Temporally repair Sony camcorder error code C:32:11 C:32:10
push down the mode gear gently by a tiny screw driver.
Watch out for the drum (video heads) - Do not touch other than the mode gear.
This error caused by poor contacts between the mode gear and golden sensing plate. Thank you,
John Han @ MYK Camcorder Repair Service.
Tried several times, almost gave up but finally it started working. Thanks a lot for the advice. Must note here that my final attempts did not exactly fall under category "gently", I was pushing pretty hard yet carefully.
Estava quase desistindo, mas li este seu comentário e deu tudo certo! 😉
This is the only fix vid that worked..... took a couple tries... ended up giving some light taps on the screwdriver (in a tech too ) but it ended up functional again . Thank you for your vid. Saving people a lot of money and frustration...
Seriously!!!!! FANTASTIC....we were ready to throw the camera out because we cannot afford to replace or repair and we are raising 2 kids....you saved the day and made it possible to get our family videos going again!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thanks John! Even 10 years after posting vour video it helped me out. I was just about to finish digitising my collection of 60 dvtapes when suddenly my Sony handycam stopped. With your directions I got it up and running again so I can finish my last 2 tapes...
hey, did anything move when u pressed down on the mode gear? did it rotate a bit or what happened?
OMG thank you! I’m from germany and my family was so sad that we never can watch old childhood movies since 10 years, now we can watch it all on the last day of 2020, this is the biggest surprise! THANK YOU SO MUCH! 🥺
like wat did u do m making mine I didn't quite get it shld I push it hard?? Or tigten the little screws there
I was looking for days to understand what was wrong and how to fix it. And someone posted the link to your video. Just impressed, it works perfectly 😊. Many many thanks.
Maaaaaan! You should make a new version of it for millions of people! I can’t express my gratefulness, today I bought camera with problem like that and fixed at home in 5 minutes with your video! Thank you, this is huge!
Rename it: C 32 11 SOLUTION 100% USE THIS METHOD ITS THE BEST 🔥🔥🔥
It worked John thank you very much. I was afraid to break the gear, we should precise that it is important to press on the small hole on the side of the gear (as shown on image at 30 seconds time in the movie), and not on the tooth. Thank you again
Flolo38 can u say what to do and how to fix please i Didnt understand the video
Thank you John, fixed my $1000 camera I bought 7 years ago
I repeated again and again succeeded and now I'm watching the video, Thanks very much!!
Below is from a UA-cam user "PLCI" who successfully fixed it.
Finally got it to work. Problem is that I couldn't find the gear. Remove three small screws (1 at top and 1 on each side) of the 'DO NOT PRESS DOWN' metal think to take it off. Then I got a good look inside (with better lighting as well) applied good pressure on the gear and Bam! it worked. Thanks!
That's work perfectly for me thank you :D
My camera : Sony DCR-HC23 Handycam. error was : C:32:11
i saved 45 munites of work ! thank you so much
This worked!! HDR-HC3. I heard a light "snap" when I pushed the gear hard enough, and then I heard a motor do something. Thanks man, you saved me from buying another camera..
John man.. thx so much.. it was broken for like 2 years.. got to see my childhood again.. and old dog who died.. that meant alot to me.. all bcuz ur a wizz.. thx so much again.. o and those who get the code C:31:11 saying insert the cassette .. turn the camera off and hit the reset button by the speaker by screen.. turn on it should work without code again.. if not.. repeat.. it will work
this actually worked, tried a few times and now it works just fine. thanks a lot!
Thanks Pat - this has just worked for me too! Brilliant! :)
I used this info on a Sony DCR-HC51E that had the C:32:11 error. I done as instructed and it didnt work for the first 3 times. On the 4th try i decided to press the RESET button and it worked. Might be a good idea to mention that also...
Many thanks for this video :)
This actually worked!!! it took several tries. Thanks!
