I love this channel *because* you focus on casual YGO. My local shop isn't a Konami shop and the scene there is way more casual and always has people playing a deck they just have fun with even if they are not highly competitive. It's a great way to play.
You've basically explained exactly why your channel appeals to me so much - you're a bunch of friends playing Yu-Gi-Oh in an accessible way that I can still keep up with and enjoy. I would love to get back into modern Yu-Gi-Oh, and I'm sure it's really fun watching all the different ways to build and break boards, comboing, etc., but the duels you and the team produce are just so fun to watch. Thank you for making content for a filthy casual like me haha!
You know what... I think calling the format now modern Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't feel quite right... like in this few years I feel like yugioh evolving, like we don't get new mechanic anymore the game become super fast like even faster it's ridiculous. I don't think we're in a new "Era" yet, but we're getting there if konami keep releasing new cards. Then again I maybe just saying dumb stuff, but at least to me that Yugioh feel different now than it was like 5-6 years ago.
The metas these days go so fast and games tends to look so much alike and being very long combos. I like to watch it go but npt to play it. I don't wamt to go back to Monster Duels or GX era either but I like a middle line. It's fun to combo a bit but still having a short but satisfying turn. I maybe bias because I'm more a Magic the gathering player where you manage your ressources a bit more and I like that kind of thing but it's my take on it. Also, I stopped watching the anime at Synchro era and stopped playing at XYZ so maybe the games were a bit more interractive when I was playing with friends during these eras. Anyway, I dont like TO PLAY present Yu-Gi-Oh but like to watch it. I also like to watch older formats.
I love the more casual apporach you guys have to content! Not only the retro duels, but the fun deckbuilding challenges, structure and theme decks and the random bulk shenanigans, they are a great example of the stuff I love about the game. Because of your speed duel house tournaments I got into speed duel format and built fun theme decks to play with my friends!
Keep the old school yugioh, own this space! Other channels can provide the competitive side, but this is your guys' niche and why youre the only yugitubers i subscribe to
To be fair, there is Dark Armed Duelist, but he's more about opening sets and deck profiles. At least the deck profiles are of casual decks a majority of the time.
I think part of the appeal of team APS comes from the fact that each member has a different appeal like from Paul being the more business oriented person and Alec being a casual to trell being the competitive player with a big heart of gold. Even if the team doesn't do real competitive duels, every fans has one member that they can relate to
As someone who has never played in a competitive setting, one of my favorite things about this channel is that you can still have fun playing casually with friends. At the end of the day, it’s a game. It’s nice to see you guys not take it too seriously and just have fun!
I will say that for most part I appreciate all the casual content you guys bring to the table, I especially liked the rare hunters format you guys did. I know old school packs now are expensive so the fact that your willing to spend on expensive retro boxes for fun content just shows your overall love for the game, and that you appreciate the people that view and support your channel.
I love TeamAPS as a channel BECAUSE there’s no competitive content. I haven’t played YGO since I was a kid, but I love watching the videos especially Rare Hunters because of the nostalgia. Like when Alec started using his Pyro-burn deck, it reminded me of the fire structure deck that I used to LOVE as a kid
Also the best part of your channel is that it’s real life friends dueling, that have known each other since they were little, that’s what is so appealing! Casual or competitive, we just love you guys!!
Y’all are my favorite channel on UA-cam. Really brings me back to the good ol days of 2009 Yugioh. I wish I had a group of friends in person or over the internet to play casually with. I play Master Duel but it gets so sweaty. I just wanna play my Crystal Beasts and Cloudians!
I think most people come to yall are trying to relive a lot of old school yugioh memories, you make good points about "if you want to experience the competitive side, go watch PAK or Jesse Kotton". Keep doing what you're doing, it's great! That being said, I would love to see you guys tinker around more with draft formats, limited play is pretty big in yugitubing right now and I think with rare hunters you have a good thing going, but might be worth getting the aps crew together for cube draft or something like that, would be good to play around with limited a bit more.
