Awesome, thanks so much for sharing. Very important points, such as 'socialization'..... And on the flipside of that,,, teaching our children Compassion & Empathy for animals is invaluable.... and sadly, all kids don't get that exposure. I read this the other day~ Teaching children to respect animals helps them learn to respect people - others and themselves. By tuning in to an animal's feelings of wanting attention, love, food, companionship and respect, a child can grow up into a caring adult who can more intuitively tune in to other people's feelings as well.
I could not agree more with that! So well said! And when I think about the people I am closest to, all of them are animal people. The ones I have had the most strife with are those who really don't connect with animals. Interesting.
Hi Carol - Congratulations! You are one of the winners of the Porter & Midge Bundle! If you can email me your address where you would like them shipped, that would be great! stephanie@bigdogmom.com.
This book and the companion material sounds perfect for prizes. We always have a scavenger hunt for the kids at our Kennel Club dog show in September. I am always on the look out for dog themed books games and activities to give as prizes.

I'm not clear on your first question, so help me understand. And as for the second question, I haven't seen any ads like this, but my guess is perhaps they are referring to some dogs, rather than all dogs. ??? I'm not sure. Most dogs I know love children and when both kids and dogs are raised in a mutually respectful environment with ample supervision, it can be a match made in heaven.
Puppy socialization is so important, glad this book was written to help kids and parents help a puppy to become part of the family.

I agree! These books would make a terrific prize for kids in a dog-related event for sure!

dogs approach kids and attack them. No? Yes?
And why adoption ads say dogs prefer homes without children?