Good work! Can you share what model # you have? Thanks,
Oh my god, I was sitting in almost 3 hours trying to figuring this, asking sony techs and reading various blogs, then I ran intro this video and I was thinking ''well, I've tried everything, so I might aswell try this'' and it amazingly worked! thank you so much, you made my day.
I cant find the mode gear
after 13 years this solutions works, thanks buddy
Where is this? Sorry I dont understand.
Moest even zoeken waar precies schroevendraaier ingedrukt moest worde werkt nu weer perfect.
Reuze bedankt. Thanks! !!
i just fixed the problem with your help man, thanks a lot from argentina, here in our country there are a lot of thieves fixing this problem for over 100 dollars or more.... I WANT TO SAY THAT U HAVE TO DO A LOT OF PREASURE TO THE GEAR, A LOT OF DOWN PREASURE WITH A SMALL SCREW DRIVER.... ITS REALLY RECOMENDED TO TAKE OFF THE THREE SCREWS.... DONT BE AFRAID, U HAVE TO PUSH HARD DOWN THE GEAR
After receiving a C:32:10 error message, I looked at other online sites which recommended other methods of repair. They suggested hitting it or Sony recommended their restart protocol (take battery out, turn camera on for 10 seconds, replace battery turn back on) but it wasn't until I saw this video that I looked at the mode gear, and some bit of fluff was jammed in it. Removed, now it shuts. I don't know how long it will last, but thanks for the video.
This worked for me as well on my DCR-HC26. I am now backing up my tapes. My unit seems slightly out of adjustment, but I should be able to get through my tapes without it sticking again. Thanks for the help!
THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!! Got my $3 yard sale HC52 working again!
@RetroPCDOS thanks for your advise, it makes sense.
recommend to bend springs under the mode gear, due to availability of the mode gear.
Worked for me, too! Thanks! Do use a Phillips screwdriver, and press kind of hard in the little hole in the gear, just as shown in the video. I didn't really feel much "give" or change in the gear, and I had to try it a few times until I was successful. This camera now becomes "video" only, no more tape. This was on a Sony HDR-HC9 camera.
i have a daughter she just make here first steps i want to record it
i changed the tape and the wont close i checked out your video and you save me with this problem
i do the same thing what you do and it works thank you now i recorded the first steps that she make thank you again !
Woah, I dont believe it! I just put a little bit of pressure on that gear like you showed, and presto, the tape compartment closes again! Thank you for showing us where there problem is. Thank you.
do you press down on the gear for a certain amount of time or are you waiting for a click of some kind
What if you have a tape stuck inside the camera and you can't get it to eject? Do you have any tricks for that?
I've just tried it and it worked! My handycam was on storage for more than a year (with the battery disconnected) and I was surprised it failed. Works well now. Thank you!
like should I push it hard or tighten those little screws plz do reply
I need an answer just like you.
hi John, my dcr-hc26, have problem c:32:11, i have tried to push the spot on mechanism, how hard it being push ? battery and cassete already moved, thanks before
@johnhanmyk
Yes. I actually opened a brand new tape to try so as not to keep destroying tape that hadn't yet been downloaded to my pc.
It seems to play and record without issue other than it does seem to be making noise in the reels like the tape is straining. When I rewind to try to download is when it goes really wrong and when I pop open the door I've got 6-8" of tape inside the camera.
This really works!! The gear is a bit hidden, but once I taped the door shut, pressed down on both sides of the gear, and gently touched the gear teeth with the screw driver, and I put battery back in. Once I took off tape and powered up I could hear motion in the mechanism that I did not hear in previous attempts. Low and behold once it powered up I was able to close the door! Still getting 32:23 error but at least I got that part done.
I have DCR-HC36 and the problem is Mini DV Compartment won't close and an error code C:32:11 and a message "Re-attach the power support" displays on LCD Panel while switch on the Handycam. I have tried out to find the gear but couldn't succeed please give me some more hints to find out the gear.
