Could not edit my recent post but just wanted add that I really appreciate your lower Mobile County kindness for handing fish to the couple at the dock. I know they really appreciated them.
Very nice and objective review of the Mustad Octopus jig. It obviously does catch fish, but doesn’t hold up very well. I just ordered a few sizes so I can test them myself and also compare them to the Nomad SquidTrex, that also works very well and seems to hold up better.
HELL YEAH thats how you start off a video. First drop and insta hookup. The bend in that rod was a thing of beauty. I had an octopus jig kinda like that but someone felt they wanted it more then me and helped themselves to it. Nice to see it in action, I may have to pick me up another one. Excellent Video as always Capt.
I love the Octopus, I love the wrench, 9/16's is my favorite also, and you giving away your catch is the over the top move. I'm so glad I found your site and looking forward to many more of your adventures.
I don't remember a winter where the weather has been mostly fishable and downright nice! I'm sure as soon as I plan a trip it will magically appear! Great video .
You sure had a good old time out there especially for a January day. I bet you the wrench jig didn't cost you as much as that octopus one did. Great video Captain. I never get tired of seeing that kind of stuff.
always nice when you can get offshore on a good day to catch some fish! havent been fishing since november been to busy building traps gonna try and go after some sheephead and drum friday if the the weather permits we shall see! Lol
Great show. I am bored out of my mind. High rivers have shut my fishing down. Going to the Theodore Industrial Canal next week to fish for sheeps. Hope there are few still there.
I look at those squids in tackle shops and think the triggers are going to tear them to shreds. What surpised me though was the tentacles seemed to survive it was the head that gave up the ghost. I would clip those tentacles off and tie them on a lead head. I believe where those lures are going to shine is in the deep water where you won't be bothered by the triggers.
Well shiver me timbers, guess I have found a new use for my old made in China wrenches 🔧 😅. Great content 👌 just found your channel, Thanks for theshare . Oviedo fl.
Nice content, especially since I just got one of those octopus jigs but have yet to try it. So far I'm liking your videos. Might be nice to brain spike the fish before bleeding him, put him out of pain.
Dammit Collier! Information and awesome informative content that's what you bring by far my most favorite UA-camr keep up the good work you are way better than that brant guy. I think that's his name . Anyways hope you do a sheep's head trip giveaway soon
I just cleaned out 4 old toolboxes and I was thinking about making some lead jigs, guess I'll save the lead and use this pile of old odd size wrenches instead. That's flipping awesome
I've only saw the ocean once and I'm 32 it would be nice to go out once I love fishing I go atleast twice a week but what fish are good eatins in salt water
Cool octo jig. Too bad it didn’t have any staying power. I think I have caught almaco before but thought they were undersized amberjack. Is there one feature u look for to distinguish between the two fish?
Yes it was really cool to use! And to me, their dorsal fin is how I distinguish the difference. It usually has more of a pronounced point to it. I explain the difference in the video
Awesome, glad your liking it. And I have an accurate valiant 300 on that setup, but I just purchased a shimano ocea jigger 2000 I’ll probably start using with it now
Fun to watch you catch fish. Yes = it catches fish = the rubber like Invadir octopus. HOWEVER = it doesn’t hold up. Cheap. Same thing on mine - head ripped off. Mine was all torn up after a single fish. That is pretty expensive fishing. I have one more new one. THEN - I am done buying this expensive CHEAP lure. I NEED to get me a fishing wrench == that will last a long long time
Try savage gear octopus 🐙 fishing lures cheaper strongerand lots of different weights. Here in New zealand snapper kingfish yellow tails everything eats them very realistic
your videos have me wanting to do some slow pitch but in my area the water is about 15 maybe 20 ft deep. Can you still slow pitch in such water or does it have to be deeper?
From a non youtuber, i get the trip being worth content, but for the rest of us, is a 1200 trip (fuel etc) really worth a couple eating fish? Ive never been out saltin. So im curious the affordability other than couple times a year for the regular dude?
I’ve made so many solo trips at this point it doesn’t bother me. I would rather have another fishing partner but sometimes I make trips last minute and during the week so pretty much everyone is busy. I am more cautious however when I’m solo.
I didn’t realize that you’re not only a fisherman, but a gear head too! I’m fairly certain if you switch to metric wrenches, you will catch more exotic species…just sayin. Pretty work Captain, I always enjoy your videos.
I LEARNED THAT I'M KEEPING ALL MY OLD CHEAP WRENCHES!!!! AND MAKE JIGS OUT IF EM! IT GETS EXSPENSIVE USING JIGS! YOUR GOING TO GET CUT OFF SOONER OR LATER!!!

i have a little challenge for you. ?? you might like to try this ......... Christmas tinsel. long stranded strips . use it for the lure.i hanve used it in uk waters for years never fails . cut it to about 8 inch lengths and just tie onto a hook. DON'T COST MUCH AND LOTS OF VARIOUS COLORS AND TYPES. BUT IT CATCHES FISH. SURE PALS AND FRIENDS LAUGH BUT IT HAS NEVER FAILED. .. IF THERE ARE FISH ABOUT THEY WILL TAKE IT. GIVE A IT WHIRL .. I would agree! The 10 extra ink tablets are no good if the plastic is all tore up. I think it would I’ve lasted longer if the triggerfish wasn’t chewing them up
Hey Brandon, you can get replacement bodies. 2 packs for about $7
Thanks! Just looked them up. Much better than buying the whole setup if you don’t have too
I use super glue to mend torn plastics.
Coming down from TN on the 17th, hope to see you on the water.
What site did you find the replacement bodies? The only ones I can find are the Mini 4" inkvader replacements.
@@RH-qk5lt I believe it was tackledirect
@@FatFoxAdventures Nope. They only sell the 4" mini replacement bodies.