Hard time wording this. But basically, the reason I am watching is exactly because of the way you have been doing things. The casual approach, the fun ways of explaining card effects and on goings of the duell. And of course the best yugioh series on youtube. The Raaaare Hunters. ABSOLUTELY loved every single second of that. Keep going, keep improving and keep having fun! Love from Germany
you guys are dope, this channel is dope. the balance in the Yugi-verse. You made it easy for me and my brother to pick up Yugioh this year and have fun doing it. as a newbie casual, thank you!
The casualness of this channel is what makes it fun for me. There are plenty of channels for tournament's and hardcore play. Friend play is also good and its good to have a channel like this that shows that.
I completely agree with what you said here. I love the content you guys create, the characters, the expressiveness, the casual and fun environment is the whole reason I enjoy watching you. The more complex competitive side of yugioh is interesting and all, but I don't find myself turning back to watch that repeatedly, yet I always look forward to a new upload from you guys. You, the faces behind the cards, are much more of a draw to me (and I would venture to say most viewers) than the cards themselves.
Can I say, you guys are so much fun to watch. Honestly no explanation was necessary. I love that you guys meld the anime into real life with your duels!
I agree with what I see others saying. Focus on your niche, I love the channel for it and have been a long time viewer even though I never got around to ACTUALLY playing games of yugioh until recently. I'd love to see in-depth breakdowns of decks and their themes and main interactions from you guys as you've gotten quite good at explaining to newbies. I would even like this for the structure decks and maybe simple structure deck x 3 profiles. As thats been my main focus this month trying to learn.
Having a channel that's more casual period is really rare these days. It's always "optimal or most competitive stuff" and not about just messing around and hanging out with people, so this channel is really great for that. Plus it's closer to how we played as kids back in the day so you get that little warm fuzzy feeling of "ah yeah I remember the simpler times"
I adore this channel as it is. Be you, not the competition, this channel is super entertaining, especially the rare hunter stuff. You guys are literally my favorite yugitubers
Theres other channels to watch meta content. This channel is fun because it's not only content that's more fun and easy to follow but also inspirational to try the fun things you guys do with our own friends. Also not playing meta cards and staples makes the content more attainable (outside or rare hunters). Speaking of Rare Hunters though it allows us to experience the classic yugioh strategies in a physical form that is not really possible outside of watching that series.
You guys are all awesome. Your content is that middle ground of introducing new Yu-Gi-Oh (not competitive) and keeping it fun with older decks (keeping it real for Yugi-boomers). You all have wonderful videos; other than you guys I only really watch thecalieffect for more "meta"/deck analysis and yuginovanexus for lore. You all just keep it light and remind me of my childhood playing decks against my brother.
This channel plus the release of Master Duel really helped me get back into the franchise, even when I thought it seemed overwhelming. Love what you guys do
It's nice to hear you two's thoughts on this subject, personally I really prefer the more casual and retro Yugioh duel content you provide! My fav content of yours will always be the deck building challenges with random lots or the resealed Target/Walmart product, cause watching players try to build the best decks possible out of a big pile of random af cards is such a fun and nostalgic experience of playing Yugioh when we were kids!
The theme duels / series are super enjoyable and the challenge duels were a great idea and really fun to watch too. Honestly I love Team APS content for your lack of "meta" or "competitive" content and more for your creative duel ideas.
This video gave me an interesting series you could try. A series where you match up the visas starfrost lore decks vs the fallen of albaz lore decks, where like the fusion decks branded and tear would be matched up, matching them up by what extra deck monsters they go into. These decks wouldn’t be like their meta lists, as you can only use cards from their own lore in this challenge. Just an idea, thank you for reading this!
Definitely like the content. I would like to see modern theme duels like hero vs dark magician and maybe even your personal casual decks. really yall have created such a good and enjoyable niche for yourselves. This is coming from someone who enjoys competitive yugioh, and I'm also glad there's people in the community making the content and duels yall do. Also, I would love to see vaylantz that deck is so fun
A good way to play meta decks with the fun element, as well the not expiration date mark would be to make battles that you use lore decks. For example use Crusadia vs Mekk-Knights, Swordsoul vs Tri-Brigade, but the catch is you can only use lore cards, not a single tech card that isn't related to the archetype or doesn't mention that archetype specifically (example being Spright Smashers. It can be played into Spright, Springans and Therions.)
