That DNA alteration is most likely what led to Terry's parents eventually divorcing. Warren must've suspected Mary was cheating on him when he noticed Terry didn't resemble him, and those suspicions had to have grown stronger when Matt was born. It's a shame Warren died never knowing what really happened.
Mind blown
I remember reading a comment about Terry dad must have thought his wife was cheating obviously his kids don't look like him but he still helped them out truth be told warren was his father bruce was more like a father figure dispite him being his biological dad.
Makes perfect sense actually.
the nanotech solution which overwrote warren mcginnis' dna with bruce wayne's dna happened 2 years ago. terry was born last year. And bruce retired as batman 5 years ago. bruce wayne is 65 years old in 2024

"Project Batman Beyond" She said the thing!
I get it it's like Project Shadow.
Still one of the wildest reveals. The biggest surprise to me was Amanda Waller being conscious of her own actions. In her younger years she was cutthroat and didn’t care who she stepped on.
Her turning more religious and recognizing her own hypocrisy makes it more funny.
Yeah with old age comes clarity for many,at least Waller had time to think about what she done.
Time is a good teacher.
"You dont quite have his magnificent brain" - I disagree, Waller forgets Bruce spent years travelling the globe learning from multiple masters. Terry just had Bruce and still went on to defeat The Joker.
She meant his genius.
I always thought that line was there just to put Bruce "over". Batman, Bruce Wayne, is always their #1 earner. He has to always "win".
I’m pretty sure Batman’s fluid intelligence is still better than terry even during his age when he started vs this scene
It’s a good thing Terry’s parents didn’t get assassinated, cause he didn’t have an good people that would look after him like Bruce had Alfred meaning he would’ve most likely turned into a villain. Now imagine that, batman but a villain
Batman who laugh
Owlman
Wrath
Nemesis (he’s a nasty one)
This is probably the Amanda Waller I like most. On one hand, I actually enjoy Waller as an antagonist, a representation of the US government and their fear of not only the JL but super-powered beings in general. Waller represents that fear as well as the ruthless drive to control those they can and sabotage, exploit, or even get rid of those they cannot.
On the other, I like when Waller can find common ground with heroes and acknowledge that, despite her own misgivings and the flaws heroes still have, there are in fact people out there who want to do good and help, whether they're super or not.
It's why this Waller admired Bruce Wayne so much. Despite being surrounded by superpowered beings, like Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, etc., Batman stood equally among them, sometimes even greater, all through his wits, body, and will as she eloquently put it. That a man could muster these simple yet profound merits and rise to become one of the greatest heroes ever w/o the need for superhuman abilities, and despite all the darkness and horrors Batman has faced and vanquished he has always stood by his code and never crossed the line despite the temptation to do so, even in instances where it could have been justified.
It's why Andrea Beaumont ultimately refused to pull the trigger... becuz she knew and understood the man she had loved a long time ago and refused to dishonor everything the Dark Knight stood for... and Amanda likewise understood that she was right.
She'd played God with an innocent child out of a misplaced notion that she could create a new Batman becuz she couldn't accept the world without one. Terry's dad was murdered anyway, and tho the pain and trauma of losing him spurred him towards vengeance he himself came to understand he had to honor the man who had raised him by acting in the name of justice.
So yes, Terry's fate led him to becoming Batman after all, but he still made the choice to become the new Batman. No one forced him to do it; Terry found a calling and honored the legacy he had unknowingly been born to as well as both of his fathers. Warren might not have been Terry's biological father (throo no fault of his or Mary's) but he was Terry's father in all the ways that mattered. I've no doubts that he would have been proud of Terry, blood relation or not
1:20:
Amanda: Bruce's DNA was easy enough to obtain. He left it all over town.😏
Terry:🤨🤔
Amanda: Not remotely what I meant!😡😤
Terry:😮💨🙂↔️
Me:🤭😂
😒Oh brother
DC vs Disney moment 😂
Kevin’s Batman was always the best he was more human than the rest 🦇❤
Batman Beyond 2: Neo Gotham Forever to honor our late Kevin Conroy age 66
WB/DC, yall got a bunch of money. Make more of this batman beyond stuff.
