How are we feeling now after this video? Team iPhone 15 Pro Max or Team Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra?
Great comparison, while the iphone seems to edge out the s23 especially in specific night scenario's the difference is such a small margin that iphone should really be worried about the s24
Samsung video at night is a noisy mess 🤔
Samsung galaxy S23 Ultra
for video iphone any day, but s23 ultra is just a better phone :)
S23 Ultra
I'm surprised how close they are to be honest. Samsung has done a really good job at closing the overall video gap. I am really disappointed that the new iPhone coating didn't take care of the lens flare issue this time around. The announcement of the new anti-reflective coating was the feature I was most excited about yet Apple is still behind Samsung there.
Apple is in a different class to Samsung altogether
Samsung has better night lighting control in some modes
But the picture integrity is poor
Apple has picture integrity due to a brilliant shutter
Apple as a media device is without equal
I can't think of any justifiable reason to acquire the Samsung instead of the iPhone
@@andrewlinesjah4538if you talk about camera alone then yes iphone 15 PM is a bit better like 60-40, video was always better on the iphone but S23 has great video quality too like if s23 is excellent iphone is excellent +1 but S23U was way better with pictures compared to the iphone 14 PM...keeping camera aside there are many many things i would be compromising if i buy an iphone & which make s23 a better device but if i count those features you'll start defending the iphone & say "We don't need that" 😅😅😅 So yeah whatever sails your boat but for me I am planning to buy one of them but still unable to convince myself to go for an iphone!
same. I thought the iPhone was way better, Samsung might ve imrpoved but its still no where near@@andrewlinesjah4538

Damn, it's unbelievable how well the Galaxy S23 Ultra is holding up against the new iPhone 15 Pro Max..
Very excited to see what Samsung will deliver with the Galaxy S24 Lineup. It's promising. 👍
Hahaha... It's not even close in fact the iPhone 14 pro max is a better camera phone than it...
What are you talking about, it’s not even close. iPhone won in almost all scenarios, even iPhone digital zoom is very impressive.
@@wasiahmed1547 it's about personal preference bro
Damn, it's unbelievable how well you are samshit fanboi
@@wasiahmed1547Better for video only. As everyone with knowledge and insight knows.
Still shocked that Samsung finally did really well with video on the S23 Ultra. Very happy about that. IPhone stilll beats it, particularly in low light footage, but it's never been so close.
And on photo more better day. has 8k
True
That's what people say every year and the iPhone still clears.
@@michaliskossyfas1253and isheep are always present lol
Вы наверное немного слепой, iPhone в этом видео был сравним, и часто прои6рывал Samsung-у. Купите себе большой монитор или очки...
Great video, as usual!
If I'm not mistaken, when in low light, the S23 Ultra doesn't use the optical zoom - it uses digital.
I think this is why the outcome at 9:05 is as it is. Not sure, but worth checking.
Bad video. Only 30fps....
Great comparison, Danny! Thanks for doing this for everyone.
Try the pro video mode where you can adjust temperature, shutter speed, iso, etc, it's really cool what you can do there. Full HD even allows live colour grading
just a tip for s23 ultra users.. just shoot in manual video at night.. it can control the noise really good :)
The problem I have when using an IPhone to record video when coming from a Samsung flagship is the unbelievable omission of pause record mode. Basic editing on the fly is so smooth on my S23 Ultra, but when I use my work colleagues 14 Pro Max for video I invariably end up with either an array of little video snippets or one overly long continuous boring video with too much walking around and nausea inducing panning and unwanted small talk. It is so irritating and unpleasant. My work colleague has tried third party apps to give his device this ability but they all come at a price and are not the perfect solution according to him.