The way you guys present Yu-Gi-Oh is so much different than others, and it's part of why I enjoy watching your videos. You provide a unique insight to the game and a niche that a lot of others don't necessarily have. There are plenty of other channels out there to cover the competitive side of the game, so you guys just keep doing what you're doing.
Just wanna say that as a casual player who can only play so often, I think this channel puts out wonderful content. And it's not just that, but the fun you guys seem to have with every duel definitely comes through. I hope you stick with the content you've been putting out, because it's all been fantastic in the past few months that I've been following y'all!
The one thing I like about you guys is the fact that yall kind of remind of how the actual characters in the anime would play the game, if they existed IRL (and actually followed the rules). The way you explain the cards when you duel, the interactions between the players (though yall do a less shit talking, but that’s all good cause it’s friendly), and just the energy behind it. Also Paul always calling his opponent “duelist” is a nice touch. You don’t always need holographic monsters to make a card game interesting. Personality goes a long way. Also please do a modern Dark Magician vs Modern Heroes (and throw a modern Blue Eyes Deck in too). That’d be a lot of fun to see what Yugi, Jaden, Kaiba, etc could potentially duel with if their respective shows came out today with today’s current game.
Ive always felt you guys hit a really good balance, your content is good for old heads/casual side but is relevant enough for people in-between casual and competitive as well
I love the content you guys make. It’s super relaxing and relatable. I’m a filthy casual, so the 9 hour long combos get old really quick. You guys bring me back to my school days when me and my friends would have some duels a lunch. Like the rare hunter series is god tier entertainment.
What I really like on your guys channel is the friendship that sparkle on the screen honestly, the deep laughs and conversations that you have together is what I really dig on that channel even more than the actual yugioh stuff x) keep up the good work c:
You guys got me back into yugioh after having a 20 year break so firstly thank you. I honestly can't watch tournaments on twitch as I have no idea what's going on but can follow your games. I have accepted this is the new way yugioh is played and trying to catch up after being gone for so long through master duel before I think about tournaments. If I can convince my friends to dust off their decks we could probably have some fun nights. This channel is fun which new yugioh sometimes lacks with being so complex so it's nice to just watch laid back duels with friends having fun. Keep up the good work and continue doing what makes you guys happy.
I 100% love when you read and explain the cards. You guys are so good about it that I can watch it without looking at the screen and I still enjoy it. : )
1. Dice 2. Coin Flip 3. Effects that affect the duelist instead of the cards/field (Hand size, discard to declare an attack, etc.) 4. No secrets (deck specifically designed to expose your opponents strategy 5. Token Deck! 6. Decks based only on Attribute OR Type I'll keep cooking.. but that's what I got so far.
I tried to get back into yugioh a little over a year and bounced off it but that was how i found you guys. I have a lot of nostalgia for the old yugioh and this is the only channel that has really captured the old joy of ripping random packs with friends, throwing together a pile of cards with minor synergy at best and seeing what happens. I'd probably try to watch a competitive yugioh video or two if you did some but i doubt i'd be able to follow it.