Disney did it with xmen 97.
Sony did it with two spider-verse movies with a teenage spider man.
Batman beyond is a FUTURISTIC BATMAN.
It’s been pitched. Multiple times. WB execs keep shooting it down, live action & animated like Spiderverse. The storyboard art leaked earlier this year.
@@Bman32x They're so stupid, when this show came out we were little kids with no money. Now that we're all adults who have to work and SPEND money, they won't make the movie? Such backwards business sense.
Why not justice league beyond?
@@IccyTheOne To most people Bruce Wayne is Batman and Batman Beyond is nothing more than a failed show from the 2000s.
The MCU's current struggles with legacy heroes probably isn't helping.
At most we'd probably get another direct to VOD like Return of The Joker.
Can't Lie is was so freaking cool for the Mask Phantom return
And for her to have grown to respect Bruce’s no-killing rule.
@@Thepopcornator and a good ending for her as a movie character.
*Phantasm
Man they did Terrys Dad dirty af.
They didn’t exactly do him dirty they just added a little something to a mix
They cucked him through technology.
if Warren was still alive in 2054, Terry would've said to him: "You used to be my father. You're my ex-father, just like people have ex-girlfriends, you're my ex-father."
Like how Amanda quotes the Bible
Deus Vult
Not remotely what I meant hahah she clearly knew what I was thinking
Andrea Beaumont, just couldn't pull the trigger... sorta speak. Should've hired Deathstroke.
Not entirely sure on timelines for things like that but if I'm not mistaken by that point Deathstroke "retired" he was already old as dirt when Bruce and the like were the main focus and at some point he "quit" if I recall.
I could be wrong but I don't think that's a viable option. He was either dead or done by then. There are other options, sure. But that messes up the story
@veloxdrake1025 the actual reason he wasn’t there was because of the embargo which prevented too many versions of a character to show up. Deathstroke was in the Teen Titans series so JL/JLU couldn’t use him.
@@azuresaiyan9005 well again, speaking time wise Deathstroke was already in his 50s when Bruce was 30-ish and by this point Bruce was a 90 year old corpse so call him...
Original Deathstroke would have been dead from natural causes by this point.
_life, the end_
That would just turn him into the Green Arrow
It was wonderful to see Andrea again. Out of all of Bruce's love interest in the DCAU, she was always my favorite, next to Wonder Woman, of course.
One of my favorite episodes from Justice League Unlimited. And it’s nice to see Amanda Waller being a nice person for once.
Guess being older makes you wiser.
This was a best episode.👍👍👍
not many people realize including me about one of the Bible verses I would've liked to remember which one it is it was a great episode
Waller's words to Terry have a deeper meaning then most realize despite their simplicity or how chliche they may souns! The way she advises Terry on his life, about the similarities and differences between him and Bruce, just wow, she played her role as grandmother to Terry outstandilgy well!
Waller: When you're making a Batman, genetics is only part of the story. The rest is tragedy.
So, how about the vast financial resources needed for all of his stuff? That was pretty important too.
This was the plot of the movie The Boys From Brazil.
Amanda Waller is a piece of work
Sometimes, I suspect there is more to the story. Terry bears a resemblance to Wonder Woman. Perhaps Waller did the same with Ms McGuinness' DNA.
Waller said it herself, that only the paternal DNA was altered, thus the resulting child was the genetic son of Mary McGuinness and Bruce Wayne
Terry also resembles a young Bruce Wayne
Great Episode.
Good stuff
Beautiful
Originally it was catwoman who rewrote terrys genes, and thats why if you watch batman beyond terrys fighting style is more catwoman esque
Even if Waller didn’t override warrens dna the result would still be the same. Terry was destined to be the new Batman when he met Bruce Wayne and got taken under his wing. Waller was also forgetting another important aspect of Batman. The 💵💵💰💰 part. Batman was a billionaire who could afford the equipmwnt needed for his war on crime. Terry didn’t. And he still wouldn’t if he was left an orphan.
