Great debut for buddy Matthews his a great fit for NJPW him and okada gel well! Hopefully we see these guy's wrestle for a heavyweight championship next time, okada and will ofspreay segments was really great hyped for there match at the Tokyo Dome at wrestlekingdom should be a classic
Can someone explain to me who’s the actual champion of NJPW. I know Ibushi unified the belts but I swear there’s 3 people who say they are the world champion rn.
Will Ospreay was the champ and got injured. Shingo Takagi won the vacant title. Will Ospreay then returned from injury claiming he was still the champion with his own belt claiming Shingo to be an interim champion. Then Okada won the G1 and decided to use the old belt to represent being the G1 Champion, all the while in defiance of the new belt which he doesn't like. All of this will be resolve with Shingo vs. Okada on January 4th at WK16 Night 1 and Ospreay vs. The Winner on January 5th at WK16 Night 2. It's a lot of stuff, but it will be resolved at Wrestle Kingdom.
Shingo Takagi is the actual champion. Will Ospeary claims that he is still the "IWGP World Heavyweight Champion" since he didn't lose it. And Okada wanted to wear his favorite belt instead of getting a shot at the new championship for winning the G1 Climax.
@@TheFlamingShark it's an incredible storyline Gedo is the best booker in the business. Nobody has his skill when it comes to character development and long term storytelling
Thanks for the summary. I'm trying to get caught up after I saw them in Philly and missed about 1 year. I saw Will had the belt (another version, looked terrible), heard dragon was the champion and now I see Okada with the old strap. Looks like fun and can't wait to be caught up.
@@2Good2BeTrue45 I love the continuity of the wrestlers being consistent about who does and does not like the new belt, and Okada believing how there's only ever one top champion and all that, but I don't particularly think the pandemic era of NJPW storytelling has been amazing. I think 2022 will be a huge year for NJPW as they'll get back on track and will celebrate their 50th year of existence with a lot of collaborations with other promotions in Japan and elsewhere, but as much as I think NJPW at its best is the best pro-wrestling, I don't particularly think this storyline is the best example. Hyped as hell for the matches at Wrestle Kingdom though, and I do think Wrestle Kingdom will kick off a huge year of New Japan, the best one in a while.
I'm not that much into NJPW, so I'd like to ask, what's the current status of the belts? Takagi has official Heavyweight title, Osprey is going rogue saying he's the real champ because he never lost and now what's the deal with Okada? Is this official belt that was brought back or he carries it just to flex?
Shingo is the current world champ undisputed. Osperay had to vacate the title due to injury and when he came back he brought the title with him claiming he never lost it. When Okada won the G1 climax he replaced his trophy with V4 of the IWGP heavyweight championship and is now carrying around that belt as a certificate of his G1 victory and it has also been heavily implied that he plans to make that belt the official title once again if he beats shingo at wrestle kingdom

Don’t think to much into it Matthews. Also, WWE is way way over-rated. They are slow and just don’t know how to wrestle. If you do know how to wrestle, the WWE keeps you off tv as not to make the rest of their mistakes, I mean talent look bad. Matthews knows that already
@Erik Kenney WWE might not be as consistently good as NJPW is & WWE's overall quality might not be what it used to be but they are not overrated. You say they don't know how to wrestle but Edge & Seth Rollins had a phenomenal rivalry, possibly the best feud of 2021. Bobby Lashley had a fantastic title run as did Drew McIntyre before him and Roman Reigns has evolved by leaps & bounds ever since he debuted his Tribal Chief heel persona having amazing matches with the likes of Daniel Bryan & even cena. I'm not a cena fan but he & Roman had a heck of a match in this year's Sumnerslam. The only thing holding WWE back from being fully reborn into a true force in the business again is washed-up Vince McMahon & his lackeys Dunn, Laurenitus & Khan. Until Vince finally leaves WWE than things unfortunately will never improve and the one man who can improve WWE & guide it into the future is dealing with an unfortunate health scare. WWE is not overrated but they are currently under very braindead incompetent management.

Buddy Mathews would dominate in a lot of these companies as a heavyweight or junior
I like the look of the new belt it's different it is something unique.
I miss that version of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship belt.......
We all do. The new one just look like US Air Force wings on a strap designed only for Ospreay
Man i'm so glad to se Buddy in NJPW,finaly he is where he belong to be,real wrestling not like that crap.
Njpw should start putting all these backstage comment in this channel again or they can put in all three channels but I'm wondering why this are late
I wonder that too they stopped putting their Japanese backstage comments in the other channel.
Hopefully buddy Matthews joins NJPW strong maybe next strong openweight champion
Bring back the old IWJP heavyweight title belt (the one Okada is holding)! The new one looks bad
