you!
How long can they leave the eggs unattended, what is the temp. There?
7:30 pm Thursday Feb. 1, it’s 32 degrees
7:59
There is no hard science on a specific amount of time an egg can be left exposed in poor weather. We know that eagle eggs are more at risk of 'overheating' if exposed to temperatures above 98 degrees Fahrenheit, than being exposed to too much cold. As with everything, we simply say 'Trust the Eagles'. They are designed to lay eggs in freezing cold temperatures far below what we experience here in Big Bear Lake (Alaska and Northern Canada, for example). We must trust their instincts and always hope for the best, as nature is unpredictable.
Why can I only see 2 eggs in the nest? Is one covered up?
This was before egg 3
Only two eggs,what happened?

What a synchronized couple I wish them all the best and hope that within a month and few days both will happy eagle parents🐣🐤🐥They deserves this so so much🥰❤💫
