I forgot to edit out the gap when I dropped my pick. ;)

I really enjoyed this series. I have a 59 Vibrolux 5f11. It's an amazing amp. Great to see you restore/repair it. Mine could use some safety updates/restoration. You have me thinking. Thanks for the videos!

It sounds great into that 2X12” cab. The single P10R/Q can sound good by itself, but it’s not my preference.

My first electronics instructor in the USAF had a great technical explanation of gain in an amplifier- it makes big stuff out of little stuff

What a great sounding amp, I love the tweed tone. The Trem is amazing!

Great series of videos on this Vibrolux repair. Why is the Tung Sol reissue 12AX7 bad for a cathode follower tone circuit? Thanks.

"Overdrive" and "Distortion" and "Compression" is the result of gain when the circuit no longer has enough headroom in either the voltage or current of the power supply, or limitations of the tube, speaker or transformers necessary to prevent clipping and/or starvation. Crossover distortion of course is something else entirely. No amp is ever completely clean or linear, and is actually quite distorted and compressed measurement wise, but the human ear finds this pleasing. Phase distortion is another beast entirely as well, and part of the "magic" of tubes.

Can't most of the nasties from the cathodyne be cured with a fat grid stopper?

The owner should invest in a 2x12 cab of their very own....

People typically buy old amps for the sound of an old amp as a whole.
