I really miss the old serious plotlines from previous Atelier and similar Gust games. I might check this out if it's gonna be a bit like those. The Iris and Mana Khemia trilogies are still my favorite Gust games to this day.
Feels like a natural evolution to the Ryza trilogy, which is not a bad thing. Gathering is done in an even more open world, with some on-field synthesis used for gathering and exploration, from what little I could tell. Movement is obviously augmented due to the freedom they're giving us. Being able to gather stuff from a distance, thanks to a gunstaff, is as badass as it is convenient and useful. The battle system looks like it'll be the same as the Ryza trilogy, "real time turn based" (I still have no idea what to call it), now with the option of changing ranges. In regards to synthesis, it seems items have cores now? Just more optional steps for it, which is fine by me. It'll probably mean I'll spend even more hours in the Atelier and with music like that, I'll gladly do it. Not quite sure what Resonance and Mana mean, but we'll get to it eventually. And a building system is always another thing to do. I know I'll personally enjoy it and it seems like it'll have some sort of benefit, due to the happiness meter on the left corner. Maybe. Maybe there will be a literal town building system! Definitely a lot to look forward to. In regards to the story and whole vibe of it, seems like a more personal story, maybe akin to the Dusk trilogy. I like it so far! The characters and their designs look very cool and attractive in more than one way. I like sex appeal as much as the next guy, but even to me, Yumia's run cycle and gather animation are a bit too much, I can tell she's curvy, I don't need her whole cake to be blasted on my face, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't capture my eyes. With all of that said, very much looking forward to yet another proper Atelier title. Edit: I'm still unsure of how the combat will function. Looks more action based than the previous trilogy.
@n.p.4954 The trilogies I seriously recommend are Dusk (Ayesha, Escha and Logy, Shallie) and Ryza (Ryza 1, 2, 3), those are peak Atelier to me. They're games with charming stories, a focus on characters and the bonds between them. They can be challenging at times, too, which I particularly enjoy. There's a very unique gameplay loop of gathering and battle into synthesis (item crafting). The games previous to Ryza are turn based, by the way.
@@fluffything7134 Definitely. For me, the best starter games are Escha and Logy, Sophie and/or Ryza. One thing about Escha and Logy, it's the second game in the Dusk trilogy, Ayesha being the first, but that one isn't a great first Atelier title. It's an AMAZING game, but definitely after a couple Atelier titles under your belt. Though you could thug it out and try it out too, I'm sure you'll enjoy it either way.
@@fluffything7134as someone who has started with ryza 1 and have played everything after it (ryza 2, Sophie 2, ryza 3) i can personally say that starting with ryza 1 is your best bet.
@aaronallen5439 oh yeah, they are. The Arland, Dusk trilogy and the first two games of the Mysterious trilogy are dubbed. Good number of known VAs too. I personally love it.
Thank you for taking Atelier in a new direction. Ever since Ryza, the team keeps trying to improve the RPG aspects of this cute alchemist game. I love the mature protagonist, can't wait to play this ❤

@@mrdude88I tried, I just couldn’t get into it. I think this might be better for me. I’ll try again but I’m waiting for the prices to drop so I could buy the whole trilogy.

