They know full well that a full scale war will cut off the straight of Hormuz, causing devastating consequences to the world economy… China might not be green light on this possibility, yet.
People need to understand that Iran must have China on board, in case they go to full scale war with America. Israel and USA “military might” is the last case scenario for why Iran has not retaliated yet.

It will be hybrid, multidirectional (Hezb and Ansaralleh also have a score to settle, as well as others), it will last around 4 days and one of the reasons for the current delay is to prepare for a conter attack. The main delay is because it’s Arba’een, a massive Shia holiday and pilgrimage, commemorating the Shia’s foundational battle of Karbala (Iraq). There are currently around 3 million Iranian pilgrims, trekking across Iraq, in the biggest annual human movement in the world. Millions come from other Shia countries too. Actually, some Sunni participate as well. I suspect nothing will happen till the end of Arba’een which is the 25th or 26th of August. It may even have to be a bit later, as the walking targets have to get beck to their countries. I also think the beginning of the operation will be at 2 am local time. Qassem Soleimani was assassinated at 1:20 am, and thereafter, Iran hit back at the western interest at that time, which is locally referred to as Haj Qassem’s time. Hanniyeh was assassinated at 2 am local time. But I assure anyone reading this, there will be a severe retaliation, as the Supreme Leader has clearly stated. In fact he said, if we don’t stop this infanticidal regime-who will continue to attack us-I am answerable to God. Iranian retaliation should not be a direct strike on Israeli territory, they can take out one or two Israeli top officials via special operations but not direct strike. America and some European country are so eager for a conflict with Iran that they will use anything as a pretext. I don't think things can go on like this. Modern warfare is so complicated and expensive that nobody can afford it. Countries like the U.K. and France, which have been world powers for hundreds of years, can't even build and maintain small air forces and armies. Furthermore, the people in charge don't know what to do, so they lurch from one thing to the next. I can't see this as a steady-state system.
To be more specific, the west can't afford modern warfare because they de-industrialized and because wall street is bleeding their economy dry. Russia is showing that it can afford modern warfare just fine. And China has such an absurd industrial capacity that I bet it can also manufacture sufficient weapons.
A critical problem of the west is that their "defense" industry is for-profit, contrary to Russia and China who have a for-purpose defense industry.
Its shameful for US and EU to protect Netanyahu.
Europe is like that old drunk who challenges everyone at the bar to a fight and ends up getting his ass kicked.

I think the Saudis are shitting themselves as they don’t want a conflict in their region. No amount of billions will protect them from the fallout. Incidentally/ my nephew works in Saudi Arabia. I think he should come home to Australia.
