His Audition and his last performance on this video, especially this last performance, by far my favorite. Total BULLSHIT that he didn't make it through!!!!!
Actually hard to believe he didn’t get through - I thought that last song was pretty solid. It’s the kind of thing that’s catchy and even if you didn’t know it when he started you felt like you did before it was done.
Kanye foul mouth west should not have been sung on the voice.......
Making exceptions for one artist is wrong also. A battle has always been singing the same song in your way. The young man has talent but this is the wrong venue.

Kelly is a different breed of a Coach….she just knows talent and what to do with it.

I don't care what George or anyone else thinks... the Skyfall Opera-Rap mash-up was the total bomb-digitty. Kelly is a musical genius and the guys pulled it off magnificently. I'd love that cut over my best stereo set up, as good as it sounded on my cell, I can only imagine it over my multi-$k stereo.
I'm not really into most of the newer rappers, they mostly all sound a lot alike. But Denzel has his own sound, and I'm diggin' it. Especially on his original stuff. But his few covers were pretty good too.
That was one of the worst Lose Yourself covers I've ever heard lol his original had no good schemes or bars. Below average rapper. But it's cool that rap was on The Voice for the first time, he just isn't that guy.

George wasn't trying to make the mashup sound stupid, he was making a point on "How do you judge two separate songs and genres?" Because, as he said, it isn't fair when other contestants have to perform the same song against each other, even if that means doing things outside their comfort zone, but Denzel is getting an "easy pass".
But, I don't think Boy George understood in that moment, that you can still tell who shines better with their respective parts, even though Henry was only really given one moment to shine, the rest was accoutrement for the rap parts.

@@cameronsmith9562 I completely understand what George was saying, but i don't know what he would have done with Denzel. It's like what Guy was saying, how do you make a rapper sing a song or make a singer rap? Probably the best thing they could have done was pick a song that has both. There's a number of songs that has rapping and singing in it, like do the song Em did with Rihanna. But even then, you couldn't really be able to do the classical singer do that style either.
Damn straight. No-one can compete with the lady. Be a gentleman George and stand down.
She is fierce and I love her for it.
@@GeekExtremist Even then, a lot of the battles have parts where the contestants sync up and you can really tell which one has a more powerful voice, but with those songs that doesn't really work.
That combo of Opera singer and the rapper was phenomenal!! I love Opera music I’m Sicilian American so, I normally don’t like rap. Not all rap just rap after 2000 . I’m old school but, that was brilliant to combine the 2 was phenomenal! I couldn’t get enough of it.
Denzel and Kelly made magic together. His original songs were out of this world for me. I hope he becomes famous!! Denzel hold that head UP!!!!!

You can really tell Kelly puts her team first. Her ability to unlock an artist's potential without changing who they are is second to none, and that is exactly what a coach on shows like this should be.

I love how unique his flow and rap is - he’s singing from the heart rather than imitating others. I love your work. It’s important to remember this is about the journey and experience - the chance to learn and polish your craft rather than a a final vote. If you connect with people with your music then you’ve won.

I love the mashup because rappers and classical singers both get shafted in these competitions because they are often alone in the genre. They both got their voices and artistry heard.

You know what pisses me off the most about Boy George ? He of all people should recognize something new and different and encourage it, embrace it! NOT criticize it! NOT try to label it and fit it into a box- taking away its originality. Nothing infuriates me more than the *hypocrisy* that I see from Boy George on this show. I hope everyone who has a different vision.. goes for it and never let others dictate who you are or the message you want to put out. Honestly, from what I know of show business, I wouldn't be surprised if it was fake outrage. Boy George built his entire image and career on breaking the rules - I sincerely doubt he'd care much in reality.
I certainly could be wrong, but it just seems wildly out of character for him. I figure it's the show business drama to stir the pot, or there's more going on that we don't see.

I love Denzels songs, and I am not in my 20's, 30's or well that's qll you get to know!! I think he's fabulous and I hope to hear him doing his own stuff commercially in Canada, hell worldwide!! Oh and I absolutely loved the LoseYourself/Skyfall mashup! It embodies what music is all about!! I always say, in most things in life, there should be no labels...if you like a song you like it but you have to be open to listen to different genres and this mashup allows you to do that!! Well done Kelly Rowland for putting it together!!

You are going to go places, not only do you write your own songs but you perform them in such a way its like watching a whole opera play out in under five minutes lol. What I absolutely love is your style, theres a LOT of old school in the way you perform and THAT is definitely going to take you higher than most. I’m not musically gifted at all, but I can say from watching the way Kelly was able to make Sam grow on his loopstation, and the way she nurtured Denzel here in this video. If I were ever able to perform on the voice with a unique style, I wouldn’t even wait for the pitches, I’d be on her team in a heartbeat! She can sense real talent and she is an INCREDIBLE coach!

Almost a year later, I ran across this competition. I am 67 & not a real "fan" of RAP but, I am totally shocked that Denzel did not win :( What a shame! I pray his exposure has caused him to soar & be given the credit he is due!

@@joshuamorton4620 Denzel was on the Voice Australia in 2019. A quick search shows that people performed Eminem's "Lose Yourself" on the Voice Germany in 2014 and on the Voice France in 2017. (And there was the legendary "Thrift Shop" performed on the Voice Germany in 2014 as well.) There were probably others.

The whole controversy of whether Denzel should do just his own rap originals or not is what took him out of contention. I partly blame Kelly because she let Boy George get into her head. Kelly knew that Denzel would be better off rapping to his own stuff rather than someone else's. Kelly should've stuck to her guns but she allowed Boy George to influence her decision.
@Marquito, Denzel played only one song of Kanye_ and it's the one Boy George and Guy didn't like. Rest were his. You must have missed it
@@ginan4527I'm aware of that but at Denzel's audition Boy George felt then he'd fair better rapping to another artist's work and Kelly disagreed. Here, she was reminding him of that. George was going back and forth with Kelly and getting into her head in typical Boy George fashion.
And that's how the other judges play the game. It's not really a comp for the singers these days considering they generally go no where. It's all about what judge wins.
