I both like and dislike this version but of Freeze the origin is cool but removing Nora from the equation of his backstory just makes him unrelatable and for me less interesting
Personally think this freeze was a result of lazy writing cause his story is so rich it ties up his demeanor, his actions, his moral compass, it brings all the things that make you want to help Mr freeze even tho he’s a villain

People seemed to have forgotten, Batman TAS is the series that gave Freeze is tragic backstory. Before that he was just another villian. The Batman just had him "return to form". Its just that the comic eventually adopted the Bayman TAS Freeze, and rightfully so.
They just did the thing he was before. Remember, the previous series (BTAS) invented Nora, before that, Dr. Freeze was just a cold guy with an ice gun. Despite having Batman and Robin adopting the Nora concept, it wasn't popular yet to be officially included in the character backstory. Think of it as they adapted the original character, not his later interpretation.
You could say, The most “coldest” version. ( I do not regret my joke. But yeah, he could have had a better backstory. A simple bank robber is pretty… dumb for the writers.)

The version of Freeze who appears in this show may not be sympathetic, but he's no less true to the character's roots. I guess that's the thing, when one version of a character becomes too popular, it overshadows all other versions, and people start demanding that every Mister Freeze have the exact same motivation, and character arc, and stories told.

That’s pretty cool. It’s like a different variation of the tried-and-true “fell into a vat of acid” backstory, but a bit more creative. I also like that Freeze is thankful for being created. I wouldn’t have minded this backstory for another villain, but it’s nice to have a different take on an existing one.

Therefor, he, he kept her in a cryochamber and began robbing banks to raise funds for her treatment. He knew that she would not last forever in those chambers, and knew that if Batman caught up with him he would never see his wife again, and so sought to end his life the way hers would end. A handful of overzealous police officers attempted to open the chamber Frieze was in, messed up somehow, Batman had to minimize the damage and didn’t know about Nora. But what are your thoughts?

Yes. I only can assume they changed him to a cat burglar from a Doctor because they thought making him a "Mad Scientist" would be chessy. They might have felt it was a Trope. It was a bad decision. I didn't like the way they designed Joker and Clayface in this series as well.