7:02 Playing Yu-Gi-Oh! on stream/camera is like the first time you play against an opponent at locals. Nerves kick in, or sometimes anxiety kicks in. You’re more prone to mistakes
I know I've commented asking to see that type of content (maybe more than once), and this vid really made me think about why. The whole channel has this relaxed, friendly approach to the game. I didn't even start playing until after watching your stuff. The way you guys present different archetypes and summarize what some of the key cards for whatever your playing is just enough to get the impression of what the decks want to do while leaving plenty of surprises to be demonstrated in gameplay. *If* I wanted to see meta level yu-gi-oh, I actually wouldn't want a serious in-depth lesson on it, it's how I imagined you guys would make it fun that had me curious. That said, I like the showcases of structure decks and other theme duels, been loving Rare Hunters, and at the end of the day, I'm not here to learn Yu-Gi-Oh, I'm here to learn what's fun about it. And that's what you guys do best. Between all the balancing acts behind the scenes, you guys are nailing it! Keep being you and having fun, that's the only content we need
I honestly really appreciate you guys for taking a more casual take on Yu-Gi-Oh and making it entertaining. You guys play the game the same way I and my friends enjoy to play it as well. Like you guys said in the video, there are many channels out there that cover the competitive side of Yu-Gi-Oh. Every channel has their own niche, and I think you guys fit yours extremely well.
I am very happy with your content. Larry in the hole ,calvin attempting to summon hard cards, retro decks, house tournaments, watching alex get into character, they're all awesome entertaining binge worthy content. I sit in my home by myself 24/7 except when i go to drill for the national guard so watching you guys brings comfort joy and nostalgia to my life and im very greatful for it. You guys are extremely good duelists and its an honor to watch. Thank you
I fall into both groups. I love the content on this channel, I also watch competitive. But this is what I call my yugioh safe haven. You guys and cimmoooo are my chill list. Please only change for the better and have lots of subs and views. Best wishes
I think the reason I like to watch your videos is the fact you don't take yourselves too seriously when it come to the duels. You're enjoying yourselves and I can feel it. While when I go to play Yugioh with some friends who are very competitive, they always mock me for making "dumb mistakes", "missing the timing for a counter" or "Your best move is just one extra Deck monster that doesn't even control the board ?!" I play a Madolche deck where I was kinda forced to add some handtraps to be able to survive more than one turn in my local "metagame", and when they tell me "You should add [That card] or [this card] and you will be more competitive", I'm like "But I wanna enjoy myself playing I deck I like.". So yeah, watching you guys is very entertaining for me. You don't force yourselves, you enjoy what you do. This is the best kind of content I can ask for. Thank you =).
I'm a magic player who still has his old yugioh stuff from highschool, well I stopped collecting DM stuff when XYZ came out, but I've always enjoyed the more casual stuff. Rare Hunters has been an absolute blast for me to watch. I think it was your funny skits that led me to your channel!
I'm a 90's kid only getting into it for the nostalgia and I'm learning how to play the game properly now + I've never played any other card games. I enjoy your videos since they're approachable, I don't understand enough to piece together the macro game and watching you explain/read abilities really helps me see the basics of strategy. In terms of the "mistakes" (6:55) that's a really good point I think people need to be aware of in general whenever they're watching videos. Whether it's watching pro e-sports or traditional sports or even a cooking competition, it's easy to analyze plays/mistakes when you're not under the same pressure as them.
as a casual fan who got into the hobby via y'all, I'd say keep doing what you're doing! If there's one thing I'd be interested in seeing, it's y'all just duelling with decks from underappreciated archetypes. Maybe like a Wheel of Archetypes series where you're given two random archetypes to build that weren't Big Deals in the meta and weren't used by major characters from the shows, but that have some fun mechanics or underappreciated cards.
The fact that an explanation is needed for just having creative fun means it's time to start drawing a solid line. Games are meant to be fun and competitive gamers (not all) are ruining anything that is not tied to clout. Also the split across the table view is unique, keep that 👍🏾
Really enjoy your guys content. If you guys like keeping it old school, maybe GOAT format duels would be popular? I'd definitely be a fan of that. I feel like there's a market for that level of nostalgic yugioh.
As someone who always had an intrest in yugioh but never really got into it you guys have been such an inspiration for me to actually maybe start playing. I love that you guys make the content understandable for ppl like me who only know how the game was played in duel city xdd Tbh im at the point where i came for yugioh but stayed cause of you ppl or however the saying goes
I love this content. One of my best friends is always going to tournaments and trying to get me to go with them. I’ve built a more modern Dark Magician deck for when we do play, but my favorite deck I own is one I built for all of the 5D’s signer dragons. Love seeing the more casual fun content than any of the more modern updated dueling.