Many thanks, my 3 year old had the same problem. I took the tape slide out to see clearly the place were to push with the screw driver. After following your instructions, the error code was not showing anymore. Little hard to put back the tape slide (3 very small screws) - After job satisfaction that it worked again. In mean time purchased a TOSHIBA Camileo s20 for only 70 Euro and a 8GB SD memory and no more moving parts on this one and good quality HD 1080p 16:9 video's.
having same problem , failed to find the mode gear , pls help ( same camera )
OMG This worked! I spent the last hour looking on-line how to fix my non-closing door and your video was the only thing that worked. You. Are. Awesome! (HDR-HC3)
Man, you are an amazing guy. After searching the forums all over and getting instructions that included banging on the dang thing. I was ready to give up on it. But your instructions were perfect as my recorder is now working properly again. Thanks so much!
Glad that it worked for you!
@johnhanmyk
Checked.
Has HC96E hided screws or all of them are visible? Yesterday I couldn't open the main cover of camcorder.
For those who are facing HDD problems and have any Sony camera with memory stick slot , try this:
1- Place the memory stick
2- Go to "Home" -> "Manage Media" (or something like that) -> And select the option to change to the memory stick, instead of HD.
3- Go to "Manage Media" again, then to "Format Media", so choose to format the HDD! - Now that you are running the camera from memory stick, you'll not have any problem to format the HD.
At least worked with me! I think it worths the try!
Finally got it to work. Problem is that I couldn't find the gear. Remove three small screws (1 at top and 1 on each side) of the 'DO NOT PRESS DOWN' metal think to take it off. Then I got a good look inside (with better lighting as well) applied good pressure on the gear and Bam! it worked. Thanks!
Thank you for share how you did!
Same as this user: "I have DCR-HC36 and the problem is Mini DV Compartment won't close and an error code C:32:11 and a message "Re-attach the power support" displays on LCD Panel while switch on the Handycam. I have tried out to find the gear but couldn't succeed please give me some more hints to find out the gear."
Any solution??
Thanks
this actually worked on my stuck sony dcr-hc38, thanks!
Hi Steve B
My one Sony DCR-HC38 I took out cassette compartment couldn’t find the mode gear could you give me the idea where this gear located. Thanks
My tape is stuck shut.... is there a way to get to this gear with the tape in or do I have to disassemble the camcorder. Thanks in advance.
Hello
I do have the dcr hc38 sony and somehow can not located the mode gear.Any advice.Thank you
It worked great on my Sony HDR-HC9 when I couldn't get the door to close. Thank you for sharing!
hello, i just wanted to ask a question about a SONY DCR-TRV33 which is a miniDV camcorder which i bought used a few days ago to add to my camera collection, this camera does all the functions correctly execp for the camera mode in which the display is black whit no image being capted from the lens, i searched the internet and it seems to be a common issue for this model of camera in which worts case essenario it requires the CCD image sensor being replaced; i now this parts are not even available, so i was wondering if this problem can be caused by another componenet like a capacitor which are more common, i have some knowledge of electronics and do maintenance to my cameras which i also bougt used and are VHS, VHSC, 8mm, miniDVD.
+lead eater There's no capacitor issue on this model and the CCD must be replaced. If Sony doesn't making this part no more, nothing much we can do to it. Sorry for the bad news,
Hi! I've completely disassembled my dcr-hc27e. What type of lubrication are you using. I've the same C32:11 error. Thanks Per Raymond!
I'm using a Sony grease, part # 7-640-006-08 which you can get it from Sony directly. Thanks,
Do you have a shop in Orange County California? Do you know how to fix the monitor vertical hold?
Fantastic!!!My vintage Sony DCR-HC 46E fixed thanks to your advice.
It worked! Thanks! Also, noticed that this was keeping me from charging the battery? It's like something inside the camera died. BIOS battery, LOL. I let it stay on the power plug ALL day, and it said the battery was dead, but now it charges? I did this and fixed it. Just kind of pressed against that little hole (was hard to find in bad lighting) in different directions with about 10 lbs. of force. Tada. Props to you, good sir.
OMG!!!! for months i have been trying to fix this issue and all i had to do was watch you post. hanks Mate....