It seemed that, logically speaking, the next step of Waller's plan would be to bankroll Terry to complete her Batman replication. Except Masked Phantasm abandoning the prior step of the plan out of sheer disgust caused that step to never be reached, so Waller's monetary aspect of the plan never came to fruition. Ironically, the original Batman would fulfill that part way later anyways.
Even if she did bankroll, Terry, there’s no guarantee Terry would take up the mantle of Batman. Consider the years of training studying and all the travels Bruce went through before he finally became Batman. Would Terry honestly go through all of that?
Terry McGinnis became the Batman after Bruce Wayne retired
Bruce Timm, Dwayne Mcduffie and Paul Dini were tremendous producing, writing and directing Justice League...
It's incredible that after so long Andrea Beaumont , Bruce's love interest, has returned 💜
Great scene
Take care of the people who love you. Or don’t. It’s your choice.
I really loved that they gave terry his deserved ending ❤
Cool origin story ever
Amanda Waller & Bruce “Batman” Wayne are awesome.
2:12 Even in the future everything remakes!
I miss THEM DAYS❤
1:28-1:31 💀💀💀💯 classic
This episode isn´t canon. It was an attempt to unite both series. And in the comic books was the same. Batman Beyond was only intended to be a cartoon hit, not a comic series and I like it that way because it makes simple to enjoy the character.
Believe what you will, but Justice league unlimited was made by many of the same people as Batman Beyond. It’s just as canon to the dcau as any btas episode.
@@unny8877 Jajajajaa, you're so weak
@@brunoarmandodelacruzchuzev9632 in *this episode*, nightwing's suit in shown in the batcave, who appeared in the new batman adventures, a direct continuation of batman the animated series. all three cartoons had bruce timm credited as creator and/or developers.
it's canon bruno. You can dislike it, but you can't say it's not canon.
The batman beyond comics aren't canon though, that much is true.
0:32: Sounding like Two-Face there.
0:52: Basically "Rebirth: Parts I and II", set in what may be the DCAU's 2019.
I swear, 1:22-1:32 was actually censored/removed in certain regions where the show premiered.
In hindsight, Terry's younger brother Matt should also be a factor during the Project. Heck, in the alternate universe Batman Beyond 2.0 comics, he becomes Robin Beyond.
Oh, yeah, and this ep oozes "NANOMACHINES, SON!!!" in its concept.
2:11: As said by one Simon Trent: "So it wasn't all for nothing..."
Quite a serendipitous mistake, hiring Andrea Beaumont/the Phantasm, the woman who once loved the man who would become the Bat.
By the way, her look here resembles the one used in the short-lived Batman Adventures 2003 tie-in comics.
2:52 seems relevant, due to Multiverse Theory in Watsonian terms, and certain fans' and writers' perceptions in Doylist terms.
3:09: Can't help it, for Terry's father Warren was a good man. (Funnily enough, the father of Derek Powers/Blight, the one who ordered the hit on Mr. McGinnis, is also named Warren, AND he was actually married to Andrea Beaumont's mother Victoria, who changed her identity, became a Red Hood, and thus birthed Derek... at least, according to cut short plans for Batman Adventures 2003 by Ty Templeton).
3:19: Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate might feel that.
3:21-3:53: I really miss this in current family cartoons like The Owl House and Steven Universe, the necessary talk about the Abrahamic God and the faiths surrounding Him. Makes for some positive religious pundits while making for some "character substance" to any fictional setting, for lack of a better term or two.
4:27 sounds like a Spider-Man moral, but it sure neatly fits DC Animated works like the DCAU, Teen Titans/The Batman 2004 (am of the opinion that they're set in the same universe), and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Anyways, as an aside, I wonder if X-Men '97 borrowed certain plot threads from this and the other last four Season 2 eps of JLU (in short, "Question Authority" to "Divided We Fall"). Really, Bastion's origins actually being based on the preceding X-Men: The Animated Series' Season 4 two-parter "One Man's Worth" brings forth a similar vibe in terms of mind blowing retcons and rewatch bonuses.
After watching this…only song comes to mind. “Am I blue?”
Dc💙
This great and all...but when are we going to get some contemporary Batman Beyond media DC?