Love yalls content 😁 I just jumped into master duel and learning new decks after yall got me excited about remaking my favorite decks from middle school
I honestly enjoy seeing a more casual approach to playing YGO, as someone who is intimidated with competitive YGO. Appreciate this content exist to show another way to play. You guys got me interested in collecting YGO again too lol
Casual Yugioh decks is really all I play and build. And having more YuGiOh content that focuses on theme decks and casual Deck techs/duels is good for bringing new ppl into the game since the competitive Meta stuff is just too overwhelming and confusing for ppl. Most people try out Yugioh bc they watch the Anime, but then when they come play the actual game they will most likely encounter "Meta" decks since that's what most ppl play. They will go up against decks that will do all kinds of crazy fast turn 1 kill combos and then the new player will just drop the game soon after. We need more channels to showcase the casual fun side of Yugioh.
Y'all keep doing y'all! I really enjoy this channel even though I'm a old Yu-Gi-Oh head. Even when y'all play newer stuff it's still fun and interesting to watch.
Love the entry point for the channel for sure. Rare hunters was great, love to see more deck building/theory crafting like that. Maybe even some restricted duels like synchro only for extra deck.
Seriously hats off to yall. My friends and I at our peak in yugioh tried to make a channel. We were pretty competent players but playing in front of a camera was completely different. Keep up the good work 😁
I don't even play Yu-Gi-Oh or have any cards. I just enjoy watching the content over the years because you guys have good chemistry and a since of fun, friendly, approachable feel to the game. You guys are my comfort videos!
I'm happy with the content! I buy 3x starters when I want them, but I literally don't play the tcg irl. I play master duel because I can't get any of my friends into the tcg. I have a decent understanding of the meta despite only playing crystal beasts on MD. I love that you guys explain EVERY CARD, including every Pot of Greed! Too many channels go full ham on "i play this card because, 'why not?'" expecting people to know wtf they talking about. The fact that y'all make the game accessible to noobs like me who are trying to get back into it, and still take the time to explain cards, makes me happy. Y'all are all GOATS in my book. Don't change!
I think it speaks volumes that the comments I am reading under this video - and many of your others - are mostly well-punctuated, polite, relevant and appreciative of what you’re doing. You seem to really understand your community very well and I can only echo the sentiments of many other viewers in saying that you each bring something different to your videos and your approach is unique within the community, especially for the more casual side of the game.
Thanks for yalls videos I really enjoy watching yall play and the humor yall add to it as well, plus i know yalls videos are safe for my younger family members to watch.
I'm subscribed to some of the competitive Yu-Gi-Oh channels, and I watch your content way more often than I do theirs. Never change Team APS! I love you guys the way you are
I love what you guys are doing! I love the types of duels you guys do and wverything in between really. The style that you guys intergrate isnt only unique but helps people like me whi may not be in the loop of every card effect know whats going on! The missplays honestly just makes the games more fun! Feels more human and just a couple of friends playing a game they love. And dont worry paul you dont ever sound like like your complaining. I love your videos about the yugioh community as it keeps me in the loop about whats going on in yugioh!
The fun and casual nature of this channel is what brings me back to the old days. I feel that the old retro duels like the Rare Hunter series were always more fun to watch because you never really knew what would happen especially with cards that don't see competitive play. Love the channel and waiting to see what new type of duel is next.
