    Correction: Otto Röhm was the first person to invent acrylic resin back in the 1930's, it was Leonard Bocour and Sam Golden who are credited for inventing acrylic paint with various other people taking large parts in its development from the acrylic resign of the 1930's to the acrylic paint of the 1950's. Henry Levison of Liquitex (previously called Permanent Pigments) in 1955, created the first water-based acrylic gesso. In 1956, the company starting selling water-based "Soft Body" acrylic paints. These were taken from Wikipedia.