watching the concord judged by character designer really cements just how well done, every localized anime-like JRPG's character design to ever grace the other side of the world. From what I just heard him repeat ad nauseam, I can see that the main character's primary colors are black AND white, with red accents, metal gold trims, and a contrasting blue neck to chest vertical line creates a visually coherent design. As well as the contrast between carefully selected lighter & darker tones.
@KOEITECMOEUROPE First, please let me express how much I love your animation work. Especially the weight/inertia in ladder-climbing @6:11 and rock-pushing @6:20 moves. They both feel great. Character movement is the most important to me in terms of interacting with a game. I didn't see too much of slow walking (which I use the most in games that have good-feeling animation), but I hope that it is great too. This will be the first Atelier game that I play, and I'm really excited about it including more real-time elements in the battle system. Other than the points above, of course, the art style and graphics show how much work you've put into Atelier Yumia, and I really appreciate it. I also love the soudn and voice-over work. Voices really make it easy to understand the emotions behind characters. Good luck with releasing your new title!
I think they are understanding the character’s look will draw the people to the game. Ryza thick thighs introduce many people to the franchise, and Yumia’s look is pretty good, as she doesn’t look childish like the other protagonist before her.
I haven't paid attention to the Atelier series for the longest time but the look of this one and the fact it has a darker edge and a more mature story to go with it definitely caught my eye. I'm interested in this one for sure.
Day 1 purchase confirmed! Ryza 3 was amazing, and I secretly hoped for an alchemy system similar to Atelier Sophie, but I'm sure I'll love it regardless. I usually play it with a friend-he handles the alchemy and questing while I focus on gathering and combat. He had been hoping for a building system, and it looks really promising!
I've never played the previous games, but this does look interesting. I especially like Yumia's design. The whole magic staff with a rifle on the other end is great. Then there's those alchemically powered high-heeled jet boots. It just looks so great.
I can't wait to try this out! I was going to start with Ryza, but it seemed too laidback for my taste. But it seems like Koei Tecmo is testing the waters to reach a broader audience. I'm looking forward to getting this!
Okay I love this cast of characters, and the combat looks exciting. I skipped the last trilogy, but this one I may have to get cause it looks really good.
Part of what I love about the Atelier series is the turn based combat. Everyone is lazily switching to action combat because they cant think of anything else. The action rpg market is over saturated to a point there is no disticntion between an action game or an rpg anymore.
Can't say I disagree, but between generic action and ATB, I'll take the generic action every time. I was afraid this would use ATB (because Ryza 1 did), so I'm relieved it does not, at the very least. The action gameplay doesn't look good in the video though, fully turn-based may have been better.
@@lasselen9448 Yea I wanted to like Ryza but the battle system killed it for me, ill likely never finish it. Trails Into Daybreak is a good example of ehat they couldve done or even visting old systems from other games like Grandia.
As someone who started playing ff7 back in the day, along with a load of other turn based rpgs. I like action a lot more. Atlus does a great job at turn based rpg like smtv and p5. But when I played Ryza 1 I didn’t care too much for it.
@KP0719x the ryza games got them a lot of money so sadly that's probably how the series will stay. Sophie 2 did really well though so maybe there is hope for multiple styles of gameplay for atelier games? I'd be down with that as long as we are still getting turn based in some form. I honestly wouldn't even mind another game with the ATB system even though I hated ff7 for that reason.
This is gonna be so much fun! I love that there's a construction element to it, and the character designs all look quite distinct from prior entries - I loved all the old Atelier games, but it's nice to have a different feel after a full Ryza trilogy. I do hope they invest in the storyline, though. As beautiful as all the Ryza entries were, and how much fun I had with the alchemy system, Ryza 3's plot especially was just not as compelling as prior trilogies that had distinct heroines for each entry.
Ohhhh ahhhhh ..... Yyyeeeeessssss .... Can't wait till March then, looks great and modular building house!? Wooooooow. I hope synthesis will not be too easy haha love it 💕

I love the more adult vibe the game's plot is giving compared to the usual lightheartedness Atelier series has been known for (which I also love 🥰). Reminds me of another series I love, the Tales of, which while they do get A LOT darker, I think Yumia seems to be aiming to strike a balance between them and Atelier and land around the middle. As someone who wanted to see what Atelier could do with a little more conflict oriented plot, I'm looking forward to what it is going to end like. And even if it doesn't, it will just fall back to the usual Atelier vibe I love. Either way, it's a win 😁

after seeing this gameplay, there is a HIGH chance this will be my first Atelier game
Some very interesting new elements in the series! Can't wait to play this ☺️
I am in love with this game and can't wait for the release
Looks 🔥. This will be my 1st atelier game
OK, congratulations you just confirmed that you will take my money as a pre-order
This game looks awesome. I love the darker tone
