The paddle shifters allow you to adjust the regenerative breaking on demand between 4 different levels. It’s a really good feature especially if you have passengers who aren’t used to the highest level of regenerative breaking.
yes, I found the highest level regen is something many people would have a tough time getting used to. It does help with range that's for sure.
i was diving e-niro 2022 for about 1 hr, my wife is kinda sensitive to fast accelerations and breaking, we did however drive on maximum regen at all times because we wanted to try using 1 pedal only when test driving it. If we let up the gas pedal to quick then it felt a bit to much but it was also good that Kia has it so u can let it up slowly for the regen to happen more easily which we learned after some time of testing. Seems to be our "next car" :) we did try the MG ZS but it just felt smaller inside and also, for some reason i just could not get it to drive smoothly, not sure if the gas pedal was too light or what it was.
Just bought this in the EX trim. It’s a beautiful vehicle. Thanks for the upload, it helped my decision making for purchase.

Although it doesn’t “look like a spaceship” the EV sound it makes while coasting is one of my favorite things
Good content and excellent overview. I’ve driven my VW eGOLF for 4 yrs and it was very well made . Only 125 mi range at that time . EV’s manufactured now are produced for obsolescence in 3 yrs IMO. The capability to run all EV’s 300 miles exists but car manufacturers want buyers to be stuck replacing their ev constantly to recoup their expenses switching over from highly profitable ICE cars . They won’t have all the revenue from repairs, maintenance, etc.. outside repair shops are also losing customers with the change to EV’s . Our economy needs to adjust to be able to easily service the EV and swap out batteries as capacity , weight, and efficiency increase , IMO. These lithium ions are the dinosaurs by 2030.
Thanks for watching! I think you hit the nail on the head! Not only cars but everything is manufactured with the expiration date nowadays, especially electronis like phones, tablets etc.
Nowadays its not impossible to buy a 400 mile range vehicle, the problem is longevity but also time that it takes to charge them. I will be looking at new Kia EV6 tomorrow with the new 800Watt charging. It will be years before the infrastructure catches up. I think for now plug in hybrids may be the way to go.
I drive a 2019 Kia NIRO Premium. Fun to drive. Range is 260-310 depending how you drive. A 500 mile drive on freeways meant less Regen, so range was closer to 239.
That makes sense! I think that magic number is 300+ miles and 30 minute charge. Interesting times! Thanks for sharing!
Ps Public chargers charge to 80%. So range on Highway is 215 on average.
why is the window trim blacked out in some places and chrome in others, looks very odd
Yes it does and i am not sure why. The top portions ahpuld be chrome and black on the bottom.
Quite sure another video reviewer picked this up and it was just protective film that hadn’t been removed.
@@williamandangelamurray9142 you may be right because i have seen others since and none had the mismatched trim.
Test drove this today, I really like it, the price was 43,000 with Kia rebates, I don't want to spend that much. So I'll see what else comes out 2022 however, if the price decrease I may get it.
Crazy times right now with inventory shortages. I think it will be at least a year or longer until things go back to normal. thanks for watching!
$10,500-10,900 lease rebate plus the $7,500 tax rebate could make it $230-$300 a month lease!

@@MattTheCarguy I haven’t found one. But the Kia website shows $10k-$11k off right now for these because I’m sure they are going to be hard wells with an EV6 right next to it.

Yes, someone else brought it up. I honestly did not even pay attention to it until then. It is very bizarre. I went back to the dealership but the car was gone already.
Chrome trim is only on c pillar...

Are you referring to the chrome trim around windows? Some have it blacked out

Are the headlights LED or HID Xenon?
They have LED DLR but the headlights are projector beam.
@@MattTheCarguy LED, HID & Halogen are all compatible with projector housings.
I just installed LED Headlight, but LED fog light that were ordered didn't fit correctly so I ordered another one today... Korean market and Canadian market get ones with LED headlights but US doesn't...

@@sko1beer only long range is available in US and none of them are equipped with LED headlights regardless of trim level unlike other parts of the world..

There are ambient lights, you can control brightness and several different colors...

Its actually FWD. No AWD option available
Most people cannot use the tax credit unfortunately.
Not everyone will qualify for the full benefit either.
@@MattTheCarguy Kia is one of the only companies that will let you take the tax credit off your lease cap price. This is probably the best option for most people in my opinion as it lets you get the full benefit. Then if you like the car you can buy it once the lease ends (the residual value looks pretty reasonable...24kish after a 24 month lease).
@@berrytrl1 if you lease it the tax credit goes to the leasing company and technically it should be passed on to the customer to reduce the cap cost therefore reducing payments. Some or most dealers wont tell you that and mark it up so they can pocket the money.
You can still get $4000 if you buy a used ev that cost $25k or less

Have they fixed the serious fire risks with this model yet?
I was not aware they were any. Certain gasoline engine vehicles from Kia/hyundai were recalled because of a chance of hydraulic brake fluid leak on hot engine could cause a fire. Did you hear something about the EVs as well?
I own a 2020 Niro EV and i have heard of no such thing.
