The clapping doesn't hinder the music. The performance is so great at the end of the 2nd and the 3rd movements and there is a break between the movements.
For another performance with surprising ease even in the 2nd movement (you’ll see what I mean...), try Mikyung Sung with Jaemin Shin. It’s actually the best interpretation I’ve yet heard. (Well, my favorite at least.)
Whether with w Sunwoo or Alessio Bax both performances Are Wonderful and must listen!!!! Historical Achievements That Must Be Listened AND KEPT dear CJK !
Has anyone noticed, at 12:45, the three notes that climb up from the first string to the second, and then to the third? I myself is a lousy violin player, just a little bit of swedish folk music, but when I see this, I think that this is a very smart way to treat the violin. Perhaps Franck was a violin player, I dont know? Anyway, it is great music, perhaps the best violin sonata there is? A lot of passion, intimacy, melodic lines that indicate that Cesar Franck was in a heavenly mood when he wrote this wonderful piece of music. Thanks Clara-Jumi and Yekwon Sunwoo, you are wonderful musicians!
Although Cesar Franck was not a violinist, he dedicated the sonata to the most famous violinist of the time, Eugene Ysaye, for Ysaye’s wedding. Ysaye helped in the composition giving him advice of what worked for violin and what didn’t. The work’s first performance was at Ysaye’s wedding, where Ysaye performed it for his wife. Truly a labor of love.
@@davidpack5902 Yes David, I agree, but I wrote "perhaps" as one should do in this circumstances, Brahms violin sonata no 1 is a beauty and perhaps the best. We are lucky that we dont have to judge,
So glad for the nine thumbs up, and for the two answers. Well, playing the violin is a technique, not only a way to express oneself. After practise and practise and practise , over and over again, you seems to lose connection with the goal you had in sight, but then after practising even more, the goal suddenly seems to be in sight, and you are more near it than you have ever been. And then its necessary to practise a little bit more. Because if you dont do it, the goal, the lighthouse, will disappeare in the night. So, I envy all of you that still practice and still try for that goal. I myself has given it up, but luckily I can listen to people that never gave it up.
wow! It's such a great piece and they absolutely nail it. I think the audio balance is slightly too much piano, especially in the 2nd movement--the piano part is so rich that it someimes overpowers the violin. But their passion and the violinist's obvious enjoyment of the music are wonderful.