I got into your channel because you guys remind me of how I started. Just you and your friends playing around a kitchen table with home brew cards. Or at a lunch table at school. You, Ruxin34, and DuelLogs are the only ones I watch because I just love the way y’all sound. Ruxin is fun to watch open and I especially enjoyed seeing his collab with you, duel logs is relaxing to watch when I don’t know what’s going on , and you guys I love because of the nostalgia for how yugioh was for me growing up. Making friends, playing with your buddies, and just chilling back before it because so meta focused on archetypes
As someone who mainly plays MTG and barely plays Yugioh, I enjoy your content because it's slow, easy to digest and the personalities of everyone in the videos is so fun I would enjoy watching you guys showing off competitive decks maybe as a series on the side in between uploads where you guys just explain competitive decks and show off some games but going through plays at your normal speed, explaining the cards and what plays you're making, heck you could probably even just have a series that's just Trell explaining how to play a competitive archetype and I'd eat that up
I am 100 percent on board with the fact your channel focuses more on fun casual Yugioh over competitive yugioh. I think most of the yugitubing world is competitive focused so the content is oversaturated and makes the casual decks in the video more interesting because I'm less likely to have seen that deck do it's thing and I get to watch a new playstyle and just the results of an unusual matchup. Definitely one of the reasons that Team APS has always been my favorite!
I prefer showing the content that you all have been doing. You're a HUGE niche in this community especially us who have "retired"(you don't play the game but either play some form of it casually or just keep up with the game all together). I appreciate this channel and value the idea that it's the only Yugituber channel that I follow daily
I really appreciate the way you guys play. If I want to see competitive, I can find literally in a bunch of other channels, but the casual format with real cards and real misplays (like everybody does), I can find in just some channels.
I am all about your vids. There are plenty of comp channels out there to choose from if someone wants that (as you briefly mentioned as well). What you guys have is very unique (as many others have said) and should be preserved. Plus, you have more fun with what you have now it sounds like, and that is important!
I really enjoy this channel's style of content. I feel like the majority of the Yugioh community (especially these days) is overly focused on the competitive side of the game, and while a good Branded versus a good Kashtira game can be interesting, there's only so many times I can see someone activate Branded Fusion and then get Dimensional Barrier-ed before I get bored. Watching casual duels with jank cards that don't otherwise see play is a breath of fresh air, and something I wish I could do more often but don't get to because A) None of my close friends even like Yugioh, and B) If I go to a locals or go onto Master Duel the only way I can get a real game in is if I play something competitive. I guess I sort of live vicariously through some of your guys' content, and I hope you make plenty more in the future.
We love you guys. Please never give up on this channel. I don’t get out much and over the years you have become like old friends. Wishing you the most happiness in life ❤
I Must say, the entire APS team has become a source of incredible YGO content, between the multiple channels and various types of contact, they’re truly becoming one of the GOATs of the Yugi-Tubing community
I honesty found you guys (and now love your content) because i recently felt nostalgic about yugioh. So coming a guy who doesnt really care for what yugioh has become, thank you for the content. The duels always feel fun and competitive. That coupled with the chanllanges has made this one of my favorite channels.
100% agree. There is a significant difference between those who enjoy the constant overturning of the meta, and those who just enjoy playing the cards we like. I play Red-Eyes because it was my first favorite card, Branded Albaz because I love the lore, and Traptrix because I love the art and “hole” traps are the definition of what a trap should be to me. That’s it. Unless something else catches my eye for a different reason in the future, this is all I will ever play.
You guys are the only ygo content I watch. I stopped playing competitive a long time ago and your character duel and other casual content is what I'm here for. S tier content for sure.
I hear a LOT of people state that they like Yu-Gi-Oh, but definitely not on a competitive level... and I agree with such people... the game in competition just feel like playing on your own more then playing an opponent these days...
As someone that has only gotten into Yu-GI-Oh very recently, the no competitive content suits this channel so well. You are all such amazing people that give me the same joy as dueling me friends, and I love that.
Thankyou guys for playing how you do. This is the only Yugioh channel I am following. I don't play modern yugioh competitively because of the monetary commitment, how the community acts around it (some people suck), and it just doesn't feel like something fun. If Yugioh was always like the duels you guys had, I'd play every day.
I got a video idea for you- showcase your own "character" starter decks, a 50-card compilation of cards you like that you would use if you were a character during any given subseries of yugioh, or even do a deck each for duel monsters, gx, 5ds, and so on, followed by a match played with those decks.