That is very irritating and you can't switch from rear to selfie too and vice versa in iphone video recording
That's quite annoying and that's supposed to be a basic feature.
Great review!
One thing for sure with the front facing capture is that Samsung has better noise cancellation and it's is noticeably different.
Samsung has come a farrrr way otherwise and they have the optics and processing to beat Apple. Just a matter of time and software tweaking.
Absolutely amazing comparison! thanks, really helps :D
Great video! Love the low light videos
This was a great review! I appreciate your analysis and information.
That's the reason why Samsung is thinking to change 10x 10mp optical to 5x 50mp optical. If they do things right it would be better all the way. Samsung has high ceiling but their tuning and optimization is needed more, also with the help of 8gen2 it was going better than ever. If they focus well in video for the S24u, they can bring the best smarthphone for video easily. Not to mention if High bitrate option was used, maybe it would've done way better. Also other videos proved HDR10+ to do really good from the S23u. It would've been interesting to see those test by Danny.
I have a Galaxy S23 Ultra and was waiting for the video reviews to see if I should pick up the Apple iPhone 15 ProMax. Your review and several other reviewers have convinced me to stay with the S23 Ultra. These two phones are so good and so close in video recording quality it's not worth having both. Thanks for saving me a pile of cash. Great review!
Can’t hate on that! The S23 Ultra still fire
Great review … thanks you
One of the best comparisons on this platform, great job again 👍
Danny for President 🙌🏼. No other camera review touches yours. As fas as i am concerned, you are the Gold Standard for Camera Test. Thanks for all you do
You are the go-to channel when I'm looking for a video comparison. Keep up the great job.
I have a question, were high bit rate and HDR options on while testing the S23 Ultra?
One of the very few UA-camrs that explain in detail their view and conclusion. Thank you Danny. And thank you for separating the video comparison from the photo comparison. At 1:14 you were wondering why the rocks are clearer on the iPhone. I believe it is because Samsung was focusing on the wooden fence directly in front of you. I think this is something that happened a few times. I don’t know the algorithms used to find the point to focus at.
A question: had Auto FPS been activated on the Galaxy?
I think the quality is so good on both that it alone is no longer the main aspect for choosing one over the other. However, the lens flares on the iPhone are still destroying the night videos. This is for me a reason not to use the iPhone for videos at night. Btw., the rides in Magic Kingdom are the best use-case for Director’s view of Galaxy: I have so many videos with my kids on roller coasters with a split screen showing the ride and the reaction of my kids at the same time … this is simply priceless!
For the initial video test, I'm curious to know if "Voice Isolation" was enabled on the 15 PM. Standard mode picks up quite a bit of background noise but if you enable it on the iPhone, I think the audio would have sounded about the same on the S23 Ultra.
Nevertheless, it's great to see that both phones overall are amazing. Really can't go wrong with either choice these days
I love all of your comparison videos. I make sure to watch before upgrading to a new phone. Just a request if possible to have a comparison with the Huawei P60 pro also. Thanks!

