I realize this video over 5 years old. Here are a few IMPORTANT things I learned about my Lowrance HDS7 Gen3 over the past few days. The process outlined in your video will work with CERTAIN Android or Apple products. What was not mentioned was the minimum system requirements for either the Android or Apple operating systems. As of August 12, 2020 I found out the Android operating system on your connected device must be at least version 4.4 or higher, and that your Apple Product i.e. IPAD must have a operating system of at least ISO 9.0 I was able to connect with a fairly new IPAD and it worked nicely. I was also able to connect with my Android Galaxy A10E cell phone and it also worked great. Tried to download the app unto a older DOPO tablet running Android operating system 4.2 and it would not even recognize the app for download on the Play Store. I assume it was because it detected the operating system of the device that I was trying to download it to and determined that the operating system was not recent enough to properly run the software. The bottom line is that this program WILL NOT RUN ON ALL VERSIONS of Android or Apple operating system so you need to make sure the tablet you want to use meets the MINIMUM operating system requirements listed above. I like this newly discovered feature and I intend to use it on my boat. Update 10-05-2020 Downloaded the Link Connect Your Boat app to use on my older PAD2 model MC764LL/A running ISO version 9.3.6 to mirror the screen on my Lowrance HDS7Gen3 Chartplotter. To say the least I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. Trying to get the Link Connect Your Boat app to sync up with the Lowrance unit by clicking the (Remote) icon in the app on my PDAD2 would not connect and kept giving me several different error messages. If you could ever get it to sync up it seems to work as advertised. Question: How to get past the error messages and get the app linked up with the Lowrance unit? Answer: If I received an error message I would return to the app screen that displayed the (Remote Control) icon. On the Left Panel is has an Icon (Add Devices Manually) on my screen is displayed (Ad...ually) which stood for (Add Devices Manually) 1: I clicked on that icon which displayed another screen. I then clicked on the (Back) icon on the top left of the displayed screen. 2: Then I clicked again on the (Remote Control) Icon to sync the app to the Lowrance unit. Sometimes it would auto sync as expected and other times it would give you another error message. If it gave me another error message, I would just repeat steps 1 and 2 unit it would finally sync to the lowrance unit. Usually 2 to 3 times is all that is necessary. So far this sequence has not failed me. I intend to take the boat out this week and hope all works well on the water. Hope this information will help some other user. I would have thought my now the software developer would have fixed this BUG. John
PRO:1. Use these for attaching weights on the line. 2. Plenty of sizes.3. Durable ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUggREp1Kytzg8CpXMHFtlfQp4bskrIuy and won't rust so far. CON:1. Seems the price is going up on these.2. May now work in all situations if going for a picky species of fish.3. The really small ones are not that strong.OTHER:1. BUY if you want the best price to quantity on friend, that I think.2. DON'T BUY if you are working with really picky species of fish, these may turn fish away.
Can more then 1 ipad connect to the HDS G3 at the same time? I'd like to have the HDS at my console and have an iPad up front for me and my fishing buddy have access to it from the back of the boat as well. Thanks! ... looks like an awesome product! Can't wait to try it.
If connecting an iPad to a lower resolution unit like the 800x480 HDS3 7 or 9, will the resolution seen on the ipad screen represent the higher resolution of 1280x800 of the HDS3 12? ... or just a "enlarged/scaled" representation of what is possible on the Lowrance unit connected?
I would also like to know what Fahad is asking. are we limited to just mirroring the main unit's display? if so.. then please give us the functionality to select any screen layout on the remote screens! Dare to be different and let us have this functionality!
can i split the screen like for example chart on the original screen and sonar on the other because if i cant actually use the extra screen in my case its useless in another words not a big deal
As far as I know, nobody has that capability right now. The purpose of making the connection is to mirror your unit. You can use your phone or tablet at the bow of your boat without having to go back to your console.
I’ve mirrored my iPad to my HDS Live. My question is, if I make a split screen on the Lowrance unit of map and sonar. Can I make it put the map on the iPad and the sonar page on the Lowrance unit? Basically left page on the screen send that to the iPad and the right screen keep it on Lowrance ?
Hi, thank you for great video. I have lowrence gen 3 and I would like to ask a question. I want to put two cameras on my boat. is that be possible to connection between lowrence gen 3 and 2 wireless cameras. Thanks for yor help
Tried setting it up to my Samsung TabE, my tab sees the unit, they see each other, but i can't mirror screen and how do you transfer updates from a pad to the unit?
I have a new HDS-12 GEN3 and an Iphone 6S Plus. I have watched your video, contacted Lowrance support and I cannot get my Iphone to connect. When I perform these same steps as the video I can see the HDS-12 on my phone but when I type in the correct password my phone says the password is incorrect. I was told by Lowrance support to try different channels...I tried 1-11 but still did not work. Should not be this hard. Please help
Yes, it works on the water. You change the unit to a wireless access point, and connect your iPad to the unit's wifi. This video may also be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/wjgyfrus27E/v-deo.html Once you're connected, you can control your unit from your iPad from anywhere on your boat.
Hi Yes The Elite Ti has this functionality. You can find instructions in your manual starting on page 90. Here is a link to the downloads page where you can find the manual downloads.lowrance.com/

Why do folks do this? I can't for the life of me find out the benefit or use of an external connected device when out in the sun and /or fishing? No Ipad or tablet I have found can show well in the sunlight or even under my hardtop. Just curios of the use?
@@lowrance Yes, I understand that and appreciate the flexibility, but why does someone need to do this? Maybe I can learn from it. That is all I am asking.
@@Grady252 It provides a portable display that can be in the stateroom, cabin, or almost anywhere on the boat. As mentioned it won't fit every application but is another tool in the toolbox to use if and when needed.

How do you turn down the LOUD Clicking on the iPad? I have my volume muted, but it clicks Very Loudly still...
When you are on the water do u need WiFi or cam it be done via blue tooth ?
You do not need internet to mirror your HDS Gen3 to you mobile device. Bear in mind the Link Connect app is no longer supported.
So dose both units gotta be on at the same time

Jim Ryan did you get it sorted yet? If not, try Changing the password to something new as that's what I did and it worked.
Thank you!!!!
Does it work on the water also? Do u have to have a Wi-Fi comnetion

When I press ‘wireless devices’ all it says is Internal Wireless-Connected. But it still does not connect my iPad to the Lowrance!
