That was a fun video. I finished my 15 deliveries this morning. I am retired so spend most days on ATS and ETS2. I must be one of the oldest players. You always have a full tank when delivering the Christmas cargo. I wish you and your family a Happy Christmas.
Thanks for highlighting my comment, I can tell my mom now I was on UA-cam and I am famous now, haha. SCS also gave the tip in their recent live stream to use a 4x2 instead of a 6x2 if you are struggling with grip, because less wheels on the ground means more pressure on each powered wheel, which gives you better traction. I am expecting a 6x4 to be even better, but I can't remember them saying anything specific about that. What they did say was if you have a taglift or midlift, you should raise that. Good to know I should not drive up to that camera viewpoint with a trailer attached. 😉They should give us a T-shirt with the text "I survived lost cargo" for all the trouble they are sending us through to get them. Haha.
I changed my drive tires and you should engage your power divider on the rear wheels. Then Dr as far as you can up to the package then you can back up a little bit and get out you can Dr down Great video really enjoyed it
I think that's kind of what actually worked to loosen it up, but I did it pretty unintentionally, basically just trying stuff to see if I could shake the trailer loose. And thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Some truckers on the SCS forums were lamenting the lack of long drives in the Winterland event last year, so I think the idea of the lost cargo thing is to create longer drives for those players since you usually have to drive all the way across Winterland from where you are to recover the cargo. It might also be a test for multi-leg delivery jobs in the future of the main game.
Ah, okay, that kind of makes sense. I wonder if the "lost cargo" thing is identified on the job description and I just didn't see it? It'd be kind of nice to know if that is a thing before you pick up the job. And multi-leg jobs would be very cool, I like that thinking. :)
Good to hear I'm not alone! It seemed like it would be an easy thing to do. I was surprised I couldn't back up though. At least at first, eventually backing up worked. :)
Looking at the driving in the dark, someone like me that pays attention to detail, its driving me crazy to see through the windshield its pitch black as if there was no moon or snow on the ground, even at night because the snow is white you still would be able to see a good distance in front of you and on the side of the headlights, but looking at the side mirrors its as if the moon or a big street light was above you lighting everything up on the sides and behind you. Its making my head spin seeing those kind of inconsistency’s.
The hampers you got is probably like the ones they use in USPS to put packages in for shipping. If you google usps hamper you will see its a cart with 4 wheels and a deep empty soft mainly canvas with metal framing around it.
If you stay as far to the right as you can when going up the hill to retrieve the lost package, you can turn around at the top. I did it twice earlier today. It still is rather difficult.
Yep. Lost cargo is disappointing! Even worse, you can't skip it. I had to do four of them. Would have been nice to get some cash. Wait until you get to the hills that are not climbable. I had two different ones and was forced to go around the entire map to avoid them. Last year had no issues so the changes to the snow driving affected things more than SCS anticipated. On the forum others are finding the same thing. Keep the videos coming. They are entertaining!
Looking on the area you got stuck with the trailer, I don’t think you were supposed to go that way, one I saw tire marks in the snow going of to the left and in front of you clean fresh snow. Second of all those things on the side of the trailers are made of thin plastic, if something like that happened in real life those things would have gotten ripped right off. They are there for aerodynamic and better fuel efficiency. Only in Europe those things are made of metal framing and covered with plastic or thin metal or nothing, they are the safety under ride guards. The US government is trying to push those things on into the American trucking industry, like what just happened there image trucks all over the place getting stuck on higher railroad crossings or dipped down delivery docks. Its not a issue since European trailers are only 12meters/40ft vs American trailers are 53ft, there’s a bigger gap between the drive tires and your trailer tires.
Oh, that's the easy way, sometimes the hard way is the fun way. :) Not yet with the Tobii and shifter, it's been so busy, but in two days I go on vacation, so very soon. I'm really looking forward to trying the Tobii. :)
Merry christmas from France. 🧑🎄 If you want you can drive on the frozen lakes 😉
Merry Christmas France! And whaaa? You can drive on the lakes! We are so doing that. Thanks.

Congrats on finishing the event, nice work! And Happy Christmas to you too! I'm really looking forward to the break. :)

Haha! That's good to know about the 4x2, I might try that. The hills in Winterland do seem a bit challenging. :)

It probably says more about me than you that I enjoy watching you struggle so much :)
Haha! I don't think you are alone, fortunately no matter how much I play I seem to regularly mess things up.
Christmas Hampers are food donations. Ie a family can acquire a hamper from * insert charity*.
Oh, this looks like a British English thing? I think we call them gift baskets, I've not heard them referred to as hampers on this side of the pond.

That was different having to reverse back out, at least some free fuel though. Many thanks.
I thought it was going to be a quick delivery, but yeah, that sure went sideways. I hope the families appreciate their hampers. :)
A picnic basket is a 'hamper', so think basket of food more than clothes. Though it IS possible it could be clothes.
Heh, why am I just learning this now? Thanks! :)
lol, i did the same thing. was able to back out of the stuck area.

To watch the Viewpoint at Mountain Resort, approach it from the opposite direction (on your way out).
Good to know, thanks!

When did you loose the cargo?
Santa lost the cargo. It's all his fault. ;)

I know, right? C'mon, Santa, the world is depending on you.
