Guess we should be besties. No one in my circle (And I dare say, Island) shares my pation for these non fucked child prodigies. Normally one of them would have overdosed but here they are keep getting better. Thats to respect in a long time band like pth that started so brilliantly young.
Never have I felt a comment harder than than this... All my friends are into metal, and none have said more than 'yeah, it's good' in reference to the perfection that is Palimpsest. Constantly disappointed in all of them over it. It's been four years and I still can't get over how perfect this album is...
What got me into the band was "Little Snakes", but after listening to the album several times since it's release, I can say for sure that this is my favourite song =D The breakdown that happens at 3:46 makes me feel alive
I've been listening to this album over and over and honestly I don't have a full on favorite song on this. The album is just SO DAMN GOOD but this song is definitely higher up on the list for me.
They stated on their FB-page that, in the light of recent protests, they did not want to overshadow juneteenth with an album release and therefore decided to release it a day early.
I wanted to wait for a while to listen to the album, so for me I went in with no idea what it would sound like. This one is a very strong track. Solid foundation of lyrics, a bass that will not stop the stomp on your head and guitar work that is so fucking solid. And don't even get me started on the drums.
I cant fucking wait for their next album! This one was insanely good, and the two b sides they released after..... Im seeing them tomorrow night for the Volition 10 year anniversary tour and im sooooooo hyped!
Just saw them on that tour too, also my appreciation for this album has been growing rapidly over the last year. Can't wait for the next album, they have been showing they are recording on social media!
Second time commenting because of course Im coming back to a full album listen to these geniosuses and, no shit, when I go back after my really depressing hiatus for playing and composibg my own weird wannabe math rock (pop? I mean. Mi ideas circle about all those bangers from street fighter, kirby, goemon...) and I will start with 2:06. That will be a nice warm up and return to ugly ass fingertips.
Im unfortunately doing my first full listen through because im a horrible fan, but you all are just as awesome as when i saw you touring fortress in Lexington Kentucky
"Soliloquy" You can reach for your service pistol By the time you get it, I'm betting that this will be Over and done with, leave your badge and your gun You won't be coming home tonight Because you're dealing with a man at the end of his rope And I'll be swinging for the fences on a prayer and a hope There'll be no celebrations, or banner, libations Just your sad and lonely wife You want the glory Resplendent kill You want the story of the ill-famed blood you spilled 'Cause there's a Midwest overcoat And it's begging to be filled And if I'm not caught wearing it, you will You'll have to do better than that You'll have to do better than that 'Cause it passed right through the abdomen of this same old lucky cat Yeah, you'll have to do better than that Fuck it In 1916, at 7 years old, I shot a kid in the mug with a found pistol First taste of the bracelets, first taste of the can Gave him a taste of the grave before his life began And all we know is all that we've been told Reformed or refined, as if by design By a prison system that's all but resigned When the ideal prisoner should spend his life drifting back and forth Back and forth Back and forth Back and forth So swaddle me in a Native blanket You know I can't stand being cold Leave me out front of the bleeding church To meet the head of the household I sold my soul for a handful of kills and a bankroll I sold my soul Swaddle me in a Native blanket You know I can't stand being cold Leave me out front of the bleeding church To meet the head of the household I sold my soul You want the glory Resplendent kill You want the story of the ill-famed blood you spilled 'Cause there's a Midwest overcoat And it's begging to be filled And if I'm not caught wearing it, you will Drive, just drive Get in the car, just drive away Just drive Get in the car, just drive away You'll have to do better than that You'll have to do better than that 'Cause it passed right through the abdomen of this same old lucky cat Yeah, you'll have to do better than that Oh, you'll have to do better than that You'll have to do better than that 'Cause it passed right through the abdomen of this same old lucky cat Yeah, you'll have to do better than that (Fuck it) Oh no I think I'm bleeding out You take the wheel, so take the wheel Oh no (You'll have to do better) I think I'm bleeding out (You'll have to do better than that) You take the wheel, so take the wheel (You'll have to do better) (You'll have to do better than that)
@@cheeziobodini My man. That is so incredibly specific lol, how'd you figure that out? Edit: Ah, after a google search, it seems one of Babyface Nelson's partners, John Dillinger, remarked ""I will be the meanest bastard you ever saw when I get out of here."
This is my favorite song on Palimpsest.
1:57 This slaps harder than my stepdad
My favorite part of the whole album and I love the whole thing. Part is going to fucking bounce if they play it live
Moving my shoulders from left to right. What a groooveee
Megan Wood 🤟🏽
Oh god, why isn't any of my friends amazed by the splendor of this album ? I need to make new friends !
Hi
Hi. I am "friend."
Same! I will always love Volition but all my buddy's hate on this album and I personally think it's a great contribution to progmetal.
Guess we should be besties. No one in my circle (And I dare say, Island) shares my pation for these non fucked child prodigies.

