Ohhhhhhhh…..Catherine! You hit my memory button on this one. My Mother made a variation of this when I was growing up. She used cheddar cheese soup in hers and old fashioned hoop cheese. And she didn’t half the onion slices. I think she parboiled the potatoes instead of using the microwave, too. Wonderful, comforting supper on cool winter nights around the table. Thanks for triggering that memory.
This is good ! I made a variation of this using frozen hash browns and subbed the cream of chicken for mushroom flavor. I also added a cup of sour cream. Very satisfying !
@@jillstiner6395 It's been awhile since I bought these but it was the larger bag sold in the freezer section. Just layer them in whatever your baking in like Catherine did. Just keep the 2 layers equal and proceed as she did. Enjoy!
Make a version with one packet Lipton onion soup mix cup of sour cream add onions, mushrooms and green pepper (or peas) One can cream of chicken One can cream of mushroom All the rest is done the same as you do! So amazing!!
I’ve tried several of your recipes, and every one is a prize winner. There’s nothing like homemade comfort food. And the fact that your recipes are easy to make only makes it better.
You picked the perfect day to show us this recipe since our bipolar weather has changed again! 😋 This looks like a hearty , stick to your ribs type of dish that will definitely warm you up! 😘 Your recipes are so user friendly and perfect for even the beginner cook! 👍 Thanks for sharing another great recipe Catherine! 🥰
I love how your husband's hand came out with a fork🤣🤣🤣. This looks so good I'm making it tonight. It's snowing here and this looks like an amazing casserole!!! Thank you for all you do❤️❤️🙏
My parents lived in N.H. when I was growing up and the inexpensive meals they made were keepers I make to this day. One in particular was a casserole called Chinese pie was similar to shepherds pie. It was popular in the Boston area. It's made the same except using cream style corn instead of peas and carrots. This is comfort dood at it's best.Looking forward to trying your recipe.
Looks delicious Catherine.😘 I have never made this and I know my husband’s mother made something similar so I needed this recipe as she has passed. Thank you so much 👏🏻
Good morning Catherine. Another keeper from your kitchen. Pantry friendly too. Only two of us, so I will half this for us, a side salad & crusty bread. Thanks, have a good day.
I am happy that you wear a glove to use the mandolin. A few years ago, I cut a piece out of the end of my finger. I wish I had known aabout the gloves at that time. This recipe sounds yummy!
I used to make this a lot years ago when my older boys {28&23yrs old now☺️} were little, It’s been about 15 years since I made it because I have one daughter who doesn’t like potatoes at all unless homemade no lumps mashed w gravy n she’s not big on cheese either..but she will at least try everything first before making a decision that’s always been a rule of mine w my kiddos!😉but I was just sitting here debating on whether I’m making tacos or spending all day making spaghetti sauce n meatballs and this just popped up so I think imma make this for dinner instead because it’s much more less of a mess n being a mama of 6, { 2 of them being much older n out on their own now n 4 of them being 1-11yrs old} the less mess n clean up the better it is for me and them!!!😊 Thank You so much for reminding me of this delicious dish I know we’re all going to enjoy eating it together!!!🥰👍🏼👍🏼
If anyone is debating making this or not, dont. This is absolutely excellent and you need to make it. Only thing I did was add chopped celery to the meat. .
Thank you dear Catherine. I made this a couple times but tonight I switched it up a bit and pfollowed French onion & cream soups, we love cream of onion& mushrooms or chix, then layered it like in this. Waitingbtill my sons done working, I'll let you know God bless you all & a million thanks for all you give us viewer's ❤❤❤❤❤
Talk about yummy comfort food. I'm going to be making this delicious casserole. Thanks for sharing Catherine.Your recipes and desserts are wonderful. And I like how you taste test your recipes. Thanks !!
I have made many of your recipes since I have been watching you . This one I think is a winner. It looks delicious and easy to make and most of the ingredients are things we have on hand. I can’t wait to try this. I make a lot of casseroles and I know my family will enjoy this one! Thanks Catherine !
I made this today, and it was delicious!!! My husband loved it, and so did I. I also loved that it is very easy to make and uses ingredients that I already had. Everything I've made has been wonderful. This is definitely a winner!!
Making this for supper. One of my favorite beef casserole dishes. I found Campbell's Cream of Mushroom & Chicken combination! I will use a can of that. And I am in Louisiana so of course instead of black pepper I use Tony Chacherie's Cajun or Creole seasoning. So good!!!
Yum. ❤️ Grew up on that, minus the cheese & extra spices. All we had was salt & pepper but it sure was good. We put the raw ground beef in the bottom, onions, then raw potato slices, cream soups-bake.
After trying to figure out what to do with the rotisserie chicken I got from Costco yesterday, looks like I'm going to try this recipe but substituting chicken for ground beef. Your recipe sounds great Catherine but I don't have the ground beef right now but will be making it soon. Been watching you now for a couple of years and ❤️ your channel and your family and am sending greetings from the Washington, DC area.
I'm for sure going to make this. The only problem I have is letting it rest for 20 minutes. Something like this I want to dig into it as soon as I take it out of the oven.😄
I made this 4 times already the first I shared with two of my neighbors they fell in love with it but the next ones I saved for dinner the next day love it
Hey Catherine! That looks so scrumptious! And it looks very easy to make too! I'm all about yummy, easy and fast dinner ideas! I do have a question for you though. Where did you get your large glass mixing/serving bowls from? I have looked all over your store front on Amazon and I either overlooked them or they're not on there, one or the other. I've been looking to get a couple of very large, clear glass mixing/serving bowls for awhile now and I just love yours. There are many out there but I can see exactly how large yours are to where I can't exactly make out the size of the ones online and I've learned in the past that the dimensions aren't always what they say they are in the description and ended up with extremely smaller than desired. I don't want to have to learn the hard way again lol! So I thought hopefully you would see my comment here and I would just ask you since I just adore your glass bowls and they are about the size I'm looking for too. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipe with us! We've made a few of your yummy recipes before and have definitely not been disappointed by no means! 💜💜💜💜
Hi Catherine 👋 this looks delicious 😋 and I have plans to make this dish tonight, but I just wanted to know if I could cut up the potatoes 🥔 in a different way cause I don't have a what you have to slice the potatoes thin. Okay please let me know 😊

Absolutely I love your recipes and for the way we have to cook these times yes I don't use my stove or my oven I use air fryer, and bread machines

Wow does that look so yummy! Perfect for a dreary cold day...warm up the belly and comfort the soul food.
Good morning. It looks delicious, Catherine ❤️
Good afternoon.
You could turn this into a breakfast casserole just by subbing sausage for the ground beef.
Yum. ❤️
Grew up on that, minus the cheese & extra spices. All we had was salt & pepper but it sure was good.
We put the raw ground beef in the bottom, onions, then raw potato slices, cream soups-bake.
That looks so good!! I wanna make this! 😊 Thank you for your awesome, everyday, uncomplicated approach, i love it!!! ❤️👍🏽
I think a can of diced tomatoes would be a good addition to the meat mixture. And maybe diced celery?
Looks wonderful! Thanks
