The Kanchanjunga Express is an express train belonging to Eastern Railway zone that runs between Sealdah and Silchar in India. It is currently being operated with 13175/13176 train numbers on a tri-weekly basis.
Silchar railway station is a railway station situated at Tarapur, Silchar in Assam. The railway station falls under the jurisdiction of the Northeast Frontier Railway zone of the Indian Railways. The railway gauge functioned here is Indian Gauge. The station has three platforms. It serves Silchar, as well as the whole Barak Valley. Trains operate to different cities of India from Silchar including Kolkata, Guwahati, Agartala, New Delhi, Vishakhapatnam, Chennai , Vijayawada, Dibrugarh, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.

Not at all, Assam has hardly any plain land, most railway tracks have to cross gradients and slopes at regular intervals