HI I have a sony DCR-HC96. I just took the tape out and the door won't close. Its also giving me a 're-connect power source' message. I Googled the internet but couldn't find anything specific to my model camera. Please help!
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you
You have helped me tooooooo much
You know I have been looking for solution for this problem honestly for years
Hai, same issue here. Is it possible to spray some contact cleaner in that area to solve the problem? Or do you think that is a stupid idea? As far I can see there are only gears and contacts in that area, for example no belts that requires friction. Safe to apply?
Does it loading & unloading ok with out a tape?
Thanx man, you saved me too. Just pushing the little black wheel a bit. Can hardly believe it, but it did the trick right away.
I've put some cleaning spray on it (in the hope that it would go underside) although I think it must be removed and cleaned. This fix is only temporary, but it's exactly the aim of this fix ...
@johnhanmyk
I think the same. I have found this part in Germany. WIll try to buy.
But I can't understand how to disassemble camera. It seems there is some hide screw. Is there a howto video with disassembling HC96?
Dopo mesi di disperazione ho salvato la mia videocamera Sony DCR-HC27
Quasi non ci credevo... ma tentare non costava nulla !!! INCREDIBILE !!..
HA FUNZIONATO DAVVERO !!!... Grazie mille.... :)
thanks a lot Mr.John Han ...a fix it... It worked on my DCR-HC35E. Thank you so much!!!
i do not understand where you're pushing the gear forward or beck
You know how you push the mode gear down, do you push the hole that is in the mode gear?or just the whole thing?
Push it all around the mode gear several times with various pressure.
Hi John.. We tried the rest button. the tape cassette compartment closed. Now the door is stuck open and the tape holder hasn't raised itself up. Any Ideas what would jam the door open? HDR-HC5 . We have no error message on the camera and no tape in the camera either. Thank you..
I guess there's torn flex. cable that compartment sensor signal traveling and doesn't reach all the way to the circuit board. unfortunately, there's nothing much you can do. sorry.
it doesn't work for me . i have broke a tooth of the gear and it still doesn't work !
i don't really understand what to do with the screw driver on the gear !
Hi do u knw where i cud find sony hvr28 camera in the uk
@ruslanpopov i can't tell, because i don't have an hc96 with me now, it isn't too hard to find screws and remove covers, good luck
Hi John,
I am having the same error. I am using Sony Fx1000 HDV cam. Any help. The cassette Compartment wont close.

Thanks,
I had this problem. All I did was:
1. turn it off
2. remove battery.
3. hold the cartridge slot closed
4. put thee battery back on
5. turn on the power
The mecahnism lineed back up. I could then use it normally.
I have a DCR-HC96 also same error what kind of grease can I use. I will try your process. Thanks
The model is HDR HC5. The LCD screen vertical hold is moving and it will not closed. It says Reattach the power source and the C:32:11 message comes up.
Thank you
Hello again John Han. I hope all is well with you. Another problem occurred with my hdr-hc7. This time, the cartridge will not open.
Do you have any recommendations to fix this? Thank you in advance.
Are you still fixing camcorders? I don’t know if I’m doing this correctly, please help
Try hitting the reset button inside the camera. This will clear its internal memory (it will forget that it had any problems) and all the settings will be reset to factory defaults. The error should be cleared and it should let you load the tape. If this does not work then the problem may be mechanical and the solution suggested here may be a viable option.
Hey Masto,..
I was looking at your photos. Can you explain how you got the tape drive unit out of the camera..? I'm guessing there's screws hidden under plastic parts that snap off somehow..
Mr. John Han, thank's a lot, I saw your video and now my DCR-HC23 is fixed.
how hard do u push the gear i cant get it to work for me
Hi John,My one Sony DCR-HC38 I took out cassette compartment couldn’t find the mode gear could you give me the idea where this gear located. Thanks
Super Tip.
Hat umgehend zum Erfolg geführt.
After doing this, doors are closing but now I get code C:31:23.
