this is obviously not a double standards issue! her problem wasn't with being called beautiful, it was the context of it. The guy literally said: Oh kelly you're so beautiful but i am going with george...as if it's the only quality she has as a coach! she is a great artist and coach and i totally get why she was upset.

She spends a lot of time and money to look beautiful and is then upset by someone calling her that - regardless of the context. She is very lucky to have the looks she has and the career to maintain it. Same with Delta. As a woman, I thought she over reacted imo. Also, she's commented on people's looks after they've sung their hearts out several times on this show. I wonder if they felt disrespected.
Umm realisticly he didn't have to comment to her at all. There's no pre requisite that stipulates contestants must list every coach's career successes should they turn. He could of very well left it with "I choose george", the fact that he acknowledged her before making he's decision was a sign of acknowledgement and respect towards her and showing he's appreciation, for it to be taken as anything other than that is childish and a croc of shit... love you muscat face

I understand what she's saying. The tone in how he said "you're beautiful" was sort of patronizing. Also, why didn't he give Kelly a hug? She was standing up to greet him, and he ignored her. That contestant is rude. Kelly is justified in feeling offended.
So she can say "Your So Good Looking" and he can't say "Your beautiful"? Please! She just cant take that he snubbed her and probably be accused of man handling or touching her inappropriately!
Or he's just a 'regular Joe' standing in front of 4 super stars and he was too nervous to hug her... If it was me up there I'd probably wouldn't have the confidence to walk up to Delta or Kelly to give them a hug either... I’m with Kelly, is not about call her beautiful as a compliment, it’s about using only that as a decision argument, you can compliment a girl or a guy with it, but that’s only part of the comment, not the whole statement. Kelly is a global super star with almost 25 years in music business and more than 40 millions records sold as solo, and other 60 million with Destiny’s Child, you can’t reduce her to just a beautiful girl, that’s the point.

It's the voice and they have the choice to choose the coach they feel that would take them to the end. I'm not sure he meant to say it that way. "Kelly you're so beautiful, but I'm going with George." I believe it could be construed as a compliment. In reality, it is his choice of who his coach will be? Maybe it's better, he didn't pick Kelly, because he may not go all the way. It seems to me, we cannot judge him because it actually is his choice. I love all the coaches, no matter what. I love Kelly! Yes, she’s stunningly beautiful but that’s definitely not one of the most interesting things about her and should not be top in the list of her many accolades. She’s a phenomenal talent with insane industry experience, not to mention talent show experience with DC and mentor experience from X-Factor
Kelly would have been frustrated at the remark because women are always reduced to their looks and not their credentials. Imagine having 24 odd years experience in the music industry and being a part of the 3rd best selling female group of ALL TIME, then fighting to have a contestant on your team, only to be called beautiful. He should put respect on Kelly Rowland's name, she is the most successful artist on that show. And in regards to her flirtatious comments - Kelly is married, she is not wanting to get with Trent from Wagga. Kelly is a dark skin black women in the entertainment industry, one of the most over looked groups in mainstream media. Even though we know she is mega talented and successful, I feel certain that those flirtatious remarks have been conditioned into her brain in order to not come across as "an angry black girl". This is what we are talking about right now in the world. How you may not be racist but you may have racist tendencies ie: instantly thinking a black girl is rude or angry if they aren't overly expressing otherwise. Even George was jokingly saying "oh im scared" on the episode tonight when Kelly was getting passionate about her pitch. He would never had said Delta was scaring him...Anyway, i know that the guys complaining about Kelly are not ready for the REAL conversation. In the mean time stream Coffee by Kelly on Spotify.

I stand with Kelly on this one personally. It's not that women don't like being complimented but we are more than just our looks and too often men will get comments that pertain to their work or their talent and the women just get a compliment for their looks. Like when Scarlet Johansen got asked if she wore underwear during an interview but the male actors actually got questions about their roles. It's rude and degrading.

That's irrelevant, though. It's The Voice-she clearly turned based on his vocal ability. While she gave a genuine compliment, he gave a backhanded one (intended or not) in an attempt to somehow validate her worthiness of possibly being his coach. Context matters...
Ryan P exactly. As far as we know they based on voice, because as ryan said the cant see the contestan. She mentioned to him both things in a respectful manner. She focus a lot on how diverse his voice was and what things they can work. He also shh the audience, and at the end kelly stand up, and he didn’t even greet her, but he did with Guy that even did not turn for him. Didn’t like that. He could have do the same and address her beauty and talent as well. I really like his performance but that things affect him in the voting process adding that this year there are other contestant with more diversity, uniqueness and talent.

Because she’s already turned based on his talent and merit, her comment was icing whereas he did not return that common courtesy. He didn’t mention her success or brilliance, but just how attractive she is. That is more than shady 🙄

I see all the comments supporting Kelly's pettiness. What I don't see is how the young man isn't a mind reader who understands how a woman's mind works, Kelly's in particular, who was on the spot in the middle of a difficult decision who simply said what he felt. I see a LOT of close-minded women in the comment section who seemingly major in the minors just like Kelly does and has for years on the show. Take for instance the time Guy simply used a strategy the show offers by blocking Kelly who then proceeded to throw a hissy fit threatening to pour water over Guy's head, as well as harassing George in her childish inquiry as to whom employed a strategy the contest allows. This behavior is precisely why men prefer staying single in the year 2023 than to face the blowback from petty women who assume no responsibility for their own actions while blaming men and the world for their own misgivings. Perhaps next time contestants should be given a list of terms that suit Kelly's Primadonna attitude so as to not "piss her off." Let her eat cake, I say. If it's not the contestants "pissing her off," it's Guy, George, the producers, audience members, etc. Unsufferable she is despite a comment section who support being trite. 😂😂