Honestly, I found your channel recently and I think that your format is perfect. I don't play Yugioh but your content is just fun and enjoyable. I play a lot of tabletop war games and I always prefer the themed and narrative battle reports and you have filled a similar niche for card games.
Being one of those more "casual" players who enjoy themed decks based off characters / archetypes, I appreciate the approach you guys take. And generally speaking, I think it's far more appealing to get people into the game. Showing the fun, easier to grasp stuff. So, yeah, very thankful for what you guys do!
Hey Paul & Alec, random suggestion going off what you guys said here. You make great points in this "podcast" aha, that make so much more sense than I think people realise when they leave the comments you were talking about. However maybe an answer would be to give them one video of the kind they asked for (to a degree) & see how it does. I think we all know how it'll go but I digress. What I think could be a good idea though is surely you guys have more fun decks than tournament decks that don't usually see UA-cam that could be fun to just see get played. I'd like to see that & I think maybe that would appeal to those viewers you speak of as well. I don't know I'm just throwing in my two cents & regardless always look forward to vids from TeamAPS. Keep it up guys because you're honestly the best Yu-Gi-Oh channel on this platform.
Thank you for showing us how the magic happens! Honestly as someone that lives on the fringe of YuGiOh (i.e. I don't keep up with but I have an understanding of modern deck building, can't attend locals due to not having one a reasonable distance, but still want to be involved) I really appreciate your content because it's very evergreen. I can come back to those structure deck duels and enjoy them after having watched them months ago.
This is the only channel I watch for YuGiOh! BECAUSE you guys do it the way you do. You make me want to play again! That is saying something as I’ve fully stopped and sold everything twice. Watching the Rare Hunters, Larry in the Hole and the random starter deck/mystery box/themed duels really kicks the nostalgia in. If I had a group to do those styled things with… I’d be broke! I know you somewhat need to do what gets the views, but hopefully you can maintain doing exactly what you want so it remains fun for everyone on the creator side. Usually when you guys are having fun, I’m having fun watching! Much love to the whole crew! ❤️
Keep doing what your doing guys. Its amazing. I got out of the competitve yugi scene years ago, and I dont really like watch mordern yugi matches. I love the nostalgia you bring to the scene. And everyone wants more of it!!!
Love the honesty and openness in this video. For the vast majority of my Yugi-Oh experience, I’d resonate with what you guys are saying so much. I’ve only really gotten super competitive with the game in the last year and a half, and most of 2011-2012. Outside of that, I’ve genuinely been just a casual lover of the game and Gen 1 Anime. Thanks for reminding many of us the fun of playing, and to not take everything about a kids card game so serious 😂🤘
I love this channel *because* you focus on casual YGO. My local shop isn't a Konami shop and the scene there is way more casual and always has people playing a deck they just have fun with even if they are not highly competitive. It's a great way to play.
Sounds like a fun locals 😊
Sounds dope. My locals are mainly die hards turned me away
Casual tournaments are the best honestly.
i second this
You've basically explained exactly why your channel appeals to me so much - you're a bunch of friends playing Yu-Gi-Oh in an accessible way that I can still keep up with and enjoy.
Because of your speed duel house tournaments I got into speed duel format and built fun theme decks to play with my friends!
i don't even play YGO, but you just described what i like about this channel perfectly. Thx
I agree love the random and the bulk and mystery stuff
Keep the old school yugioh, own this space! Other channels can provide the competitive side, but this is your guys' niche and why youre the only yugitubers i subscribe to
Facts 💯
Same. It's the only Yugi tubers I watch as well.
To be fair, there is Dark Armed Duelist, but he's more about opening sets and deck profiles.
At least the deck profiles are of casual decks a majority of the time.
I agree! the rare hunters and old school games and character duels are fun. They should just go with it.
I will second that. I don't even play Yugioh cuz it's an actual mess, but I'm still here constantly watching new uploads.
I think part of the appeal of team APS comes from the fact that each member has a different appeal like from Paul being the more business oriented person and Alec being a casual to trell being the competitive player with a big heart of gold.