Could this be 'cause of the roller?
i have a different problem, the i can close this part od the video but the tape doesn't get in the camera. model sony dcr-hc40e
Kudos to you for this tip, it actually worked and help me get my Handycam going again!!
hey, did anything move when u pressed down on the mode gear? did it rotate a bit or what happened?
@@mrwho6764 Honestly I don’t really recall exactly since it was a few months ago. It may have moved ever so slightly from what I remember.
Thanks a lot. Even if I was also a technician, I haven't thought it... With this workaround my personal records could be saved.
Hi John, I have a Sony Digital Video Camera Recorder model DCR-HC48E. Haven't used the camera for a year or so. I powered up the battery and the tape which was already in the camera played okay. I then removed the tape and when trying to install a new tape the error C:32:11 appeared. I followed you advise, but find the tape works once but not there after. Can you advise. Many thanks
Unfortunately Mr. John has repeatedly flaw Error code C: 32:11 again when I tried to enter the cassette tape
I have repeated many times the first instruction, but they did not help then: (
What do you recommend me to do?
so i did it and the error stopped flashing but the door still wont close. any thing else i should try?
Hello, I was able to get the Handycam to close and reset. But every time I do, the very next time I open the tape compartment to put the tape in, it doesn't close again. Am I doing something wrong? I have the DCR-HC26.
No, you didn't do anything wrong.
Just the mode gear doesn't work properly.
Thank you so much for this Video. I have always powered the motor with a battery.
Now it seems to be fixed. And when it comes again, I know how the contact is.
Thank you so much
Good afternoon, its amazing, it works also for the DCR-HC27E Sony handycam. Thank you very much, camera is 5 years old.
Glad to you did too!
and thank you for share the model number.
hello, do you have any tips for a C:31:23 or C:31:22 message error with a "reinsert cassette" all the time. Thanks
@ftgltool
it's supply side reel error, have you tried new tape?
PS: overall i recorded like 30 casettes maximum and watched the same amount. Let's say that the door opened max 100 times ! Thank you very much !
Hey John I have the problem with the tape socket where it says DO NOT PUSH it doesn't go down pls can u help me
@ruslanpopov
yes, it's same mode gear, but it was no longer available last time i check,
you don't have to replace it, just clean and lubricated it, thank you,
Can you please help me, I removed the light from the top of my Sony Camcorder and now the LCD screen flashes onand off a lightening icon to the left, the letters E:91:01Flash on and off to the right hand side top of screen and the external Amber charge light flashes on and off.
I think I need to "unmarry" the light but its not in the instruction manual.
Thankyou in advance.
hello i have a question about a panasonic PV-43D VHS-C camcorder which is a very old camera from the year 1993, im a collector i growed up using TAPE based cameras which i think are awesome pieces of technology, i now some basic electronics but i am not that skilled even dissasembling and reassembling a camcorder is a dificult task which only few people do sucesfully. About this panasonic PV-43D camera i just got which is from the year 1993 that would make it 23 years old, i know it's illogic to expect a camera this old to work properly or even to be considered to be repaired but still my question is about the record/playback fuctions, this camera has issues when is in record, playback mode, rewind and specially in fast forward, when in playback mode the image and sound are irregular, the rewind is not as fast as it should be and the fast forward its slow even stoping and shoting off itself, the engine cant be heard working properly at full speed but the tape gears just don't move properly, i inspected the mechanims and i noticed that booht the playback and rewind reel have each one their individual clutch whit no direct gear from the engine to the tape reels even the rewind reel uses a clutch all the time, it is possible that the pinch roller andles the pulling of the tape all the time for the palyback rewind and fast forward functions in this camcorder? can the pinch roller be considered the culprid for slow rewind and fast forward?
So far, I have n220 sub chassis repair video.
What model you have? & how much the repair guy estimated?
This video would be sooo much more helpful if it had narration, and more importantly, explained where exactly to find that gear! I cannot find it for the life of me. Throwing out the camera :(