Agreed 💯

Really good comparision!
The ride was the perfect time to test action mode 😭😭😭
Thanks for the quality comparison as usual. You’re the king of this segment on UA-cam.
action mode degrades quality big time in low light video, so does samsung's super steady mode
Thank you for sharing brother ❤
I have both phones but I admit the iPhone 15 is a bit better. Only in low light the iPhone color balance is way off. When not moving around the S23 has great video, sharpness and colors. But moving it becomes a bit blurry.
This S23 Ultra owner agrees with all you say. Indeed you summarized things very well.
Use auto fps on settings and u will notice a great video ever on a samsung

GUYS THERES SO MANY MORE FEATURES BUT I NEED A BREAK😂🍿🍿I'll be back but take over in the comments for now with what i missed
Most of them are also on the iPhone but better. Only useful extra on the Samsung is the s-pen
@mauricedicke9527 iphone base model is 60hz, has a outdated USB c. Has a bigger cylinder pill on the top of the screen. Has bad battery according to many reviewers already who are concerned. Has overheating issues, doesn't do 8k video recording. Cannot turn into a Mac from the phone alone and nothing else. Does not have a fingerprint lock option. These are some of the biggest things I've mentioned and the base model alone is far behind from it and even the pro models. These are things that have been given on samsung for YEARS. PLURAL YEARS. And the iPhone is giving you a false reality
Fanboy alert🚨🚨🚨
@edgargalicia5071 fan boy is a reach. I'm just pointing out stuff that reviewers tend to miss most times or do go into detail with. I'd do the same for iphone but most of their features aren't exclusive or new in any way. But since you said, iphone has a 5x camera now, I messages is still good. Widgets are good. A17 chip is faster now. Yeah..
Between the 23Ultra and 15PM there is no wrong choice. Both are so close that there is no noticeable gap in camera performance unless held side by side and even then it’s debatable on both sides. You’ll get a great camera on both although id say the iPhone is slightly better at video while the ultra is slightly better at photos. It really comes down to if you’re a Samsung or Apple fanboy, as someone who fanboys over both ultimately I rarely take videos so the ultra is more suitable for me although I love the Apple Watch ultra to the moon and back
I think there is a noticeable difference at night but that is not something I do often so based on daytime video I would agree.
Samsung was almost always behind Apple in terms of video but with the s23 ultra they kind of caught up to the 14pro series. The 24 ultra will hopefully level the playing field.
In terms of photos, there never will be a clear winner as there are too many ways available to capture the same photo on the s23 ultra that making a vs video simply doesn't do it justice. The camera assistant app and the expert raw also plays a major role which most youtubers tend to neglect. In any case you achieve almost any photo you want if you use a tripod with any of these phones. The major difference maker is video and apple once again pulled ahead. Lets wait and see what the s24 ultra does.
I love the videos on the S23 Ultra, I just wish that the overall exposure was slightly lower on daytime. Of course, it's a personal preference, and locking the exposure or editing it slightly afterwards usually does the trick (or using the pro mode, obviously).
The feature I couldn't leave without, however, is the 8K: first, it allows you to zoom in the video after it has been shot (you can downscale it to 4K at any point, anyway), but also, it allows you to capture 33mp screenshots and make real photos out of them.
Extremely useful in some situations when you want to have the perfect timing for a photo.
Damn you done this i love it.this will make my decision clearer.❤
Brilliant video Danny! Any chance for a Pixel 7 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro video test?
I am not stupid to buy an iPhone at this price. I will change from iphon 11 to S23 ultra
S23 ultra is basically the same price as the iPhone lmao
@@alex-vs4hh Not the same price of iphone 15 pro max
@@user-oz1zr5rr7c well of course bc the 23 ultra came out like 7 months ago. It was pretty much the same price as the iphone on release
@@alex-vs4hh Depend on the country he's living, here in Brazil the iPhone 14 Plus is already the price of an S23 Ultra, there's a BIG difference between the two price-wise (sometimes the iPhone can cost as much as 2x the competition)
Eres estúpido en el momento que para justificar tu elección descalificas e insultas a los que han elegido el Iphone.
It's a pretty meaningful video as a s23 Ultra user. I'm very satisfied with the new 15 Pro Max because it's not much different. I'm really looking forward to the s24 Ultra. I enjoyed the video.
If you see deeply so many differences have between them
@@naughtytippy2683 Even if there is a big difference between the two, I don't think it's a problem in my usage environment.
Why are you Purchasing new Phones Every Year?😁
The only conclusion I have after watching this video is that night video is still pretty bad on both phones.
Very Good review
In general, the two good phones do not show big differences at night. I see that the iPhone does not handle the reflection of light from the spotlights on the lens.
Always include low light video and changes from light to dark. It's a very common real world scenario. Thanks!
No problem! Glad someone enjoyed it 🤣
I would prefer a bit less sharpness on Samsung. But as title says, yeah are pretty close in more scenarios! Thanks for your effort! 👏
Danny, the best camera comparison guy on the entirety of UA-cam..
💯💯
Thanks 🙏
Can you use picture style as white balance adjustment for both photo and video?
Great performance from both but i prefer the S23 ultra. I cannot deal with the overheating issues and the fragile glass body of the new iPhone 15 pro max
The S23 Ultra has a lot more problems. Overheating? In the tests I did personally, there were no problems with overheating.
@@dominic7012what problems? Please care to mention some