Even if the team doesn't do real competitive duels, every fans has one member that they can relate to
They're like the equivalent of Timmy, Johnny, and Spike from Magic:The Gathering.
As someone who has never played in a competitive setting, one of my favorite things about this channel is that you can still have fun playing casually with friends. At the end of the day, it’s a game. It’s nice to see you guys not take it too seriously and just have fun!
"... it's a game." Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?
I watch plenty of other channels that do competitive yugioh so you guys are a nice breathe of fun and casual play to go along with them
I will say that for most part I appreciate all the casual content you guys bring to the table, I especially liked the rare hunters format you guys did. I know old school packs now are expensive so the fact that your willing to spend on expensive retro boxes for fun content just shows your overall love for the game, and that you appreciate the people that view and support your channel.
I agree especially the part about making content. It is a lot tougher than people think. You have to balance entertainment and technical play.
Paul and Alec I think mentioned in one of their videos that they do live together. It takes a real friendship to do that
So true ❤
Drafts would be really cool to see
Hard time wording this.
It seems like y’all really enjoy the content y’all make and the decks you play, that joy is contagious!
Thanks for taking the time to consider me, the casual fan. You guys are super approachable, and that's why I'm here.
"I said a bunch of random things. I'm good." Exactly my point. It's better for not taking itself too seriously.
Keep being yall! You'll draw the crowd you want and the support you need to make your channel continue to grow!!
Love your guys' content! Thanks for all the years you've put blood, sweat, and tears into your channel.
1. Dice
2. Coin Flip
3. Effects that affect the duelist instead of the cards/field
(Hand size, discard to declare an attack, etc.)
4. No secrets (deck specifically designed to expose your opponents strategy
5. Token Deck!
6. Decks based only on Attribute OR Type
I'll keep cooking.. but that's what I got so far.
You guys are extremely good duelists and
its an honor to watch. Thank you
I would be totally up for some modern duels of old favorites (Toon, BEWD, Dark Magician etc.)
While when I go to play Yugioh with some friends who are very competitive, they always mock me for making "dumb mistakes", "missing the timing for a counter" or "Your best move is just one extra Deck monster that doesn't even control the board ?!"
I play a Madolche deck where I was kinda forced to add some handtraps to be able to survive more than one turn in my local "metagame", and when they tell me "You should add [That card] or [this card] and you will be more competitive", I'm like "But I wanna enjoy myself playing I deck I like.".
I hope you guys continue to make content, but even more important than that, I hope you guys ENJOY every piece of content you make ❤
I honestly enjoy seeing a more casual approach to playing YGO, as someone who is intimidated with competitive YGO.
Every now and then, I get an nostalgia itch for old-school YGO. You guys help scratch that itch so much with the Rare Hunters videos. Keep it up!
I've only recently gotten back into yugioh, and I've found your channel to be a delightful trip of anime and playground dueling nostalgia
As someone who mainly plays MTG and barely plays Yugioh, I enjoy your content because it's slow, easy to digest and the personalities of everyone in the videos is so fun
I would enjoy watching you guys showing off competitive decks maybe as a series on the side in between uploads where you guys just explain competitive decks and show off some games but going through plays at your normal speed, explaining the cards and what plays you're making, heck you could probably even just have a series that's just Trell explaining how to play a competitive archetype and I'd eat that up
I am 100 percent on board with the fact your channel focuses more on fun casual Yugioh over competitive yugioh.
Luv you guys man keep doing what you’re doing
We love retro duels and videos you guys do please don't ever stop being you! 😀
Thankyou guys for playing how you do. This is the only Yugioh channel I am following. I don't play modern yugioh competitively because of the monetary commitment, how the community acts around it (some people suck), and it just doesn't feel like something fun. If Yugioh was always like the duels you guys had, I'd play every day.
yall are so fun, i dont even play yugioh anymore but love watching these vids
I never got to play yu-gi-oh with friends as a kid so watching you guys play draft boxes and speed duels gives me so satisfaction.