Yes sir, I eat fish all the time and have plenty in the freezer. It's good to give some away to people who may not when you can

Nice of you to share fish with those other folks.

No way, someone stole it?? And Thanks! Wil definitely be dropping it again
My life isn’t complete until I catch an AJ on a wrench! Awesome vid! 🔥
Thanks! Ill have to get ya'll down here in the spring when the weather isn't so unpredictable and make that happen
19:05 hahahahahhaha that just never gets old! Maybe give the triggerfish a taste of its own medicine with an octopus shaped wrench🔥
You know I had to do it 😂 and yea no kidding
I love the Octopus, I love the wrench, 9/16's is my favorite also, and you giving away your catch is the over the top move. I'm so glad I found your site and looking forward to many more of your adventures.
Good work, I just bought the same mustard octopus and I can’t wait to try it out for grouper here in Tampa
Dang! Talk about a quick bite. Great video. Thanks.
HAHAHAH!! Ohhh yeah, this things going to get WRECKED - and the FIRST drop!!! Freaking Badass!! LOVE IT
Haha it had too, looks like a little appetizer for them fish down there!
It was so funny when you were saying 'give me my octopus' and the fish was flapping and the octopus was spazzing out.
Lol I have to entertain my self sometimes when I'm out there by myself.
One of favs south mobile county tubers. Bad a$$ vids dude. Thanks a ton.
I appreciate it man!
I totally remember the wrench. Thanks y'all great video.

you are blessed man, good video.
You sure had a good old time out there especially for a January day. I bet you the wrench jig didn't cost you as much as that octopus one did. Great video Captain. I never get tired of seeing that kind of stuff.
It sure didn't. I've got plenty of old wrenches laying around. The octopus is still pretty cool though

Good luck! It was slow last time i went in there and tried for them
Another banger my man! Can't wait to do some of that jigging with you.
Seriously, a wrench? That is so crazy. Great video and thanks for sharing the octopus jig.
Haha yep very crazy indeed. Thanks for watching!
Gotta love those January conditions. Way to get em cap

I would agree with you on them lasting longer if I was away from the trigger fish. I have a 250g Inkvader I plan on trying out deep for some grouper!
Great video! Talking to my daughter about doing an off shore trip with ya, so see ya soon!
Snapper season should open up June 1st!
Hahaha...I was wondering if the wrench was coming out! Good stuff buddy
Aww you know it’s gotta make an appearance from time to time 😂 thanks!

Def need more octopus jig action, great stuff

I seen you yesterday in the bayou fishing we were in a blue boat
Yep. I had a charter later that day. Ya'll do any good?
@@CaptCollier two reds about 24 inches
second fish was a leather jacket in the southern hemisphere great eating, skin it with a pair of pliers. cool
That was a gray Triggerfish. It was undersize and not in season in our area currently. But yes, extremely good table fair
Haha crazy how they will hit a wrench! Great video!!
It is pretty nuts to think about. Lol
Make a mold of the lure and get the stuff to pour your own octopus jigs. We pour little grubs to big swimbaits
What a fun video, that lure is so realistic.
Glad you enjoyed it, and I know it’s crazy how lifelike it looks
That was amazing!!!!

Nice to see a few interesting lures being used. Loved the wrench I’ll have to try it out for bass

I try! And thanks man
That's the thing about all the expensive lures, often all the fish want is something shiny, be it a wrench or cooking foil.
That’s right. I say it all the time, 90% of artificial lures are really to catch us as fishermen more than the fish, but we still buy them anyways 😅
I just cleaned out 4 old toolboxes and I was thinking about making some lead jigs, guess I'll save the lead and use this pile of old odd size wrenches instead. That's flipping awesome

Whats the shallowest you can consistently catch Almaco jacks?
Man that octopus is the bomb!!!
It’s pretty sweet for sure! Lol
Great Vid, that lure was on fire! Wonder if Z MAN makes a squid or octopus lure. Their lures are TOUGH!
Thanks! And I don’t think so, I believe mustad came up with this idea. Would be really sick if zman made a version with there material though
I've only saw the ocean once and I'm 32 it would be nice to go out once I love fishing I go atleast twice a week but what fish are good eatins in salt water
There so many good eating saltwater fish, my favorites are flounder, triple tail, cobia, grouper...I could go on and on.
Cool catches 👍 hey your shoes look great. Where did you get it?
Thanks! They are Pelagic Deck boots. Super comfortable and durable for fishing on the boat
Hey Buddy, I’ll be down next week. Let’s go fishing!

Sidchrome wrench ? Imagine using a 12-14 inch long ring spanner. The bigger the spanner, the bigger the fish !!!
Next time! haha
Great content
Thanks!
First time watching … Couldn’t believe you caught a fish on a nine sixteenth wrench .
Yessir, if you work it fast enough it looks like an escaping bait fish to them

What reel is that on your slow pitch combo?
It's an accurate Valiant 300. Super lightweight, but strong for its size
Very realistic looking octopus jig. It didn't last long...
No it didn’t. Definitely an effective jig though if you don’t have any live or dead bait to catch a variety of different fish species.