try s23 ultra with motion cam app = arri content 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great review. Apple is great for photography but being so close s23 ultra all the way due to multitasking capabilities and other areas of being a Smartphone that excels at other tasks especially multi-tasking. If Apple is 10 in camera the ultra is 8/9 so an allrounder with better value.
Do you have the tech skills to know what camera has more dynamic range and less noise?
when you upload the vids to your computer do you find either laggy? i was comparing 15 vs s21 and the 15 videos on the macbook were laggy and choppy!
You have the videos on high efficiency? Turn that setting off and you shouldn’t have that issue.
is that the heic format? which format is better quality though?@@dannywinget
How do you hold 2 phones at roller coaster? With grip? Not afraid they fly off if with just hand? Last time I handd hold my iPhone SE 1st gen and I can't keep lift it up because of the force!
It wasn’t that fast so easier to hold. Trust me I was gripping like that mutha…🤣
I have S22ultra & I m very happy with it, planning to upgrade to either 15pm or S24ultra.
Awesome comparison! But you should've done more 1080p footage at night instead of gojng 4K all the way. Realistically, how many people shoot at 4K all the time?
I think most people do honestly
Good comparison
One thing I have noticed is that on something's one will make the color a little darker while the other makes certain things slightly brighter and vice versa
Which software on Samsung one UI 5.1 OR 6 beta?
The lens flare is horrible in the iPhone, for a flagship that is. I can't stand it because it totally makes you forget about the colors, the detail because the flares are there, in your face!! Totally makes the video look like crap at night when there are light sources or in the day when sun is shining strong.
Waiting for the Pixel 8 Pro in 2 weeks to decide.
This is amazing to have video comparison only
Best at canera comparisons!
Now that's a video comparison.
Samsung really nailed it the stability rocked
It’s interesting, they’re great with some camera settings but struggle with others. Let’s nail this already!!
Fun fact: since the OneUI 6.0 update you can actually switch between 1x and 2x lossless zoom while recording in 4K60. In order to do so, you have to select 1x first, then pinch in to zoom. As soon as you hit 2x, the resolution clears up. You can even pinch in to 2x, start recording and pinch back to 1x while recording! You can`t achieve it regularily by selecting 2x lens.
Pretty close. And since I prefer the Galaxy over all that's a good thing.
Not really
@@edgargalicia5071Fanboy alert🚨🚨🚨
Please turn on pro mode on s23 ultra and get impressive night mode video
accept the trush bro, don't make any excuses
@@rxizl I think you just missed his point. Using the pro mode provides advantages during day and night that you can't compensate with the iPhone. That is a simple fact.
@@arvandvarahram I can use many pro apps on the iPhone that kill night video, so if we started testing using different modes and apps, it would need a 10-hour video. That is why reviews are on default settings. If pro mode on S23U is so good, why doesn't Samsung tweak those settings so all its users benefit on auto? It is Samsung's fault, not the reviewer.
@@andyH_England You are missing the point, too. With the Pro Apps you lose all software tweaks of the standard app. You can't compare them to the Pro Mode embedded in the actual app. The second part of your comment is really funny: the Pro Mode offers manual options according your needs and preferences. This contradicts the auto mode🤣
I was all set to purchase the iPhone 15 Pro. I've never had an Apple phone but all my friends say they were the best over anything Samsung. Now I'm not so sure! There were good and bad point between both phones...so now it's going to be really hard to choose. Do either of the Brands (apple or Samsung) put out new updates that might fix some of the issues they both had?
I appreciate your assistance.
I have the s23 ultra. But from what i see here the iphone 15 pro max is clearly better. I was planning to get them both, buth the iphone 15 has burn in screens / cracking speakers / dust sand behind the camera lens / titanium discolorization, it has so many problems i will wait for iphone 16. I prefer video over photos so then i just need to go for an iphone.
10x on both phones seems to be the limit, anything above that is pretty much unusable quality wise. Even 10x is pretty much pushing it.
The video showed 10x at night, which means the phone decided to crop from the main sensor. The 10x lens on the S23 is _very_ usable in daylight, but not at night. I'd say it produces Instagram-worthy images (read: small resolution for small screens, but usable) at up to 30x.
@@bLaffix but you can change that by not allowing auto change lenses, so you will have a better video or photo but darker ( try out in camera assistant )
Finally tests at 4K 60FPS. Never understood the 30 FPS tests.
It's pretty close whereas in some other youtubers videos iPhone was leagues ahead!
Thanks for this honest review

Which do YOU recommend based on your professional experience is best for social media production?
Cos I thought 200mp would be better than 48mp! But clearly I have no idea! 🤷🏻♀️
If you are doing mostly video and want to upload to social media from your phone get the iPhone. The upload quality is higher and it’s better for social media overall. When it comes to things outside of social media there are pros and cons of both.

I think by comparison of both the phones one thing is for sure that Apple has given new life to one year old Samsung S23 ultra.
Aside from the noise in black sky, i actually prefered S23Us videos and color science
I have never used iOS. But I am planning to get S23 Ultra or 15 Plus? Video and Battery- are my core priority, please help!
iPhone seems to clearly have the best quality.
no question about it, the best ever

Please do a S23 ultra and Pixel 8 Pro camera test when the time comes.
Thanks danny your the best man
I prefer S23ultra colours profile at night over iPhone it's true better than Samsung in noise but I much prefer the colours it's darker and warmer near to realistic.
Other than appearnt noise on the Samsung i kinda like the colour science.
That clearty on the digital zoom by iphone though... Samsung need to increase aperture of periscope lens...
Hopefully the s24 ultra fixes low light video and improves the night mode
The iPhone went from green chat bubbles to green dots in video.
Proof that Apple is a granny smith
the cameras of both smartphones are good.. there's nothing wrong with buying one of them, but I chose the Samsung s23 ultra, what about you?
Same here
They keep pushing each other and ultimately that is great for consumers.
The Green dots is a feature...

It’s pretty impressive to see that the iPhone’s 10x digital zoom is nearly identical to the S23’s 10x optical zoom.
Right that surprised the mess out of me. Unbelievable actually.
I'm not TOO surprised, because Apple's 5x lens is better quality than Samsung's 10x lens, which at this point is I'm pretty sure the same one since the S21 Ultra.