The End of an Era.
Always wondered is Terry Damien's half brother?
Yes, and Matt McGinnis is too
A good question would be what’s Damian up to??
Yes
Very rewarding to wait this long to reuse a character
"You do have his heart though" show forgets bruce hung up the mantle because of his severe and highly weakened heart. 😅
Will Frieddle returns in Crisis of Infinite Earths.
this is Why Terry mcginnis will always be better then damian wayne, batman beyond was soo good
I’d like to pretend this revelation didn’t happen. I’m not a fan of the whole character being thrusted into something more due to essentially being part of a dynasty,
It was already foreshadowed in the series. This makes a good conclusion.
Didn’t you pay attention they actually subverted that
@@ShoppingBored don't twist it to yoyr tsstes.
@@androognoix1685 how was it subverted? Do you mean how Terry’s Dad wound up murdered anyway and he met Bruce regardless?
3:01 Youre assassin was Barbra ????!!
She looks like Barbara from Beyond but that's actually Andrea Beaumont; she was in Mask of the Phantasm from during the original animated series run.
@@Richie_Godsil ohhhh
Had more than just Cadmus connections.
Was able to hire Andrea Beaumont.
Amanda Waller always has a backup plan.
Always thought this was unnecessary.
Terry half Bruce Wayne and half Batman genetics
What bugs me about this is that it wouldn't work. Bruce had the highly trained alfred, he was influenced by zorro and the grey mask? Whatever animated did. And it was his decision to learn everything the world had to teach him. Terry has NONE of this.
She was never going to succeed. Gothom itself however...did.
It's called " agency" .
Wouldn't this also mean Terry's brother is also part Bruce
Certainly not the Amanda of the comics
👍
How about Alfred
more live action he man in the new dc the dcu today now yes are no 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
This episode really ruined the show.
Batman Beyond was not everyone's cup of tea and this episode really tried to make up some new origin for Terry to force him to be more legit.
Not sure if it's Bruce TImm's idea but he really tries hard to force his ideals down peoples throat. Like the Batman/Batgirl romance....
DC before it became bad.
This makes Terry Bruce’s 3rd Son
2nd*
Bruce's third son is Matt McGinnis. Bruce's first son - obviously Damian Wayne
THIS Batman's story should be continued in an animated series. Minus the current woke trend of course.
Utdtd7uudt
Ksbdksnsm
Wow so his origin story was all based on Amanda Waller
I'm going to pretend this episode doesn't exist. I don't care if it was foreshadowed, I just fundamentally disagree with the idea that Terry has to of Wayne stock to be Batman.
Well it’s canon in comics too so if you want to say it’s not canon then all of Batman beyond isn’t canon to you cuz this been a thing since the comics and he has met all his brothers
@@kingjoker8399 Yeah, don't care it still sucks
@@kingjoker8399 It literally is not canon to the comics. At least not the mainline. This is only canon to the DCAU.
@@senittoaoflightning4404it very much is canon to the comics lol, to both the Earth-12 timeline(DCAU Comic Timeline), and the Future’s End timeline(which is set in Earth Prime)
@@jimbenzo Futures End is not canon. If it was so is Future State. Or the Trinity timeline.
They are called "Possible" Futures for a reason.
Due to several events (I.e. characters like Deathstroke being dead, many new characters, it being set in the future of The New 52, rather than Rebirth, Brother Eye being developed by Cadmus and Batman, rather than Mr Terrific and Batman, etc) happening that future is no longer possible as too many changes have occured.
Earth 12 is the DCAU timeline. Like I said, that's the only timeline it's canon to.
WE WANT GAL GADOT BACK FOR WONDER WOMAN 3N
This is such a complete insult to the Batman Beyond story.
How funny that they invented it, insulting your own story?
This is so stupid.
Why
You can't explain it can you
So the live action super hero movies are dead then. Well it was expected after they tried to compete and launch the justice league around the same to close enough time as avengers movies. They already losttrack of the story writing. Stick to cartoons until someone can do better. This story before was fine with me but I knew they were gonna end before getting to the end
