Maasmarathon Visé 2024: 1st of 3 Marathons in 3 Weeks! 😱

  • On Sunday May 5th 2024 i ran my first out of 3 consecutive marathons in 3 weeks.
    I also started the run in a fasted state because at that moment i was doing a fasting challenge for 30 days which included fasting for 16 hours every day from 6pm till 10am.
    And since the Maasmarathon started already at 9am, i had a problem 🫣
    Well perhaps not really a problem because in the end didn't really had any negative effects.
    But you need to take into account that i couldn't drink any calorie rich drinks or eat something.
    The only thing i had before the marathon was plain water and black coffee 👌
    The race went great and i got to put my new hydration strategy to work.
    Since it's getting warmer, we need to train ourselves again to drink more and make sure we get the electrolytes in that we are sweating out.
    With having Cindy at strategic points to give me my water bottles, and having water stations practically every 3km, there was plenty of possibility to get something to drink 👍
    My A goal for the race was to finish at 3h40 and my B goal was 3h45.
    I conserved a lot of energy until 5Km before the finish, keeping my heart rate at an average of 160bpm.
    The remaining 5Km i pushed it a bit to get my time closer to my A goal and i succeeded pretty good in that as i reached the finish line with an official time of 3h40:57
    As I'm running 3 consecutive marathons in 3 weeks, i need to make sure that recovery is high upon the list.
    For recovery I'm taking Beet IT sports Regen beet juice for 3 days, i also take Powerbar magnesium shots to counter the fatigue in my body.
    I tested both these products out already after my previous marathon and my recovery then went very smooth (which was the first time it went so smooth!).
    I have completed my 5th marathon ever and my 2nd marathon of the year.
    Still got 10 marathons to complete this year to reach my goal of 12 😱
    (I'm not counting ultra's as a marathon by the way, they need to be official road marathons, so training runs also do not count!).

    You're a beast. I even can't get myself to work in the morning without a proper breakfast :D But well done man, and good luck with the next one!!

      I pretty much live on coffee in the morning to stop my hunger.
      For the next marathon I’m not fasting during the race since it’s in the evening starting at 7pm, but that will be another challenge on its own, running so late 🫣

      Kan alleen maar hopen dat het lichaam voldoende herstelt is na die 2x20km trails van in de week ook 👀
