  • MY FIRST TIME CENOTE FREEDIVING in PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico. We go to Cenote Kin Ha Puerto Morelos, 30 minutes from Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. You can see stalactites in the clear water. I decided to dive headfirst into the world of freediving. Exploring the depths of the Yucatan Peninsula where there are hundreds of cenotes!
Wanna know what it was like to learn to free dive in a cenote? Note: I did a one-day workshop at a dive shop in Playa Del Carmen @amancayfreedivingmexico9905 They had great reviews by the female diving community and are also a female-owned business. I chose well!
From apnea breathing techniques to equalization methods, I'll share my first experience and lessons as an aspiring freediver.

The cenote is the most clear center I've ever seen. Not only is it so clear, but it's so beautiful to see the depth of the cenote with natural sunlight and the rain droplets giving that natural beauty vibes. Overall, I love this video, especially your first diving experience and I'm sure you had a wonderful time at cenote. Big thumbs up 👍 and beautiful content.

It really was such a unique and beautiful experience! Very meditative. I hope to continue with classes in Hawaii when I have time. 🧡 would you try water activities if given the chance?

@grrrltraveler would be great to try free diving, but most importantly, it is to spend some good quality time staying at different cenotes and enjoy the beautiful nature.

It was unique to the environment and a cool way to experience freediving. If you and your family ever get the chance, those cenotes are jewels. I wish Hawaii had an equivalent to it.

Wow! Very impressive. The waters of the cenote looked gorgeous. You are a natural! I love to snorkel, but free diving has been out of my comfort zone. This video makes me determined to take lessons and give it a try.

I feel like it’s easier than it looks but is very mental. Your head can easily get in the way. Have you ever gone diving or snorkeling James?

Lots of snorkeling, but no real diving……yet.

Love this! My father was a recreational diver and I’ve always wanted to but the overwhelming vastness of the ocean and a fear of what’s in there (sneaking up behind me from the deep!!!!)!always gives me anxiety. This seems like a good way to ease into the fear!

It was and I thought those exact same thoughts too. I think that’s why I felt more relaxed. The elements of unpredictability are reduced. But it’s still adventurous because the cenotes is it’s own wonderful thing. 🧡
Did he ever take you on his dives?

@@grrrltraveler yes. Off Cyprus. I was about 12. Dad got a local diver with a boat and the three of us set out. I was always a water baby, when I was four my mother couldn’t understand why my swimsuit was still wet in the morning until one night she caught me slipping out of our hotel room (Madeira) in the middle of the night to go swim - (my early escape attempts are legendary!) aaaaanyway so it was assumed I’d really take to it...the water was so clear, you could see the bottom, i back flipped in, saw the shadow of the boat on the bottom....brain said “SHARK”, panic kicked in, tore off mask, aqualungs, flippers, weights, JUST DROPPED THE LOT, forgot that by that point I had every UK & US swimming badge going and DOGGY PADDLED back aboard....I’ve had two shark related panic attacks since...one in a water park in Spain (once I could breath enough to explain to my bf why I’d just panic exploded out the water in a frenzy he said ‘ffs I thought your period had started!!” 🤣😂🤣) and the other in a private pool in London....that time my brain imagined some James Bond grill opening up and a great white swimming through....I know, it defies ration 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ ....but I’d like to think one day....

I have a question about wetsuits does one have to take off their underwear to put on a wetsuit? Why couldn't he take you to a pool? I have seen trainee scuba divers train before they become certified. I think you should take the three-day course I find being underwater so very peaceful it's almost like meditating.

    • @grrrltraveler
      @grrrltraveler  10 місяців тому +1

No you keep underwear on. I also wore my rash guard bc in scuba I get cold after a while and it gets uncomfortable. The freedive suit is a little thicker than scuba dive suits so a bit more insulated but you’re still in the water.
This was a one day cenote freediving workshop; they also have a three day certification. They could’ve had a pool, but it wouldn’t have been as fun.
Also, the cenote is like as one giant pool. It’s a controlled environment so you won’t be swept away and there’s no surprising sea creatures. I take you’d prefer a pool for your first experience?

@@grrrltraveler Thank you so much Grrrltraveler,
I love your videos, I've always wondered about that underwear thing. It's not like I'm going to go scuba any time soon. It's just one of those questions that get stuck in your mind. I can't wait for your next video Buffalove

Awww thanks for that compliment,@@jaysartori9032 ! Love seeing you here.
You might think about the underwear thing, b/c water people have to pee in their suits when they have to go bathroom. ;) But no undies wouldn't be very hygenic unless you owned the suit. The pee can always be washed out. Still kinda gross.

@@grrrltraveler I understand that sometimes nature calls and we may have to relieve ourselves in the ocean or other bodies of water. It's a relief that we don't have to go through the hassle of cleaning our swimsuits afterward. sending you Buffalove @grrrltraveler💖