If only Nobel prize could be achieved through music, "Protest the hero" should win it at least twice!
Protest just keeps getting better! Man I love Rody's voice, dude is so talented
What got me into the band was "Little Snakes", but after listening to the album several times since it's release, I can say for sure that this is my favourite song =D The breakdown that happens at 3:46 makes me feel alive
If you really want to live then listen to kezia and fortress
And if you want to die of eargasm listen to Volition.
this is a god damned masterpiece, this song in particular but the album is just unreal!
I love how there songs sound like they're on the verge of chaos.
the 3 chords at 04:20 are the same that can be heard in Reverie at 03:11, what a nice anticipation
I listen to 311 on 420, makes sense to me
1:08 into that breakdown... Man that's awesome. Headbanging like crazy when that part comes on
I love you guys, just seen you in Chicago! Best show ever
Thanks for making this album. Can't stop listening this!!!
I've been listening to this album over and over and honestly I don't have a full on favorite song on this. The album is just SO DAMN GOOD but this song is definitely higher up on the list for me.
0:17 vocal delivery makes me think of At The Drive In
True! They are fans of them and the Mars Volta, so it doesn’t surprise me.
GODDAMN I wasn't expecting you guys to drop three songs one day before release.
They released the whole album my guy. Have fun😋

3:46 - freakin' goose bumps
🙏🏽🤘🏼
YOU TAKE THE WHEEL, SO TAKE THE WHHHHHEEEEEELLL
I wish that part could have gone on for 4 more minutes... Wow
I don't know why a verse repeated after a lull hits harder, but it is very satisfying.
I cant fucking wait for their next album! This one was insanely good, and the two b sides they released after.....

Very Very Goood! Congratulations. Soliloquy is beautiful
THERE'S A MIDWEST OVERCOAT
AND IT'S WAITING TO BE FILLED
AND IF I'M NOT CAUGHT WEARING IT?
YOU WILL!
*YOU'LL HAVE TO DO BETTER THAN THAT, FUCK IT!*

Wonderfully refreshing on a bleeding hot day.
Im unfortunately doing my first full listen through because im a horrible fan, but you all are just as awesome as when i saw you touring fortress in Lexington Kentucky
Touring sorry
Painfully relevant in 2020...achingly applicable. Fuck, these guys are just too good.
God I love this song!! My favorite on Palimpsest with The Fireside! But the Instrumentals is the best album I heard wow
Favourite off the album
"you'll have to better than that.......foouck it!"
All Palimpsest song is fit for Jojo Part 7 Steel Ball Run
0:25 reminds me so much of Sic Transit Gloria by Brand New.. what a weird connection
most metal song on the album
Holy shit.
Oshawa represent.

Guest vocals? Any chance that's Elliot Desgagnés?
Rythym guitarist
Oh no. I think I'm bleeding out!
Real
"Soliloquy"
You can reach for your service pistol
By the time you get it, I'm betting that this will be
Over and done with, leave your badge and your gun
You won't be coming home tonight
Because you're dealing with a man at the end of his rope
And I'll be swinging for the fences on a prayer and a hope
There'll be no celebrations, or banner, libations
Just your sad and lonely wife
You want the glory
Resplendent kill
You want the story of the ill-famed blood you spilled
'Cause there's a Midwest overcoat
And it's begging to be filled
And if I'm not caught wearing it, you will
You'll have to do better than that
You'll have to do better than that
'Cause it passed right through the abdomen of this same old lucky cat
Yeah, you'll have to do better than that
Fuck it
In 1916, at 7 years old, I shot a kid in the mug with a found pistol
First taste of the bracelets, first taste of the can
Gave him a taste of the grave before his life began
And all we know is all that we've been told
Reformed or refined, as if by design
By a prison system that's all but resigned
When the ideal prisoner should spend his life drifting back and forth
Back and forth
Back and forth
Back and forth
So swaddle me in a Native blanket
You know I can't stand being cold
Leave me out front of the bleeding church
To meet the head of the household
I sold my soul for a handful of kills and a bankroll
I sold my soul
Swaddle me in a Native blanket
You know I can't stand being cold
Leave me out front of the bleeding church
To meet the head of the household
I sold my soul
You want the glory
Resplendent kill
You want the story of the ill-famed blood you spilled
'Cause there's a Midwest overcoat
And it's begging to be filled
And if I'm not caught wearing it, you will
Drive, just drive
Get in the car, just drive away
Just drive
Get in the car, just drive away
You'll have to do better than that
You'll have to do better than that
'Cause it passed right through the abdomen of this same old lucky cat
Yeah, you'll have to do better than that
Oh, you'll have to do better than that
You'll have to do better than that
'Cause it passed right through the abdomen of this same old lucky cat
Yeah, you'll have to do better than that
(Fuck it)
Oh no
I think I'm bleeding out
You take the wheel, so take the wheel
Oh no (You'll have to do better)
I think I'm bleeding out (You'll have to do better than that)
You take the wheel, so take the wheel (You'll have to do better)
(You'll have to do better than that)
They're in the description.
Oops 😬

Anyone know who the song is about?
Babyface Nelson and the Battle of Barrington
@@cheeziobodini My man. That is so incredibly specific lol, how'd you figure that out?
